Dear Parents,
Thank you for your donations of water for
our students to enjoy during ISAT. Friday
was our last day of ISAT and I am confident
that our students did a wonderful job using
all of the strategies that teachers have been
teaching them throughout their years at
Gates. The ISAT scores will be shared with
our parents and students in the fall.

Parents I cannot ask you enough to read
the literature that is sent home to keep you
informed on activities and special events at
our school. If your child is participating in
an afterschool program, it is your responsibility to write the dates and times in a calendar to keep yourself organized.

Vacaciones de Primavera Marzo 26—30
Queridos Padres,
Gracias por sus donaciones de agua para que nuestros estudiantes disfrutaran durante los exámenes del ISAT. El viernes fue el último día del
ISAT y estoy creyendo que nuestros estudiantes hicieron un trabajo maravilloso usando todas las estrategias que los maestros les han estado enseñando en el transcurso de sus años aquí en la Gates. Los resultados del examen del ISAT serán compartidos con nuestros padres y estudiantes durante el otoño.
Padres, no les puedo pedir más de lo que ya les hemos pedido que lean toda la correspondencia que mandamos a sus casas para mantenerlos
informados sobre las actividades y eventos especiales en nuestra escuela. Si ustedes tienen a sus hijos participando en un programa después de
escuela, es su responsabilidad de escribir las fechas en un calendario para que se mantengan organizados ustedes mismos. Los estudiantes no están
autorizados a usar el teléfono para recordarles a sus padres que ellos deben quedarse después de escuela. También los padres pueden entrar a nuestra página en la Internet para información. Pongan este periódico en su refrigerador para que les ayude a recordar sobre nuestras actividades en la
escuela. También asegúrense de recoger a sus hijos a tiempo. A los estudiantes les preocupa y les atemoriza cuando sus padres o un miembro de la
familia no esta aquí a tiempo para recogerlos. Por favor ayúdennos con este asunto, así podremos continuar ofreciendo más actividades para nuestros estudiantes.
Recuerden de llamar a la escuela cada vez que cambien sus números de teléfono y también asegúrense de que sus hijos se sepan sus
números de teléfono y su dirección. Esta es una información muy importante que sus hijos deben saber. No hay excusas para que sus hijos no se
aprendan sus números de teléfono y sus direcciones.
Todavía tenemos algunos estudiantes que tienen problemas de asistencia y otra vez les estoy pidiendo a los padres que se aseguren que
nuestros estudiantes vengan a la escuela todos los días. Tenemos una meta muy grande para ayudar a TODOS los estudiantes a leer en sus niveles
de grado y ustedes nos pueden ayudar asegurándose que sus hijos vengan a la escuela. Trabajen en casa en las estrategias de lectura. Cada mes
enviamos a casa unos volantes llamados: “Las conexiones de Lectura” para los padres. Usen estos recursos para ayudar a sus hijos a que alcancen
el nivel más alto en su lectura.
*Hablen con sus hijos todos los días sobre lo que ellos aprendieron en la escuela.
*Hagan preguntas a sus hijos sobre el libro que ellos están leyendo.
*Tengan conversaciones con sus hijos.
*Ayuden a sus hijos a aprender sus números de teléfono y sus direcciones.
Necesitamos trabajar juntos para que TODOS nuestros estudiantes estén en todos los niveles que ellos necesitan estar. Se toma mucho
tiempo y sé que nuestros maestros están trabajando muy duro todos los días para ver buenos resultados al final. Necesitamos a los padres ayudando
en esto también. Están dispuestos?

Students will not be allowed to use the phone
to remind parents that they are staying after school.
Parents may also check our school web page for information. Put this newsletter on your refrigerator to
help you remember about our school’s activities. Also
make sure that you pick up your child on time. Students worry and panic when parents or a family member is not here on time to pick them up. Please help us
with this issue, as we continue to provide more activities for our scholars,
Remember to call the school whenever you
change your telephone number and make sure that
your child knows their phone number and address.
This is very important information for your child to
know. There are no excuses for a child not to know
their phone number and address.
We still have many students that have attendance issues and I am again asking parents to ensure
that our students are at school everyday. We have a
large goal to meet to help ALL students read at grade
level and you can help us by ensuring that your child
is at school. Work at home on reading strategies.
Every month we send home “The Reading Connection” to our parents. Use this resource to help your
child achieve a higher reading level.
*Talk with your child every day about what they
learned at school.
*Ask your child questions about the book they are
reading.
*Have conversations with your child.
*Help your child learn their phone number and address.
We need to work together to get ALL of our
students to the level they need to be at. It does take a
village and I know that our teachers are working very
hard everyday to make this happen on our end. We
need parents to help us with this too. Are you on
board?

Here are some reminders from the Gates nurses office:
Please do not send your child to school:
When they have a fever over 100 degrees. They can return only when they are fever free,
without using medications for 24 hours.
When they have vomiting and or diarrhea.
When have eyes that are red itchy, crusty and watery.
When they have a cold: cough or sore throat, even though they may not have a fever.
If they have been injured at home, hospitalized or out of school with an illness, please bring your child to the
nurse with a written release from their doctor. If your child has any restrictions for recess and/or gym, the note
must be brought to the office.
Notify our office of any new health issues or medications. NEVER send medications to school with your child
or a note asking their teacher to give your child medication. This is not allowed in our district, even if it is an over
the counter medication! School board policies regulated by state and federal laws require a medication consent
form be completed by the parents and doctor, available from the nurse, and brought by the parent to the nurse in
the properly labeled container. Please contact us if you have any questions about giving medications at school.
If your child wears glasses, be sure they have them at school every day and that they are in good repair!
Please let the nurse and teacher know.
Please make sure you update your child's emergency card in the office when there has been a change in your
phone numbers at home, work and emergency contact people. All too often there are sick children in our office for
whom we are unable to contact anyone.
Using this information will help us keep your children healthy and safe.

Si han estado con estos síntomas en casa, hospitalizados o fuera de la escuela por alguna enfermedad, por favor
envíe a su hijo a la escuela con una nota del doctor autorizando que ya puede regresar a clases y con algún tipo de restricción (de parte del médico) como no tener recreo y no ir a las clases de Educación. Física.
Notifique a la oficina de enfermería de la escuela de algún problema nuevo de salud o si su hijo (a) esta bajo
algún medicamento. NUNCA envíe medicamentos a la escuela con sus hijos para que ellos se los tomen solos o una nota
pidiendo a la maestra que le de el medicamento a sus hijos. Esto no es permitido en nuestro distrito, aun si es un medicamento que se toma sin receta médica! Las políticas de la escuela son reguladas por las leyes del estado federal y requieren que todo medicamento debe ser debidamente administrado con una forma que deben llenar los padres y el doctor, disponible para la enfermera y traída a la escuela por el padre debidamente etiquetada y en un recipiente especial.
Por favor, contáctenos a la escuela si tienen preguntas sobre como dar los medicamentos en la escuela.
Si su niño esta supuesto a usar lentes en la escuela, asegúrese que los traigan a la escuela todos los días y que estos estén en buenas condiciones! Por favor, hágale saber a la maestra y a la enfermera.
Por favor, asegúrense de actualizar la tarjeta de registración de su hijo (a) en la oficina cuando han habido cambios en sus teléfonos de casa, del trabajo o de alguna persona que usted puso en los contactos de emergencia.
Seguido tenemos a estudiantes enfermos en nuestra oficina y no podemos contactar a ninguna de las personas que están
en sus tarjetas de registración.
