Happy Gaudete Sunday! Break out the Rose colored vestments. Let us
Rejoice for the Lord is near. Gaudete is the La n word for “rejoice.” This third
Sunday of Advent is a me when we recognize that me is too short to be truly
ready for Christmas so why panic when you can rejoice and take in the sights
and sounds of the season? Last weekend I did a blessing of liturgical items
among which was a rose vestment purchased by the St. Clement Catholic Women (SCCW) to be used this weekend and one Sunday during Lent. The Church in
her wisdom brings out the rose in rare moments during seasons of prepara on
to remind us that there is joy in the journey. The great preacher of repentance
is once again in the Gospel reading this weekend. John the Bap st, perhaps
more than any other Biblical figure can compel one to go to confession. This
Monday is our Advent Penance Service at 7pm where a number of priests will be
available for the sacrament of reconcilia on. If you cannot make it for whatever
reason but would like to a end an Advent Penance Service locally you could go
on Tuesday evening at 7pm to St. Stephen in Valrico or 7:30pm to Resurrec on
in Lakeland.

OLG appeared in Mexico as the pregnant Mother of God to
St. Juan Diego, an Indian, in 1531. She le a Miraculous Image of her appearance on his cactus fiber cloak which s ll

Queridos Amigos en Cristo,
Feliz Domingo de “Gaudete”. Que saquen las ves mentas rosas. Alegrémonos porque el Señor esta cerca. “Gaudete” es la palabra la na para "alegría".
Este tercer domingo de Adviento es cuando reconocemos que el empo es demasiado corto para estar verdaderamente preparados para la Navidad, así que
para que estar en pánico, cuando puede regocijarse y disfrutar de las vistas y sonidos de la temporada? La semana pasada hice una bendición de objetos litúrgicos, entre ellos una ves dura rosa, comprada por el Grupo de Mujeres Católicas
(SCCW) que se u lizará este fin de semana y un domingo durante la Cuaresma.
La Iglesia, en su sabiduría, saca la rosa en momentos raros durante temporadas
de preparación para recordarnos que hay gozo en la jornada. El gran predicador
de arrepen miento esta una vez más en la lectura del Evangelio este fin de semana. Juan el Bau sta, tal vez más que cualquier otro personaje bíblico, nos anima que vallamos a confesarnos. Este lunes es nuestro Servicio de Penitencia de
Adviento a las 7pm donde habrá varios sacerdotes disponibles para el sacramento de la reconciliación. Si no puede venir por la razón que sea, pero le gustaría
asis r a un Servicio de Penitencia de Adviento puede ir el martes por la noche a
St. Stephen en Valrico a las 7:00pm o a la Iglesia de la Resurrección en Lakeland a
las 7:30pm.
