Christ the King Mission Statement
Our community serves the mission of Jesus Christ, to make disciples of all nations, welcoming them into the loving family
of God. United in the Eucharist and blessed by a diversity of gifts, we desire to give glory to God and to build His Kingdom
"on earth as it is in Heaven".
The Fall 40 Days For Life Campaign began on Wednesday, September 23 and runs through Sunday, November 1. Both the
Chandler and the Tempe Planned Parenthood sites will be part of the hundreds of locations participating in this lifesaving effort. Do you have an hour to go out and pray? Be a public witness and stand for the timeless truth that will
never change: every human life is a unique gift from God, and deserves protection from conception to natural death.
-Chandler Planned Parenthood: 610 N. Alma School Rd., Chandler in the Waterfall Shopping Plaza (you must stand on the
sidewalk on Alma School, NOT directly in front of the clinic). Sign up to go pray for any hour between 6am and 6 pm
at https://40daysforlife.com/local-campaigns/chandler/
-Tempe Planned Parenthood: 1250 East Apache Boulevard, Tempe (you must stand on the sidewalk on Apache, or on the
sidewalk on Dorsey, NOT directly in front of the clinic). Sign up to go pray for any hour between 6am and
6pm at https://40daysforlife.com/local-campaigns/tempe/
Sign up with a friend, grab your water bottle and hat, and get ready to be a sidewalk warrior! No experience necessary just the desire to be God's ambassador. If you have any questions or need a prayer buddy, please contact Doris Ramirez
at [email protected].
**Can't go out to pray on the sidewalk but still want to be part of the effort? Visit https://40daysforlife.com/ to find out
more about the campaign and to sign up to receive daily emails that will inspire, encourage, and enlighten you!

From Our Parochial Vicar...
The Holy Spirit is alive in the Church! Just as Moses did not stop the men prophesying in the Holy
Spirit in our first reading from the Book of Numbers, Jesus does not stop the men doing the work of
faith in His Name in our gospel reading from Mark. We are all called, invited to do the work of God
as Christian disciples in a culture of charity. But our culture, today, often lacks charity, and we can be
swayed by the riches of the world that lead to pride in ourselves.
Love is not prideful, and it does not lead anyone astray from the truth. If we are ever distant, we can return to the
truth. We trust in Jesus Christ, who is at work in the Church through the Holy Spirit, and we are invited to be
trustworthy co-workers of our Lord in professing the truth. As we are washed clean and born in the Spirit at
Baptism, our faith should grow and our ‘yes’ becomes stronger.
May we take time this week to pray and renew ourselves as members of the Body of Christ, called to be His
disciples. Borrowing from the Rite of Baptism For Children, we listen to the Church addressing parents and
godparents as they commit to living the faith and raising their child in the faith: “If your faith makes you ready to
accept this responsibility, renew now the vows of your own Baptism. Reject sin; profess your faith in Christ Jesus. This
is the faith of the Church. This is the faith in which these children are about to be baptized.” As we keep this
responsibility of living our faith throughout our life, let us place ourselves before Jesus to make a renunciation of our
sins and a profession of faith:
Do you reject Satan?
I do.
And all his works?
I do.
And all his empty promises?
I do.
Do you believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth?
I do.
Do you believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified,
died, and was buried, rose from the dead, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father?
I do.
Do you believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of
sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting?
I do.
This is our faith. This is the faith of the Church. We are proud to profess it, in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Amen.
In Christ,
Parochial Vicar

Dear Parishioners,
Next Sunday, after the 7, 9, and 11
am Masses (in Presentation Hall)
is a special mini-presentation
about using tax credits to support
students in Catholic School. Many Catholic children
have had the privilege of attending private school
thanks to Arizona's school choice program. Many
Catholic families aspire to educate their children both
academically and spiritually in private Catholic
schools. Tuition does NOT have to be an obstacle if we
can rally our Catholic community to simply redirect their
state income taxes towards our private schools.
We have developed a weekly workshop here at Christ
the King to teach the basics of AZ Tax Credits. The
presentation is only a short 35-45 minutes in the 5th
grade science room. Although the presentation is
geared toward our school, you can choose to help any
individual, school or qualified charity, at NO COST to
you, with this information.
This workshop is every Tuesday at 6:00 pm, but also
next Sunday, October 4th in Presentation Hall after
Mass while the school hosts Coffee and Donuts.

Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Prayer for Vocations
O God, who wills not the death of a sinner but rather that he be converted and live, grant we beseech You through
the intercession of Blessed Mary, ever Virgin, Saint Joseph her spouse, Blessed Junipero Serra, and all the saints,
an increase of laborers for Your Church, to spend and consume themselves for souls. Through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Holy God we praise Thy name. Lord of all we bow before Thee.
All on earth Thy scepter claim, all in heaven above adore Thee.
Infinite Thy vast domain, everlasting is Thy reign.
Dn 3: 31, 29, 30, 43, 42
All that you have done to us, O Lord,
you have done with true judgment,
for we have sinned against you
and not obeyed your commandments.
But give glory to your name and deal with us
according to the bounty of your mercy.
Hark the glad celestial hymn, angel choirs above are raising.
Cherubim and seraphim in unceasing chorus praising.
Fill the heavens with sweet accord, Holy holy holy Lord.
We praise You with one heart,
We bless you with one mind,
We bow down in awe of your might,
For You alone are holy.
Holy Father holy Son, Holy Spirit three we name Thee.
Though in essence only one, undivided God we claim Thee.
And adoring bend the knee, while we sing our praise to Thee.

Lord, I come, I confess, bowing here I find my rest
Without You I fall apart, You're the One that guides my heart
Lord, I need You, Oh, I need You, every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness. Oh God, how I need You
Where sin runs deep Your grace is more.
Where grace is found is where You are
And where You are, Lord, I am free, holiness is Christ in me
So, teach my song to rise to You when temptation comes my way
And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You, Jesus, You're my hope and stay
1 Jn 3: 16
By this we came to know the love of God:
that Christ laid down his life for us;
so we ought to lay down our lives for one another.

Behold the wood that bears our name
Behold the nails that hold our sin
The tree from which salvation blooms
The death by which we're born again
We
We
We
We
take up our cross and follow Him
lay down our lives that we might live
carry the hope of Christ within
take up our cross and follow Him
We embrace the sacrifice
And walk the path we cannot see
The burdens of this world made light
By blood and thorn we are redeemed
Text: Edwin Hatch Music: ST. COLUMBA
O Breathe on me, O Breath of God,
fill me with life anew,
that I may love the things You love,
and do what You would do.
O Breathe on me, O Breath of God,
until my heart is pure,
until my will is one with yours,
to do and to endure.
O Breathe on me, O Breath of God,
my will to Yours incline,
Until this selfish part of me
glows with Thy fire divine.
O Breathe on me, O Breath of God,
so shall I never die,
But live with You the perfect life for all eternity.
Lift Him high, lift Him high,
Let His name be glorified
Lift Him high, lift Him high,
Let His name be glorified

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God,
Have mercy on me, have mercy on me.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God,
Have mercy on me, have mercy on me. Amen.
Jesus, I trust in you. Jesus, I trust in you.
You are the Son of the Living God,
Jesus, I trust in you. Jesus, I trust in you.
Great is your faithfulness oh God of Jacob.
You wrestle with the sinners restless heart.
You lead me by still waters into mercy
Where nothing can keep us apart.
So remember Your people, remember Your children,
Remember Your promise, O God.
For Your grace is enough, Your grace is enough,
Your grace is enough for me.
Great is Your love and justice God of Jacob.
You use the weak to lead the strong.
You lead us in the song of Heaven’s victory
And all Your people sing along.

¿Renuncian ustedes a Satanás?
