Nerger TBD Alabado sea Jesucristo... Ahora y siempre! Praise be Jesus Christ...Now and forever! "Jesus said to his disciples: 'I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing! There is a baptism with which I must be baptized, and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished! Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division.' (Lk 12:49-51)" One of the roles of a pastor is to bring unity among parishioners and to build One, Holy and Apostolic Catholic parish. A pastor should be a shepherd that goes after the lost sheep. However, I am a realist. I do believe in unity but not in uniformity. We are different. We all have our ideas, experiences, visions, expectations, etc. We cannot expect ourselves to be always on the same page. That would be too idealistic and even too boring. Next Saturday, August 20 at the 5:00 p.m. Mass, I will be formally installed as pastor of this parish. The Mass will be bilingual. There will be some food afterward. You are all truly invited to the Mass and reception. However, if you cannot come, please keep me and our parish in your prayers so that in the midst of the diversity of our community and not always being on the same page, we can still come to one altar and worship in this same building. For the past two weeks, I have been meeting with some people and showing them the physical problems in our facilities. I am also learning about our facilities. Because of that, I am learning so many new things and that makes my life very interesting. We have five buildings and four of them need some repairs. Therefore, I would like to start a maintenance committee just a few people. So, if there are any parishioners who are interested in being part of this group and have knowledge in construction, carpentry, electricity, hearing and cooling systems, I ask that you get in touch with me. Call the parish or send me an email at [email protected]. First, I would like us to look at the Church. This is the house of God. Let us make this place beautiful and proper for our Lord and ourselves. This is the most important building on our property. I hope by the end of the month we will be able to have a date to begin work on the back wall of the Church and to start looking at the furnace, heating and a/c wall units. St. Colette, Pray for us! Pax, Fr. Pax, P. Michal 3 FOCUS YOUTH MINISTRY SPONSORS Children and Teens…..Grab your mixing bowls, spatulas, cake pans and ingredients and get ready for the Age Groups: Elementary School Junior High School High School Prizes will be awarded for the following categories in each Age Group: Presentation/ Originality For a Carnival Theme, Taste When: Sunday, August 28, 2016 Location: St. Colette Carnival Grounds (Look for the signs) Cake Drop Off Time: Drop off your cake by 3pm Judging Time: Begins at 3:15 pm Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Although the Assumption is not a Holy Day of Obligation this year due to the date falling on a Monday, we still will have an opportunity for you to celebrate this day. Radisson begins class by informing students that they will need to disavow, in writing, the existence of God on that first day, or face a failing grade. As other students in the class begin scribbling the words “God Is Dead” on pieces of paper as instructed, Josh find himself at a crossroads, having to choose between his faith and his future. Josh offers a nervous refusal, provoking an irate reaction from his smug professor. Radisson assigns him a daunting task: if Josh will not admit that “God Is Dead,” he must prove God’s existence by presenting well-researched, intellectual arguments and evidence over the course of the semester, and engage Radisson in a head-to-head debate in front of the class. If Josh fails to convince his classmates of God’s existence, he will fail the course and hinder his lofty academic goals. With almost no one in his corner, Josh wonders if he can really fight for what he believes. Can he actually prove the existence of God? Wouldn’t it just be easier just to write “God Is Dead” and put the whole incident behind him? GOD’S NOT DEAD weaves together multiple stories of faith, doubt and disbelief, culminating in a dramatic call to action. The film will educate, entertain, and inspire moviegoers to explore what they really believe about God, igniting important conversations and life-changing decisions. (Source: godsnotdeadthemovie.com) Wednesday August 31st God’s Not Dead 2 All showings begin at 7:00PM. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Free Popcorn will be provided. Pope Francis’ Tweets A society made up of different cultures must seek unity in respect. 4:31 AM - 10 Aug 2016 We ask for respect for indigenous peoples whose very identity and existence are threatened. 4:30 AM - 9 Aug 2016 The Most Rev. Bishop George Rassas, Auxiliary Bishop of Vicariate 1, will be the principal celebrant and will install Father Michal Lewon as the 6th Pastor of St. Colette Parish. The mass will be bilingual and there will be a reception afterwards in Halpin Hall. Let us come together to celebrate this joyous occasion so that we may pray for Father Michal as he takes on the responsibility to shepherd our parish into a vibrant future with the help of all of us, his flock. By our Baptism we are called to serve people of all cultures, migrants, and those who have no voice of their own; our born and unborn children; victims of violence, and the impoverished. Empowered by the Holy Spirit and nurtured by the Eucharist, we are led to promote human dignity and justice for all people. We believe that this is the way the Lord is calling us to be a sign of His kingdom in this time and place.
