LATEST ADVANCES IN SPORTS AND WORK
LATEST ADVANCES IN SPORTS AND WORK-INJURY MEDICINE, SEVILLA 2012 Latest advances and new techniques in shoulder, knee and biologics Sevilla, 27-28 September 2012 Dear Friends and Colleagues, Scientific knowledge doubles every six months. Because of the time demands of the medical professional’s career, it is practically impossible to keep up to date in the latest concepts and advances in the subspecialties of our field. The purpose of this conference is to facilitate knowledge in an active, rather than a passive form, as well as to provide the opportunity to interact with some of the most accomplished arthroscopists and sports medicine specialists in the world. These surgeons are consultants to elite level athletes, including professional soccer (FC Barcelona, Espanyol, Deportiva de la Coruna), tennis (Davis Cup Spanish national team), American football (Pittsburgh Steelers), ice hockey (Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators), windsurf, etc. The content of the course is centered on areas of controversy and major interest in sports and work injuries, where the newest evidence-based knowledge will be presented by experts in the field to facilitate understanding and practical application in the participants’ own practices. The techniques to be discussed and demonstrated are of tested effectiveness with the fundamental objective of returning the patient to their respective sport or occupation as quickly as possible and at the same level as prior to the injury. The knowledge of caring for elite athletes can also be taken advantage of when applied to injured laborers. The ultimate goal of the course is to come away with knowledge that can help us all provide the best possible care to our injured athletic and working patient populations. The course is designed not only for practicing orthopedic surgeons, but also for all members of the team that care for these patients including physical and occupational therapists, etc. Given the prestigious course faculty, we hope that this conference will be of interest to and generate links between all those attending.
