Card Ministry
Did you know that the Cathedral has a Card Ministry? This
ministry honors and remembers CTK parishioners
monthly. Card Ministry volunteers are assigned two or three names of Senior
Adults to whom they send cards. Cards are also sent to seminarians and those
in religious life from our parish, as well as transitional Deacons who have
served at Christ the King. These monthly cards may include birthdays,
Valentine’s Day, Easter and Christmas. Volunteers work from home following
their own schedule.

“The CTK Card Ministry has been a great opportunity for me to connect with
some of our senior parishioners, especially those who may no longer be able
to attend Mass regularly at the Cathedral, and to let them know that they
continue to be valued and loved members of our community, and that they
are thought of and prayed for regularly.” Alexis Davis said. “I truly feel that the
Card Ministry gives more to me than I give to it and feel blessed to have found
it.”
If you are interested in becoming a member of our Card Ministry, please
contact Jan Riser at [email protected].

Preparing for
Sacraments
We have nearly 180 students this year
preparing to receive the Sacraments of
First Reconciliation and First
Eucharist in the spring. These
students are learning about God’s
Love and forgiveness, along with the
importance of participating in the
Mass. If you happen to see them
placing their “First Communicant in
Training” business cards in the
offertory basket, offer them a word of
praise and recognition for this
important stage in their faith journey.

Bocce Ball
CKS held its First Annual Mother/Son Event
on Friday, October 17. With over 200 in
attendance, CKS Mother/Son teams paired
up to play Bocce Ball on 24 courts on the
CKS Lawn (the Greenspace). The families
enjoyed dinner from Pero’s food truck,
music from a DJ, a few games of corn hole
and good times with their boys!
Christmas Tree Sale
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.... It's time to start thinking
about the holidays, and that means placing your order for Christmas
trees, wreaths and garland! All trees are freshly cut, premium Fraser
Firs that will be delivered straight from the farm in the North
Carolina High Country. Our trees are grown at Horney Hollow Farms and they
have been producing the highest quality trees, owned and operated by the same
family for over 35 years. All orders must be pre-placed no later than November
19. See the CKS website at www.christking.org to place your order. Pick up day
will be Saturday, December 6, from 9 am to 1 pm in front of the Hyland Center.
Friends and neighbors are welcome to place orders. Merry Christmas!
Holiday Market
In our earliest years, visionary
parishioners utilized planned giving
as a way to fulfill their hopes and
dreams for the Cathedral. For
example, one of our founding
parishioners established a charitable
trust in her will, naming the
Cathedral as beneficiary. The gift was
small at first but has grown
significantly over the decades
continuing to bless the Cathedral day
after day.
We invite you to consider a planned
gift to our Cathedral Fund as your
long term legacy. Your gift will help
support special projects and ministry
needs beyond our annual operating
expenses. A simple provision in your
will or a designation from a
retirement plan can create your
future gift .You can designate a
particular project or ministry or your
funds can be used for the general
needs of the Cathedral.
We are ready to work with you and
your advisors to develop a gift plan
that best suits your goals and
objectives.
For a private discussion of planned
giving opportunities, please contact

member Ham Smith, 404-261-6189,

Are You Experiencing a Nagging ‘Chill’ in Your Life?
Our Stephen Ministers Can Help!
The sudden chilly weather we've had recently can be
symbolic of what can sometimes happen in life. A crisis
hits and we feel like we're buried beneath a drift of snow.
Relationships can become "frigid," or we can feel "frozen"
by life circumstances. We can wonder, "Is God even
there?" Stephen Ministers are trained to provide
confidential Christian care, giving you the emotional and
spiritual support you need to make it through a "winter" in your life. Our Stephen
Ministers are ready to care for you. To learn more about how a Stephen Minister
can help you or someone you know, contact Dottie O’Connor, 404-233-2675.
Charismatic Prayer Group
You’re invited to join the Word of God Prayer Group on Wednesdays at 7-8 pm in

the presence of the Holy Spirit. Come deepen your prayer life in a relaxed
environment, where the love of God is celebrated and all are welcome. Contact

comunión a los fieles se decía: “Recibe lo que eres y conviértete en lo que recibes”;

orden nuevo. (85)

WELCOME FROM THE PASTOR AND
CATHEDRAL STAFF
Dear Friends in Christ,
On behalf of Archbishop Wilton Gregory, the Clergy and
staff, I welcome you to the Cathedral of Christ the King. I
hope and pray that you feel welcomed by our parish
community and that your spiritual and pastoral needs will
be met.
We are a very active parish with 5,500 families and over one
hundred ministries. We encourage our members to share
their gifts of time, talent and treasure.
Our mission statement is to “Know, Love and Serve as Jesus
Did”. This is the mission of each disciple of Christ and, if
you are new, I hope and pray that you will join us and be
part of the community of Christ the King. If you are passing
through or visiting the city of Atlanta, I hope you enjoy your
worship experience and please visit us again.
If you would like to know more about our parish, you can
visit our website at www.cathedralofchristtheking.org or
email us.
May we, this day and all the days of our lives, know, love
and serve as Jesus did.
Prayers and Blessings,
Msgr. Frank McNamee, Rector
