“This is my beloved Son. Listen
to him.” And listen they did. From
that moment on, Peter, James, and
John were ardent followers,
forsaking everything to follow in
their Master’s footsteps. Like the psalmist crying, “O
Lord, I am your servant,” the three disciples
committed themselves to lives of incredible hardship
and indescribable joy. After that day on the mountain,
they never again wavered in their chosen vocation.
Though our tests may not be as severe as
Abraham’s and our peak experiences not as dramatic
as the Transfiguration, we all face the daily challenges
of walking “before the Lord in the land of the living.”
As we follow our varied calls to love and serve, let’s
be comforted by Paul’s reminder to the Romans: “If
God is for us, who can be against us?”

Parish Council: Over the course of the last two
years, I have invited various parishioners to consider
serving on a newly formed parish council. If you have
been asked to consider serving in this capacity, please
join me for a brief meeting, to be held in the convent
basement, on Sunday, March 8th after the 9:30 a.m.
Mass.
Together, with a newly formed school board, and an
advisory committee for the Shrine of St. John
Neumann, we hope to begin planning for the future of
our parish, school, and shrine.

Congratulations!
Our parish recently received notification of the
performance of our high school students (attending
Roman Catholic) on the First Semester Report. We are
particularly proud of those who demonstrated academic
excellence.
Students who achieved first honors include:
Raphael Luis Padin, Jr. and Daniel L. DeJesus.
Among those earning second honors were the
following students from our parish: Timothy Martinez
and Victor Manuel Rivera.
Bishop John McIntyre will celebrate the Sacrament of
Confirmation on Saturday, March 14, 2015,
at 5:30 p.m.
Missionary Childhood Association:
The students of the sixth grade at St. Peter the
Apostle School are once again collecting for the
Missionary Childhood Association, Children Helping
Children. Please take a donation Lenten Box and help a
child in need. Our drive began on February 22, and will
end on Easter Sunday. Please be as generous as possible.

~Reflection~
Today we listen to two stories that take place on mountaintops. In the first we hear the story of how
Abraham was put to the test. He is referred to as “our father in faith” precisely because he was willing to
sacrifice his only son, Isaac, because the Lord God had commanded it. When Abraham stands ready to kill
Isaac, the Lord God intervenes, prevents the sacrifice, and blesses Abraham in abundance. In the second
story, the only Son of God is transfigured on a mountaintop before the eyes of Peter, James, and John. As the
sacred word is proclaimed, let us ask God to strengthen our own faith and lead us one day to share in the
transfigured glory of Christ.

“Este es mi Hijo amado;
escúchenlo”. Y sí que lo
escucharon.
Desde
ese
momento, Pedro, Santiago y
Juan fueron sus ardientes
seguidores, desechándolo todo
para seguir las huellas del Maestro. Tal como
proclama el salmista, “Señor, he aquí tu servidor”, los
tres discípulos se comprometieron a vidas de increíbles
penurias e indescriptible gozo. Después de ese día en
la montaña, nunca más dudaron de la vocación
escogida.
Aunque nuestras pruebas no sean tan severas como
la de Abraham, ni nuestros momentos sublimes tan
dramáticos
como la Transfiguración, todos
confrontamos los retos cotidianos de caminar “en
presencia del Señor en el país de la vida”. Mientras
seguimos nuestros diversos llamados a amar y servir,
seamos confortados por lo que Pablo les recuerda a los
romanos: “Si Dios está a nuestro favor, ¿quién estará
en contra nuestra?”

servir en el consejo parroquial recientemente formado.
Si se le ha pedido que considere servir en esta
capacidad, favor únase conmigo para una reunión

~Noticias de la Escuela y la Educación Religiosa~
¡ Felicidades!
Nuestra parroquia recientemente recibió la
notificación de los resultados de nuestros estudiantes de
la escuela secundaria ( que asisten a Roman Catholic) en
el reporte del Primer Semestre. Estamos especialmente
orgullosos de los que demostraron su excelencia
académica.
Los estudiantes que alcanzaron primeros honores

Asociación Misionera de la Infancia:
Los estudiantes del sexto grado de la Escuela San
Pedro el Apóstol, una vez más están colectando para la
Asociación Misionera de la Infancia, Niños Ayudando

~Reflexión~
Hoy escuchamos dos historias que tienen lugar en la cima de unas montañas. En la primera historia
escuchamos la historia de cómo Abraham fue puesto a prueba. A él se le llama “nuestro padre en la fe”
precisamente pues estuvo dispuesto a sacrificar a su único hijo, Isaac, porque el Señor Dios se lo había
pedido. En el momento en que Abraham se dispone a matar a Isaac el Señor Dios interviene e impide el
sacrificio y además bendice abundantemente a Abraham. En la segunda historia el Hijo único de Dios es
transfigurado en lo alto de una montaña ante los ojos de Pedro, Santiago y Juan. Al proclamarse la Sagrada
Palabra pidámosle a Dios que fortalezca nuestra propia fe y nos lleve un día a participar en la gloria
transfigurada de Cristo.
