Alabado sea Jesucristo... Ahora y siempre!
Praise be Jesus Christ...Now and forever!
"Jesus said to his disciples: 'I have come to set the earth
on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing! There is
a baptism with which I must be baptized, and how great is
my anguish until it is accomplished! Do you think that I
have come to establish peace on the earth? No, I tell you,
but rather division.' (Lk 12:49-51)"
One of the roles of a pastor is to bring unity among parishioners and to build One, Holy and Apostolic Catholic
parish. A pastor should be a shepherd that goes after the
lost sheep. However, I am a realist. I do believe in unity
but not in uniformity. We are different. We all have our
ideas, experiences, visions, expectations, etc. We cannot
expect ourselves to be always on the same page. That
would be too idealistic and even too boring.
Next Saturday, August 20 at the 5:00 p.m. Mass, I will be
formally installed as pastor of this parish. The Mass will
be bilingual. There will be some food afterward. You are
all truly invited to the Mass and reception. However, if
you cannot come, please keep me and our parish in your
prayers so that in the midst of the diversity of our community and not always being on the same page, we can still
come to one altar and worship in this same building.
For the past two weeks, I have been meeting with some
people and showing them the physical problems in our
facilities. I am also learning about our facilities. Because
of that, I am learning so many new things and that makes
my life very interesting. We have five buildings and four
of them need some repairs.
Therefore, I would like to start a maintenance committee just a few people. So, if there are any parishioners who
are interested in being part of this group and have
knowledge in construction, carpentry, electricity, hearing
and cooling systems, I ask that you get in touch with
me. Call the parish or send me an email
at [email protected]. First, I would like us to look
at the Church. This is the house of God. Let us make this
place beautiful and proper for our Lord and ourselves.
This is the most important building on our property. I
hope by the end of the month we will be able to have a
date to begin work on the back wall of the Church and to
start looking at the furnace, heating and a/c wall units.
St. Colette, Pray for us!
Pax,
Fr. Michal
Pastor
"He venido a traer fuego a la tierra, ¡y cuánto
desearía que ya estuviera ardiendo! Tengo que recibir un
bautismo, ¡y cómo me angustio mientras llega! ¿Piensan
acaso que he venido a traer paz a la tierra? De ningún
modo. No he venido a traer la paz, sino la división.
(Lc 12: 49-51)"
Somos diferentes. Todos tenemos nuestras ideas,
experiencias, visiones, expectativas, etc. No podemos
nosotros!
Pax,
P. Michal

God’s Not Dead (PG)
Present-day college freshman and devout Christian, Josh
Wheaton (Shane Harper), finds his faith challenged on his
first day of Philosophy class by the dogmatic and argumentative Professor Radisson (Kevin Sorbo). Radisson
begins class by informing students that they will need to
disavow, in writing, the existence of God on that first day,
or face a failing grade. As other students in the class
begin scribbling the words “God Is Dead” on pieces of
paper as instructed, Josh find himself at a crossroads,
having to choose between his faith and his future. Josh
offers a nervous refusal, provoking an irate reaction from
his smug professor. Radisson assigns him a daunting task:
if Josh will not admit that “God Is Dead,” he must prove
God’s existence by presenting well-researched, intellectual arguments and evidence over the course of the semester, and engage Radisson in a head-to-head debate in
front of the class. If Josh fails to convince his classmates
of God’s existence, he will fail the course and hinder his
lofty academic goals. With almost no one in his corner,
Josh wonders if he can really fight for what he believes.
Can he actually prove the existence of God? Wouldn’t it
just be easier just to write “God Is Dead” and put the
whole incident behind him? GOD’S NOT DEAD weaves
together multiple stories of faith, doubt and disbelief, culminating in a dramatic call to action. The film will educate, entertain, and inspire moviegoers to explore what
they really believe about God, igniting important conversations and life-changing decisions.

Mission Statement
We, the faith community of St. Colette, in proclaiming the truth of the Gospel are committed to follow
Jesus Christ by being ”the salt of the earth” and “the
light of the world”. By our Baptism we are called to
serve people of all cultures, migrants, and those who
have no voice of their own; our born and unborn children; victims of violence, and the impoverished. Empowered by the Holy Spirit and nurtured by the Eucharist, we are led to promote human dignity and justice for all people. We believe that this is the way the
Lord is calling us to be a sign of His kingdom in this
time and place.
