Priest Perspective
People of God,
We just heard this past weekend about how
the body needs all the parts of the body to
be successful and to give proper praise to
our God. In the same way we have a lot of
work that needs to be done in the vineyard
of the Lord here in Galveston. Each and
everyone of you are part of the Mystical
Body of Christ and are called to do great
work within our Catholic Community here in
Galveston.
We are in many ways trying to make
all aware of the gift of Stewardship that all of
us must take seriously in our lives. Stewardship in the Catholic sense is the use of our
time, talent, and treasure for the greater Glory of God. In Galveston we need many volunteers to help us push the great mission
that we have been entrusted with as Holy
Family Parish. Our mission is simply to help
all encounter Christ through sacrament,
community, mercy, and love. It takes many
hearts, hands, and passionate souls to
make present the kingdom of God here in
Galveston, which of course is near Texas.
So to continue the great mission of making
this God's country, I beg you to share your
hearts, hands, and passionate souls with all
the many ministries that make up our parish. If you are not in a ministry already, don't
hesitate to come in and ask how you can
help. You could sing at the Youth Mass, Visit the sick, or chair a booth at the festival. Please don't forget to contact Tom Hoyt
if you would like to help with the festival,
which is coming up on March 12th. It always warms my heart as a priest to see the
Body of Christ working together and so I
know it makes God smile as well. So, let's
be contemplatives in action!!! Let us pray,
and then go out in the world and make a difference.
Your Unworthy Servant,
Fr. Orrin

Our History…….is amazing!!!
This “history” is about St. Patrick, St. Patrick Church, and our St. Patrick’s Day Festival.
Prior to Saturday, March 12th you will be hearing and reading a lot about everything St.
Patrick. To begin, legend credits St. Patrick with teaching the Irish about the doctrine of
The Holy Trinity by showing people the Shamrock, a three-leafed plant, using it to illustrate the Christian teaching of 3 persons within 1 God. The Shamrock has since become a
central symbol of St. Patrick’s Day. St. Patrick’s Church was founded in 1871 by immigrants from Ireland & our St. Patrick’s Day Festival began again following Hurricane Ike.
The goal of our festival is to raise much needed funds for our parish, but also to serve as
a unifying event bringing all 6 of our churches together in celebration.
Our History to be continued…….
Nuestra historia continuar…….
