Dr. Gabriel Navarrete-Vazquez received the B.S. degree in Chemistry and Pharmacy, and the M. Sc. and the Ph.D. degrees in medicinal chemistry from the National
University of Mexico (UNAM) in Mexico City. He attended twice the prestigious
course “Residential School on Medicinal Chemistry and biology in drug discovery” in
Drew University, N.J. USA. He serves as a full-time Professor of Organic and
Medicinal Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universidad Autónoma del Estado
de Morelos, Cuernavaca, Mexico. He has been a Member of the American Chemical Society, divisions of
Medicinal Chemistry and Organic Chemistry, since 2000. He is serving as editor in 3 journals. His scientific production focuses on the design and synthesis of bioactive synthetic and natural compounds, the
study of their pharmacological actions, and the structure-activity relationships, with more than 70 publications on pub med and H – index 19. His research group is interested in the microwave-assisted organic
synthesis, in silico PD/PK-ADMET predictions, molecular docking and medicinal chemistry of azaheterocycles with antidiabesity, antihypertensive, antiparasitic, antimycobacterial and antinociceptive activities.
He has also received several honors and awards such as “National Researcher level 3 (SNI 3)”. Over the
past 12 years, he has mentored more than 50 undergraduate and graduate students including postdoctoral
fellows.
