Divine Mercy is prayed every day at 3:00 pm the chapel. “Your task is to write down everything that I make known to you about My mercy for the benefit of those who by reading these things will be comforted in their souls and will have the courage to approach Me.” (Diary, 1693) From the Diary of St. Faustina Open Your Heart Tell souls not to place within their own hearts obstacles to My mercy, which so greatly wants to act within them. My mercy works in all those hearts which open their doors to it. Both the sinner and the righteous person have need of My mercy. Conversion, as well as perseverance, is a grace of My mercy. (Diary #1577) For more information on the Divine Mercy Devotions, please contact Maria Beck at 832-618-0726. Mass Intention Requests Intentions are available on a first come first served basis. St. Bartholomew the Apostle Catholic Church, Katy, Texas 281-391-4758 Outreach / Respect Life 6 A Prayer for our Nation as we Prepare to Elect our Leaders Los Sacerdotes por la Vida invitan a los creyentes a participar en la “Novena por las Elecciones” diciendo la siguiente oración cada día: O God, we acknowledge you today as Lord, Not only of individuals, but of nations and governments. We thank you for the privilege Of being able to organize ourselves politically And of knowing that political loyalty Does not have to mean disloyalty to you. We thank you for your law, Which our Founding Fathers acknowledged And recognized as higher than any human law. We thank you for the opportunity that this election year puts before us, To exercise our solemn duty not only to vote, But to influence countless others to vote, And to vote correctly. Lord, we pray that your people may be awakened. Let them realize that while politics is not their salvation, Their response to you requires that they be politically active. Awaken your people to know that they are not called to be a sect fleeing the world But rather a community of faith renewing the world. Awaken them that the same hands lifted up to you in prayer Are the hands that pull the lever in the voting booth; That the same eyes that read your Word Are the eyes that read the names on the ballot, And that they do not cease to be Christians When they enter the voting booth. Awaken your people to a commitment to justice To the sanctity of marriage and the family, To the dignity of each individual human life, And to the truth that human rights begin when human lives begin, And not one moment later. Lord, we rejoice today That we are citizens of your kingdom. May that make us all the more committed To being faithful citizens on earth. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. DEVOTIONALS The 40 Days for Life campaign is firmly rooted on a foundation of prayer and fasting. To help maintain focus on the Lord and stay in tune with His guidance, we will prepare and distribute a series of daily devotionals — one for each of the 40 days of the campaign https://40daysforlife. com/devotionals/ O, Dios te damos gracias por el privilegio De poder organizarnos políticamente Y por reconocer que la lealtad política No significa que seamos desleales a ti. Every family should look to the icon of the Holy Family of Nazareth. Its daily life had its share of burdens. Like the Magi, our families are invited to contemplate the Child and his Mother. Like Mary, they face their family’s challenges with courage and serenity. The treasury of Mary’s heart also contains the experiences of every family. She can help us understand the meaning of these experiences that the message of God wishes to communicate through the life of our families. CHAPTER TWO THE EXPERIENCES AND CHALLENGES OF FAMILIES 31. The welfare of the family is decisive for the future of the world and that of the Church. We do well to focus on concrete realities, since “the call and the demands of the Spirit resound in the events of history.” Because the Synod Fathers examined the situation of families worldwide, I consider it fitting to take up some of their pastoral insights along with my own experience. THE CURRENT REALITY OF THE FAMILY 32. Faithful to Christ’s teaching we look to the family today in all its complexity. It calls for an analytic and diversified approach. Families today enjoy greater freedom and an emphasis on personal communication between spouses. Also the anthropological-cultural changes are leading family life to receive less and less support from social structures than in the past. 33. Consideration needs to be given to an extreme individualism that weakens family bonds, considering each member of the family as an isolated unit. One’s personality often is shaped by desires that are considered absolute. An overly individualistic culture, caught up with possessions and pleasure, leads to intolerance and hostility. Here I would also include today’s fast paced life. We can also encounter a widespread uncertainty and ambiguity. We value a personalism that, if misdirected, can foster attitudes of constant suspicion, fear of commitment and self-centeredness. Freedom of choice allows us to make the most of ourselves. Yet this freedom, lacking noble goals or discipline, degenerates into an inability to give of oneself generously.
