WHY SPAIN?
Studying in Spain has become in recent years a
safe bet in education for two main reasons:
More than 500 million people in the world speak
Spanish. Spanish is the 2nd-ranking language in
terms of number of speakers and the second most
spoken language in international communication.
The international prestige education in Spain has
acquired. Education in Spain is compulsory for
people under 16 and the education authorities
have given citizen of other countries the
opportunity to join the education community,

Spanish education system
The high quality of the Spanish education system is internationally
recognized. In general terms, three different kinds of schools exist:
“escuelas públicas” (state schools), “escuelas privadas” (private schools)
and “escuelas concertadas” (semi-private schools). The program hereby
presented by theIEX is carried out in private or semi-private schools with host
family accommodation or, in some cases, residential accommodation.
The Spanish school system is structured in four levels: “Infantil” (3-5 years),
“Primaria” (6-11 years), “ESO – Enseñaza Secundaria Obligatoria” (12-15
years) and “Bachillerato” (16-18 years).
Our host families
Host families are as diverse as the landscape or the traditions in Spain.
Spanish society is modern, open to diversity and tolerant with different
cultures, but generally speaking, the most usually found is the traditional
Spanish family, where one or both members of the couple work outside of
the house. It is not strange to find a stay-at-home mom, though.
All our host families are carefully selected with help from the schools and are
police-checked.

Our Spanish Summer Camps are the best choice for those
young international campers who wish to live a few weeks
surrounded by nature in a totally Spanish environment,
practising Spanish in a real-life situation, sharing the
experience with Spanish campers of the same age and

The student is enrolled in a
Spanish school for a short period
of time that can be either 4,
8, 10, 12 or 16 weeks. During
that time, he/she will live with a
Spanish host family.
The participant will study the
Spanish official subjects for his/
her equivalent year at school.
Due to not being a full year,
these subjects can not be
validated usually upon return to
the home country. However, the
benefits of studying them with
a different methodology and
language are unquestionable.

Dance & Spanish
The course combine the Spanish classes with
Spanish and Latin American dance
like Flamenco, Salsa, Tango or Sevillanas.
It is a way to make the study holiday

The Intensive Spanish Course offers the
right balance between classroom study,
self-study and of course enough free time
to explore Madrid in all its beauty.
This course is the perfect recipe for fast
results since classes are taught at a quick
pace and of course completely in Spanish,
with an excellent teaching technique that
actively engages in what the student
learns, making it a lot easier to memorise.
The communication skills improve learning
useful phrases and practicing grammar.
What is the DELE extension? The DELE
(or Diploma de Español Como Lengua
Extranjera) is the internationally recognised
official qualification of Spanish as a second
language. So, if you need to certify your
Spanish skills for studies/employment or
you just love Spanish, this is your course.

Spanish GAP Year
There are two full program options of Spanish language and culture
consisting of 16 or 28 weeks. Such stay will ensure a high proficiency,
when not an absolute mastery of your Spanish language skills, no matter
if you start with no prior knowledge. This option also allows you to get to
know Spain from the point of view of a resident, not a tourist.

II. Obtain the DELE
Certificate
Combining the acquisition of a foreign
language with getting to know the cultures
and places in which the same language is
spoken seems to many of our students as the
perfect way to have fun and make a gap year
“worthwhile”.
This program brings you the opportunity to certify
your knowledge of the language through an official
certificate issued by the Cervantes Institute. If you
choose to take this exam, you can combine your gap
year stay with preparing yourself for the final DELE exam.
The Madrid stay is divided into two parts: 16 weeks
course of Spanish language and culture and 4 weeks of
preparation of the DELE examination, so that at the end
of 28 weeks bettwen Madrid, Granada and Barcelona.

The system is built on strong pillars of social prestige of their teachers,

Our proposals for summer in Canada revolve around a
host family or student residence, a school specialized in
language training and a social program that completes
the international experience abroad.
Among the programs that we offer, you will find
alternatives where language training is the main priority
(up to 30 hours of English classes) and programs where

goal: make the first international experience of the students as

The exam preparation itinerary offers several
options to prepare one of the official English
Language Examination. These official certificates
are most of the time a requisite to access
University and, undoubtedly, a “must-have” in

In order to change this, the Canadian Government put in place many years ago,
the so-called, Explore Programs. These programs offer the possibility to Canadian
French-speakers teenagers to take part in English Intensive Programs during the
summer where they gain credits for school and improve their English thanks to classes,
workshops, activities and the time spent with their English-speaking teachers, counselors
and host families.
Although most of the students are French-Canadians, a small percentage of
international students is also allowed to take part in these programs and theIEX

4. REVIEW OF PRICES. Prices of the programs are subject to possible variations, both upwards and
downwards, as a result of currency fluctuations, increased freight rates, fuel costs, and taxes and
fees applicable under the General Conditions of the brochure and website of the ongoing year. The
program cost is calculated on the price the relevant currency based on the following exchange
rate: € 1 = 1.53 CAD; € 1 = $ 1.08; € 1 = £ 0.75; ; 1 €=1,52 AUD. The difference, either upward or
downward, will be passed on to the customer upon delivery of the final invoice. Variations in prices
shall be notified to the consumer in writing. The consumer may, when the variation exceeds 10% of
the total fees, withdraw from the course, or accept the modification of the contract. In any case the
price of the program will be reviewed less than twenty days prior to the start date thereof, in case
registration has already been made.

residential programs, all in Spain and abroad), destinations, duration and calendar, characteristics
