From http://www. alwaysmadewithlove.co.nz/super-funeasy-diy-bubble-art What you will need for your DIY Bubble Art project: •Thick paper or card stock •Acrylic Paint of your choice •A few plastic straws •Bubble Mix •Containers (to mix paint and bubbles) •Scissors •Glue First thing, mix the bubble mix with my desired… about 5 tablespoon of bubble mix per colour. Don’t be too light handed because if you don’t add enough paint your bubbles will turn out far too light and you won’t be able to see them too well. (about half a teaspoon plus of paint to 5 tablespoons of bubble mix) Start slowly blowing individual bubbles with your straw. Make sure they form nice and big and then place the bubble on 4 to the page. The bubbles either instantly popped or they sat on the page for a little bit before popping. If you have a few stubborn bubbles then you can pop them yourself. The pop of the bubble is very cool as it send paint flying in all directions and each bubble is left with its own unique look. Once you have finished making all the colour combinations you want then leave them to dry. If you’re doing this DIY with children, have them in their underwear or have a paint gown on because it does get messy and there is lots of splatter in the end. Outside would probably be more ideal! Photo: Sweet Nectar Society Let's met the Rayas family: Augustine Rayas (Dad), Jennifer Rayas (mom), Jaleena Rayas (9yr.), Isabella Rayas (6yr.), Rayden Rayas (4yr.) and Gabriella Rayas (3yr.) Jennifer, tell us a little about your family... Our family consist of three girls, one boy, Mom, Dad, and Grandma (Cathy). We enjoy going to the beach, visiting amusement parks, playing sports, and being involved in school events. We love to sing and dance and the occasional impromptu fashion show. We really enjoy spending time together as family and being able to explore new things. Who do you walk for? We walk for Jaleena, but ultimately we walk for awareness, acceptance, and equality for all individuals with Down syndrome. When and how did you get first get involved with Step Up? We have been involved with Buddy Walk/ Step Up for about 10 years. We became involved when our daughter Jaleena was about a month old. We were told about Buddy Walk/Step Up through Jaleena's early intervention teacher. Why do you have so much Step Up pride? We have so much Step Up pride because we are so proud of how amazing Jaleena is and want to share her awesomeness with everyone. We are proud of what she has accomplished and want to celebrate her achievements with everyone. We want to show people that we ALL have the ability to do amazing things. What are your goals and hopes for your 9 child's future? Our goals and hopes for the future for Jaleena are for her to be independent and confident in herself. We want Jaleena to pursue her dreams and passions just like everyone else. We hope she will inspire others to be their best and to never give up . We want her to strive to be the best "Jaleena" she can be and to just be happy! How DSACC has helped/impacted your life? DSACC has helped us in so many ways. When we first found out Jaleena had Down syndrome, we felt scared and alone. DSACC gave us the information and tools we needed to be the best parents we could be for Jaleena. DSACC has also given us the opportunity to meet and network with other families that share similar stories. We feel comfort in knowing we are not alone in this journey. Jaleena, what is your favorite color? Orange Favorite food? Pizza! Favorite activity/hobby? To sing, dance and read her bibles. Favorite thing about yourself? My hair! (Mom says she is constantly playing with it) What do you want to be when you grow up? A singer/actress in Hollywood. "I'm going to be famous!" We know you will be famous Jaleena! and we look forward to seeing your spirit at Step Up in October! Photo: Jason Mendez- Snapshot Media, 2014 Team Jaleena is the reigning "Step Up Most Spirit" winner and has been the "most spirited" for the past 4 consecutive years!
