Dear DeMiguel Families,
The PTO would like to welcome you to the 2013-2014 school year. We hope you have enjoyed your
summer! We are very excited about the new school year and the upcoming events we have planned over
the year.
Please consider volunteering with us. There are many opportunities for you to help make our school
successful. Teach your children by example - be involved! We can’t do it without you!
We’d like to take this opportunity to invite you to the first PTO meeting September 3rd at 4:15 in the
Commons. After September, our monthly meetings will be held the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Students
and younger siblings are always welcome, and we will be providing child care. We will also be doing a
monthly drawing for a $10 gift card to various retailers around town. We would love to see you there, as
we are always looking for new ideas!
Can’t make the meetings? Emails requesting volunteers will be sent prior to each event. You can let us
know at that point what works best for you. We are always looking for volunteers to help with our events
and some of the jobs can even be done from home. We love recognizing our volunteers so when you help
out, please record your time in the office. (There is a box in the office where you can fill out a card each
time you help out). Also, just a reminder...DeMiguel is on Facebook which is an excellent way to keep
informed of events, snow days and important school information!
Last year with the help of our volunteers and Lobo families we raised enough money to purchase a new
playground structure which will be installed soon. Our first event, The Apex Fun Run in September, is
usually our largest fundraiser. Look for the packet with more Fun Run information in the next couple
weeks.
For additional ways to support DeMiguel, please see the attached flyers. We are looking forward to the
year ahead and hope to see you at the meetings and events.

Shop at Flagstaff Mall & The Marketplace and participate in the School Cents Program
 DeMiguel is in the School Cents competition with 9 other Flagstaff schools for prizes up to
$3,000.
 Just shop and log receipts from any of Flagstaff Mall & The Marketplace stores and restaurants between August 15, 2013 and April 15, 2014. DeMiguel earns five points per dollar
spent, with lots of additional bonus point opportunities throughout the year. Receipts can be
logged at Guest Services in the mall or turn receipts in at the DeMiguel front office and we
will log them for you.
 Register your email address with School Cents to earn up to 2,000 bonus points right away.
Your email will only be used for this program. Simply go to www.shoppingpartnership.com ,
select Flagstaff Mall & The Marketplace under “Shopping Centers”, then look for “CLICK HERE
to earn up to 2,000 points.”
 Last year, DeMiguel came in second place, earning $2,500. Let’s go for first place this year!
Register/Renew your Safeway Club Card and credit/debit cards with the eScrip program
 Safeway will donate a portion of every purchase you make to DeMiguel.
 Go to www.escrip.com to register. Click on “Sign Up—It’s Free!” to begin. You can then
search for DeMiguel PTO (Group ID# 6495006).
 Include Safeway Club Card numbers for all of your family members. The more the better!
 You can also register credit/debit cards with eScrip. DeMiguel will then receive a percentage
of your purchases made at New Frontiers, Taverna, Flagstaff Brewing Company, and other
retailers outside of Flagstaff and online.
 You must renew your card online each year! To renew, go to www.escrip.com and select
“Yes! Keep Earning!”
 If you prefer, we would be happy to link your Safeway Club Card to eScrip for you. Simply fill
out the attached form and return it to your child’s teacher.
 Last year, DeMiguel earned over $2,000 through the eScrip program!
Enroll your Fry’s V.I.P. Card with the new Fry’s Community Rewards Program
 Fry’s will donate a portion of every purchase you make to DeMiguel.
 Go to www.FrysCommunityRewards.com to enroll.
 If you do not already have a Fry’s V.I.P online account, you will need to create one first.
There is a link for this on the Community Rewards page.
 After signing in to your Fry’s online account, select “My Account” and “Account Settings”.
 Under “Community Rewards” select “Edit”. When prompted, search for “DeMiguel Elementary PTO” (organization number 80297).
 Last year, Fry’s donated $500 to DeMiguel. With the new program we may earn even more
this year!
Link your Target REDcard to DeMiguel through Target’s Take Charge of Education Program
 Target will donate 1% of in-store and online purchases made with your REDcard to DeMiguel.
 Visit www.target.com/redcard and follow the Take Charge of Education link to sign up and
designate DeMiguel to contribute to.
Vote for Manuel DeMiguel Elementary School on Target’s Facebook page
 Target will donate $1 to DeMiguel for each vote received from August 14, 2013 through September 21, 2013.
 Limit one vote per person per week.

Clip and save Box Tops for Education
 Box Tops for Education are found on numerous products such as General Mills cereals, Betty
Crocker mixes, Pillsbury rolls, Ziploc bags, Kleenex tissues, Avery labels, and many more.
 Box Tops for Education will donate 10¢ for every Box Top we collect.
 Simply neatly clip Box Tops and periodically give them to your child’s teacher. Each classroom now has its own collection box. Ask other family members to clip Box Tops as well.
 Watch for information about a Box Tops and Labels for Education contest later in the year.
The winning class will earn a prize!
 Last year, DeMiguel earned over $1,800 through the Box Tops for Education Program.

 Labels for Education are found on numerous products such as Campbell’s soups, Post cereals,
Pepperidge Farm foods (including Goldfish crackers), Glad food storage, Bic pens, and many
more.
 DeMiguel earns points for the Labels that we collect. We can then purchase products with
the points.
 Simply neatly clip Labels for Education (including the entire UPC barcode next to the Labels
for Education logo) and periodically give them to your child’s teacher along with your Box
Tops for Education.
