Welcome to TouchChat
TouchChat is a full-featured communication app for individuals who have difficulty using their natural
voice. TouchChat is designed for individuals with Autism, Down Syndrome, ALS, apraxia, stroke, or other
conditions that affect a person's ability to use natural speech.
This manual provides instructions for most operations available within TouchChat.

Opening TouchChat
To open TouchChat from the home screen, tap the TouchChat app.
Closing TouchChat
There is a difference between minimizing the application and closing it. Tapping the Home button
minimizes the application, but it continues to run in the background. To close TouchChat or any other
application:
1. Tap the Home button on the device. This will minimize, not close, the application.
2. Double-tap the Home button. This will open the multi-tasking screen.
3. Drag the app up from the multi-tasking screen.
4. Once the application is closed, press the Home button to return to the desktop.
Working with TouchChat Menus
To access the TouchChat menus, tap Menu. Menu options depend on where you are in the application
and whether Edit Mode is turned on. For example:

Working with Vocabulary Files
TouchChat provides a variety of pages that have different button layouts. Each set of pages, or
vocabulary set, is called a vocabulary file. TouchChat-provided vocabulary files have locks in front of
them indicating they cannot be deleted. TouchChat provides the following vocabulary files:
English files: 4-Basic, MyCore, Spelling, VocabPC, MultiChat 15, and myQuickChat (4, 8, and 12
locations).
Spanish files: MultiChat 15 Spanish Bilingual, MultiChat 15 Spanish, Sin sintaxis 4 x 4 English and Spanish,
Sintaxis 4 x 5 English and Spanish, Teclado, and VocabPC Spanish.
English Vocabulary Files
Note: When the system language is set to English, the English vocabulary files will be listed individually
when you tap Choose New Vocab and the Spanish vocabulary files will be located in a folder labeled
“español”. When the language is set to Spanish, the Spanish vocabulary files will be listed individually
when you tap Choose New Vocab and the English files will be located in a folder labeled “English”.
4-Basic
4-Basic offers just that, a basic vocabulary option with 4 buttons per page.
myCore
myCore is a combination of core and phrase-based vocabulary geared toward individuals who have
literacy skills.
Spelling
Spelling is a QWERTY keyboard page set with four word prediction buttons and a few pre-stored
phrases.
VocabPC
VocabPC was designed by Gail Van Tatenhove, PA, MS, CCC-SLP, for adults and adolescents with
developmental disabilities. Vocabulary in VocabPC is arranged as carrier phrases, interactive sentences,
activity vocabulary and naming words. VocabPC uses a 12 location page layout. Both portrait and
landscape versions of VocabPC are included.
MultiChat 15
MultiChat 15 is now offered in a Student, Adolescent and Adult version and was created for individuals
with emerging language skills. There are multiple forms of communication available in this program:
sentences, phrases, individual words, recordings for story-telling and visual scenes. Also included are
interactive play and reading pages, and social pages. There are symbols on every button with the
exception of several core words.
myQuickChat
myQuickChat is an introductory communication system geared toward child and adult AAC users with
complex communication needs. myQuickChat is available for both kids and adults in 4, 8, and 12
locations, each with an identical 16-location Support Master Home Page. myQuickChat was created to
offer a high frequency, phrase-based communication system in an easy to use yet very engaging format.

The progressive system offers a variety of topics for everyday needs and conversation and provides AAC
users immediate and more successful communication exchanges within a variety of settings.
Spanish Vocabulary Files
Note: When the system language is set to Spanish, the Spanish vocabulary files will be listed individually
when you tap Choose New Vocab and the English vocabulary files will be located in a folder labeled
“English”. When the language is set to English, the English vocabulary files will be listed individually when
you tap Choose New Vocab and the Spanish vocabulary files will be located in a folder named “español”.
MultiChat 15 Spanish
MultiChat 15 Spanish is the student version developed for devices running TouchChat. This Spanish
version is very similar to the English MultiChat 15 Student file. However, due to the differences in the
two languages, some changes have been made to accurately represent each language.
MultiChat 15 Spanish Bilingual
This vocabulary file is exactly the same as the MultiChat 15 Spanish file except that the labels on the
buttons show both English and Spanish words or phrases. Please note that when the device speaks the
words or phrases, they are only spoken in Spanish.
Sin sintaxis 4 x 4 English and Spanish
Sin sintaxis 4 x 4 English and Spanish consists of categories of words with a symbol on each button. This
file is intended for children who do not have the ability to construct sentences yet.
Sintaxis 4 x 5 English and Spanish
Sintaxis 4 x 5 English and Spanish is intended for children who are beginning to create simple sentences.
Each page contains 20 buttons, and each button contains a word or phrase with a picture. Words are
organized into categories with some core words for creating beginning sentences.
Teclado
Teclado is a Spanish keyboard.
VocabPC Spanish
VocabPC Spanish is a direct translation of the English version. VocabPC was designed by Gail Van
Tatenhove, PA, MS, CCC-SLP, for adults and adolescents with developmental disabilities. Vocabulary in
VocabPC is arranged as carrier phrases, interactive sentences, activity vocabulary, and naming words.
Downloading or Purchasing Additional Vocabulary Files
The vocabulary file Primary is no longer included on the device by default. Primary is available for
downloading from http://touchchatapp.com/support/articles or http://touchchatapp.com/pagesets#pageset_primary.
You can also purchase WordPower vocabulary files for both English and Spanish by going to the Upgrade
Store and selecting “WordPower Vocabulary”.
Note: To learn how to get started with WordPower and how to use WordPower vocabulary files, you can

Loading a Vocabulary File
1. Tap Vocab. Choose New Vocab will be displayed.
2. Tap Choose New Vocab. A page will display a list of the available vocabulary files. Scroll down to see
them all.
3. Select the vocabulary file you want to load.
4. Once loaded, explore the pages and button organization by choosing the buttons. Buttons with
arrows will navigate to new pages.
Note: After choosing an appropriate vocabulary file, you must make a copy of the file before you can
customize it. See “Customizing a Vocabulary File” and “Copying a Vocabulary File”.
Customizing a Vocabulary File
Before making any customizations, we suggest that you set the system language to your language. For
information on changing the system language, see “Changing Word Prediction Dictionaries”.
Copying a Vocabulary File
To customize an original vocabulary file, you must first make a copy of the original file. Once you make a
copy, you can edit the copy. This keeps the original files in place in case they are needed at a later time.
1. Tap Vocab and tap Choose New Vocab.
2. Tap Menu and tap Copy a Vocab.
3. Tap the vocabulary file to copy.
4. Give the file a new title and description.
5. Tap Save.
6. Tap the new file name to open the file.
Creating a New Blank Vocabulary File
Note: Before making any modifications, we suggest that you set the system language to your language.
2. Tap Menu and tap Create New Vocab.
3. Give the new vocabulary file a title and description.
4. Tap Save.

5. Scroll to the new file you created and tap it to open it.
6. Tap Menu and tap Edit Page. A page of blank buttons
opens.
7. For each blank button, select Create New Button or Copy
Existing Button.
8. When you finish, tap Done. You have created the first
page of your new vocabulary.
Deleting a Vocabulary File
1. From the home page of the vocabulary file, tap Vocab.
2. Tap Choose New Vocab.
3. Tap Edit.
4. The delete icon will appear to the left of the padlock images. You will only be able to delete
custom vocabulary files. The original vocab files are displayed with a locked padlock and cannot be
deleted.
5. When you tap the delete icon , “Delete” will appear on the far right side.
6. Tap Delete and the vocabulary file will be deleted from TouchChat. Tap Done.

Turning Edit Mode On
Once an original vocabulary file is copied, the file may be edited.
1. Go to the page where the button will be created.
2. Tap Menu.
3. Tap Edit Page.
4. Now that the page is in Edit Mode, tap the button you want to modify.
5. Tap Edit This Button.
Chat Editor
Chat Editor is a supplemental program that runs on a Windows desktop or laptop computer. It allows
you to customize vocabulary files. Although customizing is also possible on the device itself, the Editor
allows the family and/or professionals to customize the vocabulary when the device is not present.
Note: Having the custom vocabulary on a computer is always recommended as a backup to the device.
Downloading and Installing Chat Editor
Important! With software release 2.0, we replaced Touch Chat Windows Editor with Chat Editor. If you have
used Touch Chat Windows Editor in the past, it will no longer work with 2.0 files or newer.
The installation process installs Chat Editor on your computer and creates desktop shortcuts to the
“Chat Editor” application and the “Chat Editor Import” folder.
Hint: To see a video that explains how to download and install Chat Editor, go to
http://touchchatapp.com/support/videos/touchchat-chat-editor-installation
To download and install Chat Editor:
1. Go to http://touchchatapp.com/support/software-updates
2. Under “Chat Editor for Windows”, select the Download version link.
3. Save the downloaded Chat Editor_x.x.x_Setup.exe file to your desktop.
4. Double-click the Chat Editor_x.x.x_Setup.exe file to start the installation process.
5. Select the language you want to use for the installation and click OK.
6. Click Next, accept the license agreement, and click Next.
7. Click Install. When the installation process is complete, click Finish. You should see desktop
shortcuts to the “Chat Editor” application and the “Chat Editor Import” folder.

Configuring Chat Editor
1. Double-click the “Chat Editor” desktop shortcut to open Chat Editor.
2. Select Touch Chat from the Choose Product window and click OK.
3. Select your language from the Choose Language window and click OK.
4. Select one or more symbol sets from the Choose Symbol Sets window.
Important! This symbol set must match what is on the device you are supporting.
5. Click OK.
6. Type a descriptive name for the configuration in the Enter Name window and click OK.
7. Chat Editor will open.
Note: You may need to set up multiple configurations if you support more than one client. For example:
Tommy with only SymbolStix images and Sarah with both SymbolStix and PCS symbols.
Enabling Speech in Chat Editor
Note: When you install Chat Editor on a computer that had Chat Editor installed previously, speech will
be enabled.
When you install Chat Editor on a computer that did not have Chat Editor installed previously, the
following message will be displayed:
Speech is currently disabled.
Please connect a Nova Chat device to this computer to enable speech.
Choose OK to close the message.
To enable speech in Chat Editor, simply connect a USB cable between your computer and your device.
Test the Editor to verify that speech is now working and then disconnect the cable. Speech will now be
enabled whenever you use the Editor; you will not need to re-connect the cable.
Opening Chat Editor
To open the Editor for normal use after you have set up a configuration, choose the Chat Editor shortcut
from your computer’s desktop. The Editor will open on your computer.

Using Chat Editor to Create Instructional Materials
Capture sequences of buttons from screens in Chat Editor to paste into instructional materials you
create such as Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, flash cards, etc.
1. In Chat Editor, choose Capture in the top section of the Editor window. The Button Capture window
will open.
2. With Capture Selections selected, start selecting the buttons you want to appear in your document.
Each button you select will be captured in the Button Capture window.
3. When you finish capturing a sequence of buttons, choose Copy to Clipboard. The sequence will be
cleared from the Button Capture window.
4. In your document, insert the cursor and select Paste. The sequence will be pasted into the
document.
5. Capture the next sequence.
6. When you finish capturing sequences, select Exit to close the Button Capture window.
Notes on Capturing Button Sequences
If you need to try several sequences to find the one you want, turn off Capture Selections. Once you
decide what you want to capture, turn Capture Selections back on.
If you make a mistake, select Clear and start capturing the sequence again. Keep in mind that Clear
removes all captured content from the Button Capture window.

Working with Buttons
What a button speaks, how it appears, what icon is shown, and what action the button will perform can
be changed on any button. All button modifications are performed in Edit Mode.
1. Tap the button you want to modify.
2. Tap Edit This Button. A window will appear that will allow you to modify the button.
Modifying Text
Within the Edit window:
1. Tap in the Button Label area to change the label that will be displayed on the button.
2. Tap in the Button Message area to change the message that will be spoken.
Inserting Special Characters
Sometimes you may need to insert a special character in a word that you type, such as a letter with an
accent; for example, ó.
On the keyboard, press and hold the applicable character key. A small menu of special characters
available for that character will open above the key. Select the special character you want.
For example, to insert the special character ó, you would hold down the “o” key on the keyboard and
select ó from the small menu.
Adding a Symbol from the SymbolStix Library
1. While in the Edit Button window, tap Select Image.
2. Tap the magnifying glass icon at the top right.
3. Type the name of the icon.
4. Tap Search on the keyboard.
5. Select the image you want.
Note: While editing a symbol, you can also choose to browse
and find your icon by choosing Select Image, then tap a
category.

Adding a Picture from the Image Library
1. Tap Menu and tap Edit Page.
2. Tap the button to which you want to add the picture.
4. Tap Import Image. A small menu opens above Import Image.
5. Tap Image Library.
6. Tap Camera Roll or another available library.
7. Find the picture want and tap it.
8. Tap Use and give the button an appropriate label.
9. Tap Save and tap Done.
Using the Camera to Take a Picture for Your Button
1. While in the Edit Button window, tap Import Image.
2. Tap Camera.
3. Take your picture by pressing the camera icon.
4. Tap Use.
5. Tap Save and Done.
Resizing a Button
2. Tap the button you want to edit and tap Change Button Size.
3. Select the appropriate number of rows and columns to cover the desired area of the message.
4. Tap Save.
Changing a Button Style
1. While still in the Edit Button window, scroll down to the area you want to edit.
2. Choose to edit the font, size, color, and border and make those changes.
3. Tap Save.

Changing a Button Action
1. While still in the Edit Button window, scroll down to the Button Actions section.
2. Tap Add.
3. Tap the appropriate action (scroll to see the full list of actions). You can tap an existing action to
change it to a different action.
Removing or Changing the Order of an Action
1. While in the Button Actions area, tap Edit. The delete icon
linked to the button.

To remove an action, tap the delete icon and then tap Delete. To rearrange the order of the
actions, touch and hold the gray bars
to the right of an action and drag the action into the
correct position.
2. Tap Done.
Creating a Button to Link to a Page
When a button action is set to Navigate or Visit you can determine what page that button will take you
to. Navigate will take you to a New Page and leave you there requiring an additional button to be hit to
return to your previous page or to the home page. Visit will take you there for one selection and
immediately return to the previous page.
The following linking button actions are available:
Navigate
Links to a new page and requires another button press to move away
from this page
Visit
Links to a page for a single hit and then automatically goes back to the
previous page
Navigate Back
Returns to the previous page
Navigate to Home
Links to the Home page of the vocabulary file

1. Turn Edit Mode on.
2. Tap the button to be linked to the next page.
4. Enter the label and message. (Entering a symbol is optional.)
5. Under the Button Actions, tap Add.
6. Select a navigation action for the button from the drop-down list (Navigate, Visit, Navigate Back,
Navigate to Home). Navigate and Visit offer a listing of pages to link to. If you choose Navigate Back or
Navigate to Home, skip to step 8.
7. Choose the page to navigate to or visit from the listing. If the page doesn’t already exist, choose + and
create a new page to link the button to.
8. Tap an animation (how the page will appear as it navigates), or tap No Animation.
9. Tap Save.
Note: There may have been a previous action on this button. To remove that action, tap Edit, tap the
delete icon , tap Delete, and tap Done.
Storing Text on a Button
1. Go to the page that includes the button on which you want
to store text.
2. Tap Menu and then tap Edit Page.
3. Tap the button on which you want to store text.
5. Name the button, and optionally create a message and modify
the style.
6. Scroll down to Button Actions and tap Add.
7. Scroll down and tap Store Text to Button. The action will be
displayed in the Button Actions section.
8. Tap Save and then tap Done.
Note: Once a sentence or phrase has been constructed, it can now be saved on a button by navigating to
the location of the Store Text button that you created. Tap the button, tap Continue, tap the button in

which you want to store the text, and then tap Okay. The text will appear in the button you selected,
and each time you tap that button it will speak that saved text.
Rearranging Buttons using Drag and Drop
1. While editing a page, touch a button and drag it to another location.
2. Upon release, the button will move to the new location. If there is already a button in the new
location, it will move to the old position.
Creating a Button that Shows Battery Status
1. Tap Menu, tap Edit Page, and tap the button where the battery status will be located.
2. Select Edit This Button.
3. Add a button label, add an icon (optional), and modify any button style, if necessary.
4. In the Button Actions section, tap Add to add an action.
5. Tap Battery Status.
6. Tap Save.
Copying and Pasting a Button Style
“Button Style” refers to the background color, the font size, and other style options that are associated
with a button. There are times when it might be faster to copy and paste a button’s style from an
existing button rather than editing each of these items on a new button.
2. Tap the button whose style you want to copy.
3. Tap Copy Button and Style.
4. Tap the button you wish to paste the style to. You are presented with two options:
•
Select Paste Style Only to change only the style of the button.
•
Select Paste Button and Style to paste the contents of the button (label, image, etc.) and the
style to the new location.
5. Select Paste Style Only.
6. Tap Done.

2. Tap the button you would like to copy.
3. Tap Copy Button and Style to copy the button.
4. Tap Done.
5. Go to the page where you wish to add the copied button.
7. Tap the location you wish to copy to.
8. Tap Paste Button and Style. The button you copied will appear in that location.
9. Tap Done.
Hiding a Button
There are times that presenting all buttons at once might be intimidating,
or in order to complete a task a button might need to be hidden.
2. Tap the button you want to hide and tap Edit This Button.
3. Turn Visible off.

3. Tap the buttons you want to hide or show.
4. Tap Menu and tap Normal Mode.
Working with Pages
TouchChat allows you to rename, duplicate, load, and create pages, choose a different keyboard, copy a
page from a different vocabulary, and add gestures to pages.
Renaming a Page
2. Tap Menu and tap Edit Page Layout.
3. In the area under Page Name, tap, then backspace to erase the name, and then type the new name.
4. Tap Save.
Duplicating a Page
2. Tap Menu and tap Import/Copy Pages.
3. Tap Duplicate This Page. A duplicate of this page will now
appear in the list of pages within this vocabulary set.
4. Tap Done.

Loading Another Page
Tap Menu and tap Edit Page.
Tap Menu and tap Load Another Page.

Copying a Page from a Different Vocabulary File
There are times that borrowing previously created pages could be a time saver. TouchChat allows you to
import multiple pages at one time.
1. Have your vocabulary file open.
3. Tap Menu and tap Import/Copy Pages.
4. Tap Import Another Page.
5. Tap the vocabulary file that contains the page you want and tap the appropriate pages to import. A
checkmark will appear following each page you tap.
6. Tap Import and tap Done.
7. While still in Edit Mode, tap the button that you want to navigate to the imported pages.
9. Give the button a label and, if needed, an icon and make any style changes you want.
10. Scroll down to Button Actions, tap Add, and then tap Navigate.

Adding a Gesture to a Page
2. Tap Menu and tap Edit Gestures.

7. To add gestures to an entire vocabulary file at one time, tap

Note: To delete a gesture action, tap Edit and tap the action
you want to delete. The delete icon will be displayed in front
of the action. Tap the delete icon to delete the action.
Editing an Abbreviation Expansion
1. Tap Menu and tap Edit Abbreviations.
2. Tap +.
3. In the space under Abbreviation, type the abbreviated form.
4. In the space under Expands to, type the full word, phrase, or
sentence that it will expand to.
Note: When typing the abbreviation, type a period after the
abbreviation to activate the action.

Editing Pronunciations
1. Tap Menu and tap Edit Pronunciations.
2. Tap +.
3. In the space under Word, type the correct spelling.
4. In the space under Pronounce As, type word phonetically or
the way it should be pronounced. Tap Pronounce Word to see
if it is pronounced correctly. If not, change the spelling until it
sounds correctly.
Note: If the word already exists in the Pronunciation list, scroll up to
find the word and then tap the word to edit to the correct
pronunciation.
Using SocialChat
Text generated with TouchChat pages can be shared with social media, such as Facebook, Tumblr, and
Twitter accounts.
1. Make sure a wireless network connection is established and accounts for the preferred social
network are set up.
2. Go into the TouchChat app; generate the text you wish to post to the social network.
3. Press and hold on the speech display bar (SDB) until the Share and Copy options appear.
4. Tap Share and tap the social network you wish to send the text to.
Copying Photos into the Device
1. Connect your iOS device to the computer and launch iTunes.
2. Once iTunes is up, go to the Photo tab.
3. Put a check mark before Sync Photos from and choose where you want to import the pictures from.

4. Select the Sync button in the bottom right.
5. Once Sync is complete, disconnect the device from the PC and you are ready to add the photos to
the buttons.
Creating a Visual Scene
To create a visual scene, select a background image, set up the page, and add buttons.
Select a Background Image
Start by having the picture you want to use for the background image on the device. You can take a picture
using your device if it has a built-in camera. Otherwise, transfer the picture to the device from a computer.
2. Tap the location to add a linking button (the button you wish to link to your visual scene) and tap
Edit This Button.
3. Add a label (and optional symbol), scroll down to the Button Actions section, and replace the
existing action with Navigate.
4. Tap the + in the upper right corner to create your new visual scene page.
5. Name the page.
6. Adjust the rows and columns on the page. Choosing as many rows and columns as possible will
make it easier to create buttons that fit with the images on the page.
7. Scroll down to Import Image.
8. Tap Import Image and take a picture or find the image you want. A thumbnail view of the image will
appear above Import Image.
9. Tap Save.
Set up the Page
1. Choose the new page from the listing and select if you want animation.
2. Tap Save to create the page.
3. Tap Done.
4. Tap the button to navigate to the new page.

Add Buttons
Now with the background picture in place, using the blank buttons, buttons can be created that speak or
move to other pages. In our example, let’s create a button that speaks “Horse” whenever tapping on the
horse in the picture (assuming we used a picture with a horse in it).
1. Tap the upper most left corner location that covers the ear.
2. Tap Create New Button.
3. Type Horse into the button message box.
4. Set the Transparent option to the On position. That way the
scene behind it comes through.
5. Tap Save.
6. Tap the newly created button and choose Change Button Size.
From here, you can adjust the button height and width so that
it fits the entire image.
7. Tap Save.
8. Create the remaining buttons and re-size them to go along with
the scene. All the buttons can have their own size and shape.
9. When you finish, tap Done.
Locking Screen Orientation
Some people prefer the screen to be consistent regardless of the orientation. The screen orientation can
be locked by choosing a TouchChat setting.
1. Tap Menu and tap Settings.
2. Scroll to the Tilt section and tap Tilt Action.
3. Tap No Action.
4. Tap Done.
Note: You can also change screen orientation by using an
iOS function. The procedure varies by software version.

Setting Up Restrictions
Use this feature to turn off access to Safari, YouTube, iTunes,
installing apps, deleting apps, Location, In-App Purchase, etc.
Also set restrictions on content (music, movies, and TV shows).
To turn off items you would like to restrict, from the device:
1. Tap Settings, then General, and then Restrictions.
2. Tap Enable Restrictions.
3. Create a 4-digit passcode.
4. Enter the passcode twice to set restrictions.
Changing Button Timing Settings
Tap Menu and tap Settings. Scroll down to the “Buttons” section.
Activate on Release
This option offers to have buttons activated when released rather
than upon touch. This allows the device user to slide his or her
finger across the screen before finally releasing on the button that
he or she wants to select. Turn the toggle switch to the On position.
Dwell Time
The dwell time setting controls the delay before a button press is
recognized. When the user touches a button, a slight dimming
and a white square box identifies the chosen button. As long as
the user continues to keep his or her finger inside the button area
the dwell timer counts down. Once the time is reached, the
button press is accepted. To set a dwell time, tap Dwell Time and
select a value from 0.1 Seconds to 5.0 Seconds.
Release Time
Release time is intended to help prevent accidental double button
activations. When the time is set, all buttons are disabled for the
specified period of time after each button press event. To set a
release time, tap Release Time and select a value from 0.1
Seconds to 5.0 Seconds.

Using an External Keyboard with TouchChat
If you need to use an external keyboard with TouchChat, TouchChat needs to give a command to replace
the TouchChat keyboard with a system keyboard. If an external keyboard is not attached, the iOS
keyboard will appear on the screen. The command to use the system keyboard needs to be stored to a
TouchChat button for turning on and off.
1. Go to the page where the button will be created.
3. Tap the button where the system keyboard button will be located.
4. Select Edit This Button.
5. Add a button label and, if needed, an image.
6. Modify the button style, if necessary.
7. In the Button Actions section, tap Add.
8. Tap System Keyboard.
9. Tap Save.
Changing Word Prediction Dictionaries
TouchChat provides American English, British English, and Spanish word prediction dictionaries. The device’s
Language settings determine which dictionary is used. Set up your device for the language you currently use.
To select your language:

Enlarging Text in the Speech Display Bar
There are a number of ways to enlarge text in the Speech Display Bar (SDB).

Audio files such as music contained in the device user’s iPod media library can be played.
1. Edit a button and tap the action Play Library Audio.

3. Give your button a label and add a picture.
Note: You will also want to include a Stop button on your
page in case you need to stop the song before it is finished
playing. To create a Stop button:

5. If Speech Message remains in the Button Actions section, tap
Edit and click the delete icon in front of Speech Message.

Transferring a Vocabulary File Using AirDrop
To transfer vocabulary files, both devices need one of the following devices with iOS 7 or later: iPhone 5
or later; iPad 4th generation; iPad Mini; iPod Touch 5th Generation; iPad Air.
Also, WiFi and Bluetooth will need to be turned on, and both devices need to remain awake. The
distance that the file will transfer using Airdrop depends on the environment.
Turning on AirDrop
1. Swipe the bottom of the screen to bring up the Control Center.
2. Tap AirDrop.
3. Choose one of the options:

Makes the device visible only to your contacts (see “Using Airdrop

Sending the File in TouchChat using AirDrop

Receiving the File using AirDrop
1. After the file has been transferred, tap Yes to import the vocabulary file.
2. Name the file accordingly, and then tap Save.
3. Once the file has been imported, tap Vocab and tap Choose New Vocab.
4. Find the file you just transferred and open it.

Using Airdrop with Contacts Only
The users must have each other's Apple ID email address (the email that you use for your Apple ID) in
their contacts. Important! The IDs must be under the category "iCloud". For example, you might have
the other user’s email under "home" or "work". You must edit your contacts and change the category to
"iCloud". If both users do this, they will be able to see each other when sharing with Airdrop.
Turning Editing Menus On and Off
There may be times when you need to hide the Editing menus. The Allow Editing setting can be turned
on or off. When turned off, the Vocab and Menu items are removed from the TouchChat screens.
To turn Allow Editing on:

Turning on Data Logging from Your Device
When data logging is turned on, your device collects language usage data which you can upload to the
Realize Language website for web-based analysis or save to a file to analyze manually.
1. In TouchChat tap Menu and tap Settings. The
TouchChat Settings screen will be displayed.
2. Under Data Logging, turn on Enable Logging.
When data logging is turned on, the data logging icon appears in the Speech Display Bar.
Important! If you plan to use the Realize Language website to analyze data, set up a person before you
start collecting data.
Creating a Privacy Password
Data logging provides the option to create a privacy password to protect the data you collect against
unauthorized access.
1. Under Data Logging, tap the password box
located to the right of Privacy Password. A
cursor will appear in the password box and
keyboard will be displayed.
2. Type the privacy password you want to use
and tap Done. The Confirm New Privacy
Password prompt will be displayed.
3. Type your password again and tap Enter.
“New Password Set” will be displayed.
4. Tap OK to close the message.

Uploading Data for Analysis
Upload data collected for a person to the Realize Language website for analysis.
1. Tap Realize Language™ Setup to open the Realize Language
Setup window.
2. Note: The first time you upload data, enter your privacy
password.
3. Enter your Realize Language account email address and
Realize Language account password.
4. Tap the Current Person field and select the person for whom
you want to upload data.
5. Tap Upload Now. “File successfully updated” will appear.
6. Tap Save. By tapping Save, your Realize Language account
email address and Realize Language account password will be
retained in the Realize Language Setup window. For future
uploads, all you need to do is select the person from the
Current Person list.
7. When the data has uploaded successfully, return to the
Settings menu and use Clear Log to clear the person’s data.
Then you can start collecting new data for that person.
Clearing Usage Data
To clear usage data for the current person:
1. Under Data Logging, tap the Clear button.
2. The Privacy Password prompt and keyboard will be
displayed. Type your privacy password and tap Enter.
3. “Do you really want to Clear Log?” will be displayed. Choose
Yes to clear the data log.
4. “Clear Log Completed” will be displayed. Tap Okay to close
the message.
Changing or Removing Your Privacy Password
By default, each time you save data to a file, you enter a password. Entering a password helps ensure
privacy—only you will be able to view the data. You can change this privacy password as often as you
want, or you can eliminate the need for a privacy password.

To change your privacy password:
1. Under Data Logging, tap the password box located to the right of Privacy Password. A Privacy
Password prompt and keyboard will be displayed.
2. Type your old privacy password and tap Enter. A cursor will appear in the password box.
3. Use the backspace key
to clear the Privacy Password field.
4. Type your new password and tap Done.
5. The Confirm New Privacy Password prompt will be displayed. Type your new password again and
tap Enter.
6. “New Password Set” will be displayed. Tap OK to close the message.
To remove your privacy password:
If you prefer not to enter a password each time you save data to a file, use this procedure. Keep in mind,
however, that you will also lose the privacy protection a password provides.
1. Under Data Logging, tap the password box located to the right of Privacy Password. A Privacy
Password prompt and keyboard will be displayed.
2. Type your old privacy password and tap Enter. A cursor will appear in the password box.
3. Use the backspace key
to clear the Privacy Password field and tap Done.
4. “Privacy Password Cleared” will be displayed. Tap OK to close the message.

TouchChat settings are located by going—within the TouchChat app—to Menu > Settings. From the
TouchChat Settings screen, scroll to see all available settings.

When turned on, this setting allows you to navigate a page by scrolling up, down,
right, or left.
Allow Gestures
When turned on, this setting allows you to add a gesture to a page such as swiping
left or right to engage an action.
Gesture Pop Sound
When turned on, this setting provides audible feedback when a gesture is
performed.
Button Click Sound
When turned on, this setting provides audible feedback when a button is selected.

Keyguard Inset
When turned on, this setting adjusts the display for a keyguard.
Editing
Allow Editing
When turned on, this setting allows you to edit and customize. When editing is
turned off, you must re-enable it in the TouchChat section of the device settings.
Speech
Voice
Since there are many voice options, voices downloadable. This will save a lot of
space on the app by only downloading the voices needed.
To download a voice, tap the green down arrow and select Yes.
Note: Some voices are only available at a cost. These voices must be purchased
from the Upgrade Store before they are available in the Voice listing.
Rate
Use the slide bar to modify the rate of speech.
Voice Pitch
You can make a voice sound different by modifying the pitch.
Pause Between Words
You can add a speech delay between individual words.

When turned on, this setting hides the entire SDB.
Allow Copy/Paste
When turned on, this setting gives the user the option to copy/paste from the
SDB.
Auto Capitalization
When turned on, this setting capitalizes the first word of a sentence

Show Icons
Choose this setting if you want to display icons with text in the SDB.
Hide Delete Button
When turned on, this setting hides the SDB’s Delete button.
Font
Select one of the 7 available fonts for use for text in the SDB.
Font Size
Determines the size of the font that appears in the SDB.
Font Color
Choose one of the 12 available font colors to apply to text in the SDB.
Background Color
Choose one of the 12 available background colors to apply to the SDB.
Number of Lines
Choose how many lines of text you want to appear in the SDB.
Single Line Cursor
Choose this setting if you want a cursor to appear in the SDB.
Tap Action
Choose Speak, Speak and Enlarge Text, or No Action when the SDB is tapped.
Expanded Speech Area
Font
Select one of the 7 available fonts for use for text in the expanded speech area.
Font Size
Determines the size of the font that appears in the expanded speech area.

Choose one of the 12 available font colors to apply to text in the expanded

the button turns red for a moment when activated.
Hide All Icons
When turned on, this setting will hide all of the icons from the buttons and only
the text will appear. Note that hiding the button icons will also force the SDB
setting “Show Icons” off.
Show Hidden Buttons
When turned on, buttons that have been hidden will be displayed.
Social Networking

When turned on, this setting allows you to share text from the SDB to social
networks.
Making an In-App Purchase
1. Make a wireless connection if you haven’t already and be sure that Allow Editing is turned on.
2. Tap Vocab and tap New Vocab.
3. Tap Menu and tap Upgrade Store.
4. Tap Enter Upgrade Store.
5. Make a selection and enter the purchase information.

Backing up the iOS Device
Important! This function does not back up TouchChat vocabulary files.
1. Open the iTunes application on the computer.
2. Connect the iOS device to the computer using a USB cable.
3. In iTunes, the device will appear on the left side.
4. Right-click on the device and choose Back Up.
5. iTunes will start to back up the device.
Restoring the iOS Device
1. Open the iTunes application on the computer.
2. Connect the iOS device to the computer using a USB cable.
3. In iTunes, the device will appear on the left side.
4. Right-click on the device and choose Restore from Backup.
5. iTunes will then prompt you to select the backup. Choose the one that is the most recent sync, to
ensure having the current versions.
6. iTunes will start restoring the device from the backup.
Copying Files to/from iShare
Note: You must have a wireless connection to use this feature.
1. In TouchChat, tap Vocab and tap Choose New Vocab.
2. Tap Menu and tap iShare Service.
3. Create a log-in.
4. To download: Tap the appropriate file and download it.
5. To upload: tap + and then the appropriate file to upload.

Special Note on Transferring Files
Once you have loaded software version 2.0 on your device, you can only transfer files from your device
to another device running version 2.0 or higher. For example, you cannot transfer files from software
version 2.0 to a device running version 1.14. However, you can transfer files from a device running a
software version lower than 2.0 to a device running version 2.0. For example, you can transfer files from
a device running version 1.14 to a device running version 2.0.
Finding the TouchChat Version
Use this procedure to find the version of TouchChat you are using.
1. Tap Vocab.
2. Tap Choose New Vocab.
3. While in portrait mode, the version will show at the bottom of the screen.
Transfer Vocabulary Files from Chat Editor to the TouchChat Device
using iShare
1. Open Chat Editor on your computer.
2. Choose Library > Transfer > Vocabs to File. The Transfer box will appear.
3. Highlight the file you want to transfer and click on Transfer in the top left. A Windows Save As
dialog box will appear.
4. Save your vocabulary file to your computer (remember where you save it).
Important! Make sure that “.ce” remains at the end of the file name.
5. After the file has been saved, open Internet Explorer on the computer and go to
www.ishareservices.com.
6. Log into your iShare account. If you do not have an account, go ahead and register for one.
7. From the iShare account screen, click Add File.
8. On the Add File screen, enter the information that is needed: name, revision, description, and
keywords.
9. Select which category you want your vocabulary file associated with.
10. Select which type of file your vocabulary will be. This will make your file private, public, or a group file.
11. Click the Browse button, find the vocabulary file you transferred from Chat Editor, click the file,
and then click Open.
12. Click Submit, just below the file area. This will bring you back to the browse file area, in which you
should see your file listed.
13. On your device, tap Vocab and tap Choose New Vocab.
14. Choose Menu.
15. Choose iShare Service.
16. Log in using the iShare account you set up earlier.
17. Choose the My Files folder.
18. Find the vocabulary file in the category where you placed it.
19. After choosing the file, in the file details screen, click the Download button on the bottom left.
20. The “Download complete OK” screen should appear when the download is finished.

11. On your computer, search the categories on the iShare site to find your uploaded file.
12. Click the green arrow that corresponds to your file to download it to your computer.
13. Click Save on the file Download box that appears. (Note where you place the file.)
14. Copy the file to the Chat Editor Import folder.
15. Open Chat Editor and a progress bar will monitor the download, followed by an Import File
progress box.
16. When the import is finished, you can open the downloaded vocabulary file from Library > My
Resources in Chat Editor.

Save your vocabulary file to your computer (remember where you save it).
Open iTunes on the computer.
Attach the device to the computer.
Tap on the device (left column) and go to the Apps section.
Scroll down until you see TouchChat in the File Sharing area.
Tap on TouchChat. “Add File” should appear in the lower right-hand section.
Tap Add File. A Windows Save screen will appear.
Locate the file you want to add to your device and tap Open.
The file should appear in the TouchChat Documents section.
Go to the device and go to the Vocab File section.
Tap Menu in the top right and tap Import File.

Connect the device to the computer.
Open iTunes on the computer.
On the device, go to the Vocab File section and tap on Menu in the top right portion of the screen.
Tap on Export a Vocab File.
Choose the vocabulary file you want to export.
Name the file that you are exporting and tap Save.
In iTunes on the computer, tap on the device and go to the Apps section.
Scroll down until you see TouchChat in the File Sharing area.
Highlight the vocabulary file that you are exporting.
Click Save To on the bottom right.
A Windows save box will appear. Select the folder in which you want the file saved.
To place the file into Chat Editor, use the Chat Editor Import folder located on your computer’s desktop.
The folder was placed there when Chat Editor was installed. If the folder is not there, you can locate the
import folder depending on the version of Windows you are using at:
Windows XP
My computer > C drive (local drive) > Documents and Settings > Users
(*log in ID*) > Application Data > Silver Kite > TouchChat > Import
Windows Vista or

C: Drive > Users > *User ID* > AppData > Roaming > Silver Kite >

Note: The Application Data folder (for Windows XP) or the App Data Folder (for Windows Vista/7) might
be hidden. To make these folders visible, go to Control Panel and choose Folder Options. Then choose
the View tab, and under Advanced Settings > Hidden Files and Folders, select Show Hidden Files and
Folders. Then click OK. The folders should now be visible.
The vocabulary file should start importing automatically after a few minutes.
Creating a Template Page
You can create a template page in Chat Editor. This feature is handy when building vocabulary files with
the same configurations of buttons to be displayed on each page. Create a page with the buttons that
will be consistent on each page. Set this page as a template to be used when creating new pages.

You can create a page from a template in Chat Editor.
1. Turn Edit Mode on.
2. Select Pages > Templates > New Page from Template.
3. Select a template category.
4. Select a specific template. When you select the template, a preview will be displayed.
5. Select Choose and type a descriptive name for the new page.
6. Select Save.

El TouchChat es una aplicación de comunicación completamente equipada para personas con
dificultad de habla. Está diseñado para individuos con autismo, síndrome de Down, ELA, apraxia,

Abriendo el TouchChat
Para abrir el TouchChat desde la pantalla principal, toque el botón de la aplicación del TouchChat.
Cerrando el TouchChat
Hay una diferencia entre minimizar la aplicación y cerrarla del todo. Si toca el botón de la página
principal, minimizará el programa pero continuará funcionando en el trasfondo. Para cerrar el
TouchChat o cualquier otro programa:
1. Toque el botón de la página principal en la sección inferior del equipo para salir de la
aplicación. Esto la minimizará pero no la cerrará.
2. Haga un doble toque en el botón de la página principal.
3. Aparecerá una barra que mostrará todas las aplicaciones que estén abiertas.
4. Toque y sostenga el símbolo de TouchChat, o cualquier otro símbolo, y aparecerá un signo de
resta.
5. Toque el símbolo de resta para cerrar la aplicación.
6. Una vez las aplicaciones estén cerradas, toque el botón de la página principal dos veces.
Trabajando con los menús del TouchChat
Para acceder a los menús del TouchChat, toque Menú. Las opciones de éste varían dependiendo de la
parte del programa que está usando y si el Modo de edición está activado. Por ejemplo:

Explorando los archivos de vocabulario provistos
El TouchChat incluye una variedad de páginas con diferentes diseños de botones. Cada grupo de
páginas se denomina archivo de vocabulario. Los archivos de vocabulario que tienen una cerradura al
frente no se pueden borrar.
Archivos de vocabulario disponibles en español
Los siguientes archivos de vocabulario están disponibles en español: MultiChat 15 Español bilingüe;
MultiChat 15 Español; Sin sintaxis 4 x 4 inglés & español; Sintaxis 4 x 5 inglés & español; Teclado;
VocabPC español paisaje & retrato; WordPower48 Español.
MultiChat 15 Español bilingüe
Este archivo de vocabulario es exactamente igual al archivo MultiChat 15 excepto que la etiqueta en los
botones tiene la palabra tanto en español como en inglés. Sin embargo, cuando el NOVA chat pronuncia
las palabras y frases, lo hace únicamente en español.
Este y el siguiente archivo consisten de páginas de cinco columnas y tres filas, diseñados para uso fácil e
intuitivo. Están hechos para que la progresión por las páginas se asemeje al flujo natural del habla.
Además, tienen un botón de “teclado” por si el usuario prefiere escribir las palabras por su cuenta.
MultiChat 15 Español
Esta versión en español es muy similar al archivo MultiChat 15 para estudiantes. Sin embargo, debido a
las diferencias entre los dos lenguajes, se realizaron algunos cambios para reflejar estos cambios
lingüísticos. Por ejemplo, los sustantivos en español tienen un género (masculino o femenino), mientras
aquellos en inglés no lo tienen. Además, el español tiene varias formas de usar artículos como “el” que
no son consistentes con su uso en inglés. El archivo MultiChat 15 en Español está diseñado para ser
universal con tal de ser apropiado para muchos hispanoparlantes. Por lo tanto, definitivamente debe
aprovecharse de la capacidad de hacer especificaciones regionales.
Sin sintaxis 4 x 4 inglés & español
Consiste de categorías de palabras con un símbolo en cada botón. Este archivo está diseñado para niños
que aún no poseen la capacidad de formular oraciones.
Este y el siguiente archivo consisten de páginas de cuatro columnas y cuatro filas. Las páginas principales
consisten de una serie de categorías diseñadas para que el usuario pueda formular oraciones comunes
fácilmente.
Sintaxis 4 x 5 inglés & español
Este archivo está diseñado para niños que comienzan a crear oraciones sencillas. Cada página contiene
20 botones de palabras con imágenes. Las palabras están organizadas en categorías con algunas
palabras esenciales que permiten crear oraciones básicas.
Teclado
Teclado es un teclado español. El diseño es similar a la de un teclado típico QWERTY.

VocabPC español paisaje & retrato
Una traducción directa de la versión en inglés, el VocabPC fue diseñado por Gail Van Tatenhove, PA, MS,
CCC-SLP, para adultos y adolescentes con discapacidades de desarrollo. El vocabulario en el VocabPC
está diseñado con frases de transición, oraciones interactivas, vocabulario de actividad y sustantivos. El
VocabPC utiliza un diseño de página de 12 “localizaciones”, organizados en una cuadrícula de cinco
columnas y tres filas. Las categorías son sencillas, e incluyen palabras para expresar comunicación
básica, como gusto, disgusto, necesidad y habla cotidiana.
WordPower48 Español
El WordPower48 Español es un vocabulario nuevo de comunicación aumentativa diseñado para el
equipo NOVA chat y la aplicación del TouchChat. Diseñado para ser intuitivo y fácil de usar,
WordPower48 Español se ajusta a las necesidades de comunicación de un grupo amplio de usuarios en
culturas hispanoparlantes. El vocabulario incluye comunicación básica de acceso sencillo para aquellos
que se están comenzando a comunicar, así como lenguaje y gramática sofisticada para individuos con
capacidades cognitivas y lingüísticas más avanzadas.

myQuickChat; Spelling (Ortografía); 4-Basic; Essence.
El WordPower es un diseño basado en Word que utiliza de 20, 24, 30, 42, 48, 60, 80 y 108 botones por
página.
WordPower20 Simply
El WordPower20 Simply incorpora frases portadoras con las palabras centrales de generación de
lenguaje rápida y fácil. Se puede utilizar como un sistema basado en una frase o como un sistema
basado en una palabra. Por ejemplo, se puede utilizar las frases portadoras "Quiero...", "Me gusta...", y
"Necesito..." para generar frases. O puede usar los pronombres individuales "yo", "ella", y "usted", o
frases iniciales con "puede" y "hacer". Cuando se seleccionan los pronombres individuales, una página
de verbos de uso frecuente y verbos de ayuda también se hace disponible. Puedes terminar
rápidamente una sentencia con una frase como "para comer...", "jugar...", "a ver...", etc o puede
seleccionar "a" y tener un conjunto más amplio de los verbos disponibles.
WordPower24 y WordPower42
El WordPower24 y WordPower42 usa palabras esenciales de alta frecuencia para facilitar la formulación
de oraciones. Además, incluye nombres y adjetivos que están organizados en categorías lógicas. Todos
los tipos de palabras gramáticas están incluidos. Según construye una oración, notará que muchas veces
podrá decir la próxima palabra que desea con uno o dos toques del botón.
Las palabras “gramáticas” se utilizan para proveer terminaciones morfológicas a los verbos, los nombres
y los adjetivos. Una página de predicción de palabras u ortografía se utiliza para deletrear palabras que
no se incluyen como botones en las páginas. Ya que este vocabulario se basa en palabras, este grupo de
páginas puede ser usado por un amplio grupo de edades. Los nombres, adjetivos y verbos pueden ser
añadidos y personalizados de acuerdo a las necesidades particulares del usuario.

WordPower24 with Phrases
El WordPower24 with Phrases está diseñado para individuos que no pueden usar un diseño de
vocabulario basado en palabras, pero que sí pueden formular conceptos usando frases transitivas y
categorías semánticas.
WordPower30 y WordPower48
El WordPower30 y WordPower48 fueran diseñados para usuarios que necesitan herramientas del
teclado como tal. Aquí se añade una fila de herramientas al teclado.
WordPower42 Basic
El WordPower42 Basic es una versión simplificada del WordPower42. Este sistema ofrece una variedad
de vocabulario esencial, y puede ser más apropiado para usuarios nuevos o para aquellos que necesitan
un diseño de vocabulario básico. Está diseñado para que la comunicación sea más eficiente y rápida.
WordPower60
WordPower60 – Este archivo de vocabulario consiste de una gran cantidad de palabras frecuentes
disponibles en la página principal, de tal manera que el usuario pueda comunicarse rápidamente con
menos pulsaciones del teclado. Utiliza funciones como terminación y predicción de palabras, y la función
de “gramática” provee terminaciones morfológicas a verbos, nombres y adjetivos. La función de
deletreo con predicción de palabras también está disponible, así como las páginas basadas en categorías
contenidas en todas las demás versiones del vocabulario.
WordPower80
El WordPower80 es una buena opción para aquellos usuarios que pueden accesar objetos más
pequeños. Este diseño requiere muchos menos toques para accesar el vocabulario esencial.
WordPower108
El WordPower108 es la opción de vocabulario WordPower más nueva. Consiste en una gran cantidad de
palabras comunes en la página principal, permitiendo comunicación y acceso rápido a palabras básicas.
Utiliza un sistema para completar y predecir palabras, y la función de "gramática" ofrece terminaciones
morfológicas para verbos, sustantivos y adjetivos.
MultiChat 15
MultiChat 15 – Se crearon dos versiones de este diseño de 15 botones: una para individuos de edad
escolar con capacidades lingüísticas en continuo desarrollo; y otra para adolescentes y adultos. Hay
muchas formas de comunicación disponibles en este programa: oraciones, frases, palabras individuales,
grabaciones para cuentos y escenas visuales. Además, se incluyen páginas interactivas de lectura,
páginas sociales y una página News-2-You que incluye el vocabulario del periódico semanal. Verá
símbolos en todos los botones, excepto en varias palabras esenciales.
VocabPC
El VocabPC fue diseñado por Gail Van Tatenhove, PA, MS, CCC-SLP para adultos y adolescentes con
discapacidades de desarrollo. El vocabulario en el VocabPC consiste de frases transitivas, oraciones
interactivas, vocabularios de actividad y palabras nominales esenciales. El VocabPC utiliza un diseño de

myQuickChat
myQuickChat es un sistema de comunicación introductorio dirigido a niños y adultos del AAC con
necesidades complejas de comunicación. Está disponible tanto para niños como para adultos en 4, 8 y
12 localizaciones, cada uno con una página principal de apoyo que consiste de 16 localizaciones. Se creó
para ofrecer un sistema de alta frecuencia basado en frases, que es fácil de usar y que tiene un formato
muy atractivo. El sistema progresivo ofrece una variedad de temas para necesidades y conversaciones
cotidianas, y le provee a los usuarios del AAC intercambios más inmediatos y efectivos usando una
variedad de configuraciones.
myCore
myCore es una combinación de palabras claves y vocabulario basado en frases diseñado para individuos
que pueden leer y escribir.
Spelling (Ortografía)
Spelling (Ortografía) es un grupo de páginas de teclado con cuatro botones de predicción y algunas
frases almacenadas.
4-Basic
4-Basic es una opción de vocabulario básico con 4 botones por página.
Essence
Essence está específicamente diseñado para adultos con desórdenes adquiridos del habla. La página
principal tiene un teclado de ortografía y de enlaces rápidos a páginas con frases comúnmente usadas
para que el usuario se pueda comunicar eficazmente con las personas que interactúa regularmente.
Otras páginas tienen vocabulario común que puede ser necesario al momento de visitar un doctor, usar
transportación pública, salir a comer, etcétera. Cada página se puede personalizar de acuerdo a las
necesidades específicas de vocabulario de cada individuo.
Cargando un archivo de vocabulario
1. Toque Vocabulario.
2. Toque Escoger un vocabulario nuevo.
Aparecerá una lista con los archivos de vocabulario disponibles; deslícese hacia abajo para verlos
todos.
3. Seleccione el archivo que desea cargar.
4. Una vez el archivo haya abierto puede explorar las páginas y la organización de los botones.
Los botones que tienen flechas redirigen a otras páginas.
Nota: Si desea personalizar un archivo de vocabulario tendrá que hacer una copia.

Personalizando un archivo de vocabulario
Antes de hacer cualquier personalización, sugerimos que cambie el idioma del sistema a su idioma. Para
hacer esto, vea “Cambiando los diccionarios de predicción de palabra”.
Copiando un archivo de vocabulario provisto
Si desea editar un archivo de vocabulario de Saltillo, primero tendrá que hacer una copia. Así
puede retener los archivos de vocabulario originales por si los necesita posteriormente.
1. Vaya a la lista de archivos de vocabulario mediante Vocabulario > Escoger un vocabulario nuevo.
2. Escoja Menú.
3. Seleccione Copiar un archivo de vocabulario.
4. Escoja el archivo que desea copiar.
5. Ingrese un nombre y un título.
6. Seleccione Guardar.
Creando un archivo de vocabulario nuevo
Nota: Antes de hacer cualquier modificación, sugerimos que cambie el idioma del sistema a su idioma.
2. Seleccione Escoger un vocabulario nuevo.
3. Toque Menú.
4. Escoja Crear archivo de vocabulario nuevo.
5. Ingrese un título y una descripción para el archivo.
6. Toque Guardar.
7. Deslícese por la lista para encontrar el archivo nuevo y selecciónelo
para abrirlo.
8. Toque Menú.
9. Seleccione Editar página.
Ahora puede comenzar a crear la primera página de su archivo nuevo.

Borrando un archivo de vocabulario
1. Desde la página principal del archivo de vocabulario, seleccione el
botón de Vocabulario en la sección superior izquierda.
3. Toque el botón de Editar en la esquina superior izquierda.
4. Verá un símbolo de resta a la izquierda de las imágenes de
candados. Únicamente podrá borrar los archivos personalizados.
Los archivos originales de Saltillo tendrán una imagen de un
candado cerrado, lo cual indica que no los podrá borrar.
5. Cuando toque el símbolo blanco de resta, aparecerá el
comando de “ Eliminar” en la extrema derecha.

Chat Editor
Este software funciona en una computadora de escritorio o en una portátil. La edición se puede llevar a
cabo en el equipo, pero este programa les ofrece a la familia y a los profesionales una manera de
personalizar el vocabulario para el usuario según les sea conveniente.
Descargando e instalando el Chat Editor
¡Importante! Con la actualización de software 2.0, sustituimos el TouchChat Windows Editor con el
ChatEditor. Si ha utilizado el TouchChat Windows Editor previamente, no funcionará con archivos 2.0 o
posteriores.
El proceso de instalación instalará el Chat Editor en su computadora y creará atajos en la página
principal para el programa y su carpeta de importación.

Vaya a http://touchchatapp.com/support/software-updates.
Bajo “Chat Editor for Windows”, seleccione el enlace de Download version.
Grabe el archivo Chat Editor_x.x.x_Setup.exe a su página principal.
Toque el archivo Chat Editor_x.x.x_Setup.exe dos veces para comenzar el proceso de instalación.
Seleccione el idioma a utilizar para la instalación y toque OK.
Toque Próximo, acepte el acuerdo de licencia, y toque Próximo.
Escoja Instalar. Una vez finalice la instalación, toque Terminar. Debe ver atajos en la página principal para la
aplicación “Chat Editor” y la carpeta de importación correspondiente.
Configurando el Chat Editor
La primera vez que abra el Chat Editor luego de instalarlo, aparecerán instrucciones para configurarlo.
1. Seleccione TouchChat en la ventana para escoger el producto y seleccione OK.
2. Seleccione el idioma en la ventana para escoger el idioma y seleccione OK.
3. Seleccione uno o más grupos de símbolos en la ventana para escoger grupos de símbolos.
¡Importante! Este grupo de símbolos debe corresponder con aquello que está en el equipo utilizado.
4. Toque OK.
5. Escriba un nombre para la configuración en la ventana para ingresar el nombre y escoja OK.
6. El Chat Editor abrirá.
Activando la función de habla en el Chat Editor
Nota: Cuando instale el Chat Editor en una computadora que tenía el programa instalado previamente,
la función de habla estará activada.
Cuando instale el Chat Editor en una computadora que no tenía el Chat Editor instalado previamente,
verá el siguiente mensaje:
La función de habla está desactivada en estos momentos.
Favor conectar un equipo Nova Chat a esta computadora para activar el habla.
Toque OK para cerrar el mensaje.

Para activar el habla en el Chat Editor, sencillamente conecte un cable USB entre su computadora y su
equipo. Pruebe el Editor para verificar que el habla esté funcionando, y luego desconecte el cable. La
función de habla estará activada siempre que use el Editor, y no necesitará conectar el cable
nuevamente.
Abriendo el Chat Editor
Para abrir el Chat Editor para uso regular luego de configurarlo, escoja el atajo correspondiente en la
página principal de su computadora.
Usando el software del Chat Editor
Toque el atajo de “Chat Editor” en su página principal para abrir el programa.
La mayoría de las siguientes instrucciones funcionan tanto para el software del chat en su equipo como
para el software del Editor en su computadora.
La biblioteca del Chat Editor consiste de los mismos archivos que están en el equipo.
Puede escoger cualquiera de estos. Además, puede explorar la organización de la página y los botones.
Los botones que tienen una flecha en la esquina redirigirán a otras páginas. Según explora el diseño de
las páginas, considere si una de éstas puede funcionar como punto de partida para el usuario del
equipo.
Los archivos de vocabulario “Originales” no se pueden editar. Si uno de los archivos sería apropiado para
el usuario, necesitará hacer una copia seleccionando Modo de edición.
Para explorar archivos usando el Chat Editor, escoja Biblioteca. Podrá ver todos los archivos
personalizados en Mis Recursos.

Usando el Chat Editor para crear material educativo
Puede capturar secuencias de botones en el Chat Editor para pegarlas a material educativo que cree en
programas como Word, Power Point, etcétera.
1. En el Chat Editor, escoja Capturar en la sección superior de la ventana del Editor. Abrirá la venta de
captura del botón.
2. Con la opción de Capturar selecciones activada, comience a seleccionar los botones que desee
aparezcan en su documento. Cada botón seleccionado aparecerá en la ventana de Captura de
botón.
3. Cuando termine de capturar la secuencia de botones deseada, escoja Copiar a portapapeles. Se
despejará la selección de la ventana de Captura de botón.
4. En su documento, inserte el cursor y seleccione Paste. Se copiará la secuencia a su documento.
5. Capture la próxima secuencia.
6. Cuando termine de capturar secuencias, seleccione Salir para cerrar la ventana.
Notas sobre capturar secuencias de botones
Si necesita intentar varias secuencias para encontrar la que busca, desmarque la opción de Capturar
selecciones. Una vez decida lo que quiere capturar, vuelva a marcar esta opción.
Si comete un error, seleccione Despejar y vuelva a capturar la secuencia. No olvide que esta opción
quita todo el contenido capturado de la ventana de Captura de botón.

Modificando un botón
Usted puede editar el mensaje de cualquier botón, así como su apariencia, imagen y función. Estas
modificaciones se en Modo de Edición.
1. Seleccione el botón que desea modificar.
2. Escoja Editar este botón.
Aparecerá una ventana que le permitirá editar el botón.
Modificando texto
En la ventana de edición:
1. Toque el área de Etiqueta de los botones para cambiar la etiqueta que aparecerá en el botón.
2. Toque el área de Mensaje del botón para cambiar el mensaje hablado.
Añadiendo un símbolo de la biblioteca
1. Toque Seleccionar imagen.
2. Toque a lupa en la parte superior derecha y escriba el nombre
de la imagen que busca.
3. Seleccione Buscar.
4. Escoja la imagen deseada.
Alternativamente, puede escoger la opción de Navegar, escoger una
categoría, y luego escoja la opción Seleccionar imagen.
Añadiendo una foto de su biblioteca
1. En la ventana para editar el botón, toque Importar imagen.

Cambiando el estilo de un botón

Cambiando la función de un botón
1. En la ventana de edición, deslícese hacia abajo hasta que vea la sección titulada Funciones
del botón.
2. Escoja Añadir.
3. Escoja la función deseada de la lista. Puede tocar una función activa y cambiarla por otra.
Quitando una función o cambiando su posición
1. En la misma área de Funciones del botón, busque el botón de Editar.
2. Para quitar una función, toque el círculo rojo con el símbolo de resta blanco; luego, toque Eliminar
y Guardar.
3. Para cambiar el orden de las funciones activas, toque y sostenga las barras grises en la derecha
y arrástrelas a la posición deseada.

Creando botones de enlace
Cuando un botón esté programado para Navegar o Visitar, el usuario debe programar a cuál página
redirigirá. Navegar lo llevará a una página nueva y lo dejará ahí, por lo cual necesitará darle a otro
botón para regresar a la página previa o a la principal. Visitar lo llevará a la otra página pero tan
pronto seleccione otro botón lo regresará a la página anterior.
Estos son las funciones de enlace disponibles para los botones.
Navegar
Lo redirigirá a otra página; el usuario necesitará tocar otro botón para salir de ella.
Visitar
Lo redirigirá a una página y tan pronto seleccione un botón lo regresará a la
previa.
Regresar
Lo llevará a la página anterior.
Navegar a página
principal
Lo redirigirá a la página principal del archivo de vocabulario.
1. Active el Modo de edición.
2. Toque el botón que redirigirá a otra página.
3. Escoja Editar este botón.
4. Puede ingresar una etiqueta, un mensaje y una imagen si así lo desea.
5. Debajo del área de Funciones del botón, toque Añadir.
6. Seleccione la función de navegación para el botón de la lista desplegable (entre Navegar, Visitar,
Regresar, Navegar a página principal). La opción de Navegar y Visitar le ofrecerá una lista de
páginas a la cual conectar el botón. Si escoge la opción de Regresar o Navegar a la página
principal, salte al paso #8.
7. Escoja la página a la cual el botón redirigirá de la lista que aparece; si la página aún no existe,
escoja Nueva y créela.
8. Escoja Animación de la página (esto determina la transición a la página nueva) o seleccione
Ninguna animación.
9. Escoja Guardar.
Nota: Si ya había una función en este botón, puede quitarla tocando Editar y el círculo rojo con el
signo de resta blanco; luego, toque Borrar y OK.

Almacenando texto en un botón
1. Toque Menú.
3. Escoja el botón que almacenará texto.
5. Le puede dar un nombre al botón, asignarle un mensaje o
alterar su estilo si desea.
6. Deslícese hacia arriba para encontrar las Funciones del botón.

lo toque, el sintetizador pronunciara el mensaje.
Creando un botón que muestre el estado de la batería
1. Asegúrese que la opción de Permitir edición esté activada.
2. Vaya a la página donde quiere crear el botón.
3. Vaya a Menú y seleccione Editar página.
4. Toque el área que mostrará el estado de la batería.
5. Seleccione Crear botón nuevo o Editar este botón.
6. Añádale una etiqueta y una imagen al botón si desea.

Copiando y pegando el estilo de un botón
El estilo de un botón se refiere al color de su trasfondo, el tamaño de la fuente y algunas otras
opciones de apariencia asociadas al mismo. A veces es más fácil copiar y pegar el estilo de un botón
partiendo de uno previo en lugar de editar cada opción de estilo individualmente.
1. Toque Menú y seleccione Editar página.
2. Escoja el botón que desea copiar.
3. Seleccione Copiar botón.
4. Seleccione OK.
5. Vaya a la página a la cual desea añadir el botón copiado.
7. Toque el botón al cual va a “pegar” el estilo.
8. Seleccione Pegar estilo solamente para cambiar únicamente el estilo de un botón.
9. Seleccione OK.
Copiando y pegando un botón completo
Toque el botón de Menú en la parte superior derecha de la pantalla.
2. Escoja el botón que desea copiar.
3. Seleccione Copiar botón.
4. Seleccione OK.
5. Vaya a la página a la cual desea añadir el botón copiado.
7. Seleccione el área a la cual desea copiar el botón.
8. Seleccione Pegar botón para pegar los contenidos del botón (etiqueta, imagen, etcétera) además
del estilo al lugar seleccionado.

Escondiendo un botón
Puede esconder cualquier botón si presentarlos todos a la vez resulta
abrumador o si necesita esconderlo para completar una tarea.
1. Vaya a Menú > Editar página.
2. Toque el botón que desea esconder y seleccione Editar este botón.
3. Mueva la opción de Visible para apagarlo.
4. Seleccione Guardar y OK.

Copiando una página de otro archivo de vocabulario
A veces podrá ahorrar tiempo si copia páginas creadas en lugar de empezar desde cero. Con el
TouchChat puede importar múltiples páginas a la vez.
1. Abra el archivo.
2. Escoja Menú > Editar página > Menú > Importar/Copiar páginas.
3. Escoja Importar otra página.
4. Busque el archivo de vocabulario que contiene la página deseada, y luego seleccione la que va a
importar. Aparecerá una marca después de cada página que usted seleccione.
5. Escoja Importar y OK.
6. Mientras sigue en Modo de Edición, toque el botón que redirigirá a la página importada.
8. Seleccione Funciones del botón > Añadir > Navegar.
9. Escoja la página importada.
10. Seleccione Animación si desea que haya una transición.
11. Finalmente, toque Guardar.

Editando una pronunciación
1. Toque Menú.
2. Toque Editar pronunciaciones.
4. En el cuadro debajo de Palabra, escriba la pronunciación
correcta de la palabra.
5. Debajo de Pronunciar como, escriba la palabra según su
pronunciación fonética. Toque el botón de Pronunciar palabra
para asegurarse que esté correcto. Si no lo está, cambie la
ortografía hasta que suene bien.
Nota: Si la palabra ya está entre la lista de pronunciaciones, deslícese hacia arriba para
encontrar la palabra y selecciónela para editar la pronunciación.
Utilizando SocialChat
Usted puede compartir el texto de las páginas del TouchChat mediante su cuenta de Facebook, Tumblr
o Twitter.
1. Asegúrese que el equipo esté conectado a la Internet y que se haya establecido la conexión con la
cuenta de la red social deseada.
2. Vaya a la aplicación del TouchChat; escriba el texto que desea compartir en la red social.
3. Toque y sostenga la Barra de visualización del habla hasta que vea la opción de Compartir o Copiar.
Seleccione Compartir, y luego la red social a la cual desea enviar el texto.
Copiando fotos al equipo
1. Conecte el equipo Apple a la computadora y abra iTunes.
2. Una vez iTunes haya abierto, vaya a la etiqueta de Fotos.
3. Marque con un “checkmark” la opción de Sincronizar fotos de, y luego seleccione el lugar del cual
importará las imágenes.

4. Seleccione Sincronizar, en la parte inferior derecha.
5. Una vez el proceso haya terminado puede desconectar el equipo de la computadora y comenzar a
añadir las fotos a los botones.
Creando una escena visual
Primero seleccione la foto que desea utilizar para el trasfondo de la página. Puede tomar una foto con
su equipo si éste tiene una cámara integrada. Sino, transfiera la foto a su equipo desde una
computadora.
Parte 1 de escenas visuales
2. Seleccione el lugar donde añadirá el botón de enlace (el que redirigirá a su escena visual) y escoja
Editar este botón o Crear botón nuevo.
3. Añada una etiqueta y un símbolo y sustituya la función activa con la de Navegar.
4. Toque el símbolo de suma (+) en la esquina superior derecha para crear su página nueva con la
escena visual.
6. Seleccione la cantidad de Filas y Columnas para la página (mientras más filas y columnas hayan, más
fácil será crear botones que se ajusten a la imagen de trasfondo).
7. Deslícese hacia abajo para importar una imagen de trasfondo.
8. Escoja Importar imagen para buscar la foto que desea; luego, seleccione Usar.
Parte 2 de escenas visuales
1. Seleccione la página nueva de la lista desplegable y escoja una animación, si desea.
2. Toque Guardar para crear la página.
3. Seleccione OK.
4. Escoja el botón que redirigirá a la página nueva.
Una vez tenga la imagen de trasfondo en su lugar, puede programar los botones para que contengan un
mensaje o redirijan a otra página. Veamos un ejemplo; podemos crear un botón que diga “caballo” cada vez
que uno toque al caballo de la foto (suponiendo, por supuesto, que utilizamos una foto con un caballo).

1. En este caso, toque la esquina superior izquierda, en el espacio donde está la oreja del caballo.
2. Escoja Crear botón nuevo.
3. Escriba “caballo” en el cuadro de mensaje.
4. Active la opción de Transparente para que la escena del trasfondo se vea a través del botón.
6. Toque el botón nuevo y seleccione Cambiar el tamaño. Altere el tamaño para que se ajuste a la
imagen.
Vaya creando los demás botones y cambiando sus tamaños para que se ajusten a la escena. Todos
los botones tienen su propio tamaño y forma.
Bloqueando el cambio de orientación
Algunos usuarios preferirán que la orientación de la pantalla permanezca igual sin importar la
inclinación del equipo. Podrá ajustar esta opción mediante una función de Apple o una del
TouchChat.
Para ajustar esta opción en la aplicación del TouchChat:
1. Seleccione Menú > Preferencias.
2. Busque la sección de Inclinación.
3. Seleccione Función.
4. Seleccione Ninguna función.
5. Seleccione OK.
Poniendo restricciones
Puede restringir el acceso a Safari, YouTube, iTunes, etcétera. También puede restringir el contenido
como tal (música, películas, televisión, etc.). Si desea restringir el acceso a alguna función:
1. Seleccione Ajustes > General > Restricciones.
2. Seleccione Activar restricciones.
3. Cree un código de cuatro dígitos.
4. Una vez haya ingresado el código dos veces, podrá poner restricciones.

Cambiando las configuraciones de tiempo del botón
Seleccione Menú > Preferencias. Deslícese a la sección de Botones para ver las siguientes opciones.
Activar al soltar
Esta opción hará que los botones se activen cuando el usuario los
suelte en lugar de tan pronto los toque. Es útil si el usuario tiene
que deslizarse por varios botones para llegar al que desea utilizar.
Tiempo de espera
Esta opción controla la demora para registrar un toque
nuevamente después de que el usuario selecciona un botón.
Cuando el usuario toque un botón, verá un leve brillo y un cuadro
blanco que identifica el botón escogido. Siempre y cuando el
usuario mantenga su dedo dentro del área del botón se contará
el tiempo de espera. Una vez haya mantenido el dedo en el
botón por suficiente tiempo, el equipo registrará el toque. El
tiempo de espera puede ser entre 0 y 5 segundos.
Tiempo de activación
El tiempo de activación ayuda a prevenir una doble activación de
un botón. Aquí puede ingresar la cantidad de tiempo que tiene que
pasar para que el usuario pueda volver a activar un botón luego
de tocar el anterior.
Usando un teclado externo con el TouchChat
Es posible que necesite o prefiera utilizar un teclado externo con su TouchChat. Para hacer esto,
tendrá que programar el TouchChat de tal manera que sustituya el teclado integrado con uno del
sistema. Si no tiene un teclado externo conectado al sistema, el teclado IOS aparecerá en la
pantalla. Para tener el comando de activar y desactivar el teclado de sistema disponible, tendrá que
programar un botón con esa función.
1. Asegúrese que la opción de Permitir edición esté activada.
2. Vaya a la página donde quiere crear el botón.
3. Vaya a Menú y seleccione Editar página.
4. Toque el área que activará y desactivará la función de utilizar un teclado externo.
5. Seleccione Crear botón nuevo.

Cambiando los diccionarios de predicción de palabra
El TouchChat provee un diccionario de predicción de palabras para inglés estadounidense y otro para
inglés británico. La opción de “Región” determinará cuál biblioteca se utilizará. Debe programar el
equipo para que ésta concuerde con su lugar de residencia.
1. Vaya a Preferencias.
2. Seleccione General > Internacional.
3. Cambie el idioma a inglés.
Para seleccionar el diccionario de predicción de palabra en español:
1. Vaya a Preferencias.
2. Seleccione General > Internacional.
3. Cambie el idioma a español.
Ampliando el texto en la ventana de visualización
Hay varias maneras de ampliar el texto en la barra de visualización del habla. Si cambia el tamaño del
texto o la cantidad de líneas mantendrá el texto de un tamaño consistente.
1. Vaya a Menú > Preferencias.
2. Vaya a la sección de Barra de visualización del habla.
3. En el área de Tamaño de la fuente aumente el tamaño. Alternativamente, bajo Cantidad de líneas,
puede ajustar cuántas líneas aparecerán en la barra de visualización.
Hay además varias maneras de ver el texto de la barra de visualización en una pantalla ampliada.
Ampliando la visualización con el cambio de orientación
1. Vaya al Menú.
2. Escoja Preferencias.
3. Deslícese hacia abajo para encontrar la sección de Inclinación.

Reproduciendo una canción del TouchChat
Los archivos de audio como música guardada en la biblioteca del iPod se pueden reproducir con su
TouchChat.
1. Edite un botón y prográmelo con la función de Reproducir
audio de la biblioteca.

Transfiriendo un archivo de vocabulario usando AirDrop
Para transferir archivos de vocabulario, ambos equipos necesitan uno de los siguientes equipos con iOS
7 o una versión más nueva: iPhone 5 o más nuevo; iPad, cuarta generación; iPad Mini; iPod Touch,
quinta generación; o iPad Air.
Además, necesita encender WiFi y Bluetooth, y ambos equipos deben permanecer activados. La
distancia mediante la cual el archivo puede transferirse usando AirDrop dependerá del ambiente.
Encendiendo AirDrop
1. Deslice la parte inferior de la pantalla para ver el centro de control.
2. Toque AirDrop.
3. Escoja una de las siguientes opciones:
Desactivado
Apaga el AirDrop.
Solo contactos
Sólo sus contactos pueden ver su equipo (vea “Usando Airdrop sólo con

Enviando el archivo en TouchChat usando AirDrop
1. Toque Vocabulario y luego Escoger un vocabulario nuevo.

4. Escoja el archivo de vocabulario que desea exportar.
5. Asegúrese que el nombre esté correcto y toque OK.

4. Encuentre y abra el archivo que acaba de transferir.
Usando Airdrop sólo con contactos
Cada usuario debe tener el correo electrónico de Apple ID del otro en sus contactos (el e-mail que usa
para su Apple ID). ¡Importante! Los ID tienen que estar bajo la categoría “iCloud”. Por ejemplo, puede
que tenga el correo electrónico bajo el campo de “casa” u “oficina”. Tendrá que editar sus contactos y
cambiar la categoría a “iCloud”. Si ambos usuarios hacen esto, podrán encontrarse uno al otro usando
AirDrop.
Prendiendo y apagando el menú de edición
Si necesita esconder los menús de edición, puede desactivar la función de Permitir edición. Con
esta opción apagada, los botones de Vocabulario y Menú se removerán de las pantallas del
TouchChat.

3. Busque la opción de Permitir edición y mueva el interruptor
para desactivarla.
4. Para reactivar esta función, tendrá que salir de la aplicación del

Activando registro de data desde su equipo
Cuando esta función esté activada, su equipo recolecta información del uso de lenguaje que puede subir

manualmente.
En el TouchChat, toque Menú y Preferencias. Verá la página de preferencias del TouchChat. Bajo
Monitor de actividad de idioma, encienda Activar registro.

¡Importante! Si va a utilizar la página de Realize Language para analizar data, debe registrar la persona
antes de comenzar a recolectar información.
Creando una contraseña de privacidad
La opción de registro de data le ofrece la opción de crear una contraseña de privacidad para proteger su
información contra acceso no autorizado.
1. Bajo Registro de data, toque el cuadro de contraseña que verá a la derecha de la Contraseña de
privacidad. Aparecerá un cursor en el cuadro de contraseña y un teclado.
2. Escriba la contraseña de privacidad que desea utilizar y OK. Confirme la nueva contraseña de
privacidad.
3. Ingrese la contraseña nuevamente y confirme; aparecerá un mensaje confirmando el cambio de
contraseña.
4. Toque OK para cerrar este mensaje.
5. Vaya a Menú  Preferencias  Registro de data. La primera vez que utiliza registro de data, verá el
siguiente mensaje:
Registro de data recolecta comunicaciones personales. Puede establecer una contraseña de privacidad ahora para prevenir el que sus
comunicaciones sean compartidas sin su permiso.
6. Toque Continuar para cerrar este mensaje y abra un teclado para crear una contraseña de
privacidad.
7. Ingrese una contraseña y escoja Próximo.
8. Ingrese la contraseña nuevamente para confirmarla y luego Grabar. Aparecerá el menú de registro
de data.

Subiendo data para análisis
Para cargar la información recolectada de una persona a la página de Realize Language para analizarla,
siga los siguientes pasos:
1. Toque Realize Language™ Setup para abrir la página de
programación de Realize Language.
Nota: La primera vez que suba información, ingrese su
contraseña de privacidad.
2. Ingrese su dirección de correo electrónico de Realize Language y
la contraseña correspondiente.
3. Toque el cuadro de Persona actual y seleccione el usuario cuya
información cargará.
4. Toque Actualizar ahora. Aparecerá un mensaje confirmando que
el archivo se cargó exitosamente.
5. Toque Grabar. Al hacer esto, Realize Language grabará su
dirección de e-mail y contraseña. Cuando desee subir
información de nuevo, solamente tendrá que escoger el usuario
entre la lista de “Persona actual”.
Una vez la data ha sido cargada exitosamente, vuelva al menú de Preferencias y utilice Despejar registro
para despejar la información del usuario. Luego, puede comenzar a recolectar data nueva para esa
persona.
Despejar data de uso
Para despejar la data de uso para el usuario actual:
1. Bajo Registro de data, toque el botón de Despejar.
2. Aparecerá un comando para ingresar la contraseña de
privacidad con un teclado. Ingrese su contraseña de privacidad
y confírmela.
3. Verá un mensaje preguntando si realmente desea borrar el
registro. Escoja Sí para despejar el registro de data.
4. Verá un mensaje confirmando que se despejó el registro..
Presione OK para cerrar el cuadro.

Cambiando o quitando su contraseña de privacidad
Automáticamente tendrá que ingresar una contraseña cada vez que graba información a un archivo.
Esto ayuda a proteger la privacidad – únicamente usted podrá ver la información. Puede cambiar esta
contraseña tantas veces como desee, o puede ajustar las preferencias para que no le pida la contraseña.
Para cambiar su contraseña de privacidad:
1. Bajo Registro de data, toque el cuadro de contraseñas a la derecha de Contraseña de privacidad.
Verá un comando para ingresar la contraseña y aparecerá un teclado.
2. Ingrese su contraseña de privacidad vieja y confirme. Aparecerá un cursor en el cuadro de
contraseña.
3. Utilice la tecla de borrar
para despejar el campo de contraseña de privacidad.
4. Ingrese su contraseña nueva y presione OK.
5. Aparecerá un cuadro para confirmar la contraseña. Ingrésela nuevamente y toque OK.

Para quitar su contraseña de privacidad:
Utilice este procedimiento si prefiere no tener que ingresar una contraseña cada vez que graba
información a un archivo. Sin embargo, recuerde que también perderá la protección de privacidad que
ofrece una contraseña.
1. Bajo Registro de data, toque el cuadro de contraseñas a la derecha de Contraseña de privacidad.
Verá un comando para ingresar la contraseña y aparecerá un teclado.
2. Ingrese su contraseña de privacidad vieja y confírmela. Aparecerá un cursor en el cuadro de
contraseña.

las páginas. Si esta función está desactivada, tendrá que ir a la sección
del TouchChat, en las preferencias del equipo, para activarla
nuevamente.
Habla
Voz
Ya que recientemente hemos añadido muchas opciones nuevas de
sintetizadores, ahora los podrá descargar de la Internet. De esta manera
se ahorra mucho espacio en la aplicación, ya que puede bajar sólo
aquellas voces que necesita. Para descargar una voz, toque la flecha
verde hacia abajo y seleccione Sí.
Nota: Algunas de las voces nuevas tienen un costo. Tendrá que
comprarlas por vía de la Tienda de actualizaciones para que aparezcan
entre las listas de voces.
Velocidad
Puede ajustar la velocidad del habla mediante una barra deslizable.
Tono de voz
Puede ajustar el tono del sintetizador para alterar su sonido.

Cuando incline el equipo, puede escoger expandir el texto de la barra
de visualización y pronunciarlo, solamente expandir el texto, reorientar
la pantalla o no llevar a cabo ninguna función.

Cuando esta opción esté activada, el botón se activará únicamente
cuando el usuario lo suelte en lugar de tan pronto lo toque.
Tiempo de espera
Controla la cantidad de tiempo que tiene que transcurrir antes de que
se registre el botón; esta función es útil si el usuario necesita deslizarse
entre múltiples botones para llegar al deseado.
Tiempo de activación
Impone un tiempo específico de espera luego de la activación de un
botón por si el usuario sin querer hace un doble toque.
Forzar tamaño de la fuente –
Activar/Desactivar
Cuando esta opción esté activada, el tamaño de las etiquetas de los
botones se ajustará automáticamente para que quepa en el botón.
Realzar toque –
Activar/Desactivar
Cuando esta opción esté activada, el botón al ser seleccionado se
pondrá rojo por un momento.
Esconder imágenes
Cuando esta opción esté activada, se esconderán las imágenes de los
botones y únicamente aparecerá el texto. Nótese que activar esta
opción desactivará la función que permite ver las imágenes con el texto
en la barra de visualización.
Mostrar botones escondidos
Mostrará todos los botones aunque su programación original los
esconda.

Haciendo una copia de seguridad de su equipo Apple
Nota: Esto no hará una copia de seguridad de sus archivos personalizados.
1. Abra la aplicación de iTunes en su computadora.
2. Conecte el equipo Apple a su computadora mediante un cable USB.
3. En iTunes debe aparecer el equipo.
4. Seleccione el equipo y busque la opción que le permite hacer una copia de seguridad (“Back Up”).
5. El equipo comenzará a hacer la copia de seguridad.
Restaurando el equipo Apple
Nota: Esto no recuperará sus archivos personalizados.

Copiando archivos de o al iShare
1. Asegúrese de contar con una conexión inalámbrica.
2. Vaya a la lista de archivos de vocabularios en el TouchChat.
3. Escoja Menú.
4. Seleccione Servicio de iShare.
5. Cree una cuenta.
6. Para descargar un archivo, seleccione el archivo deseado y luego la opción de descargar.
7. Para subir un archivo, seleccione + y el archivo que desea subir.
Nota importante sobre transferir archivos
Una vez haya actualizado el software de su equipo a la versión 2.0, únicamente podrá transferir archivos
con otro equipo que use la versión 2.0 o una más nueva. Por ejemplo, no podrá transferir archivos desde
un equipo con la versión 2.0 a uno con la versión 1.14. Sin embargo, sí podrá transferir archivos desde
un equipo que utilice una versión más vieja a otro que utilice la 2.0. Por ejemplo, puede transferir
archivos desde un equipo con la versión 1.14 a uno que tenga la 2.0.

Transfiriendo archivos de vocabulario desde el Chat Editor al
TouchChat usando iShare
1. Abra el Chat Editor en su computadora.
2. Escoja Biblioteca > Transferir > Vocabularios a archivo. Aparecerá el cuadro de transferencia.
3. Seleccione el archivo que desea transferir y escoja Transferir en la sección superior izquierda.
Aparecerá un cuadro de Windows de “Grabar como”.
4. Grabe el archivo de vocabulario a su computadora (recordando dónde lo graba).
¡Importante! Asegúrese de no borrar “.ce” al final del nombre del archivo.
5. Luego de grabar el archivo, abra Internet Explorer en la computadora y vaya a
www.ishareservices.com.
6. Ingrese a su cuenta iShare. Si aún no tiene una, puede crearla.
7. Desde la pantalla de iShare, escoja Añadir archivo.
8. En la pantalla para añadir el archivo, ingrese la información necesaria: nombre, revisión,
descripción y palabras clave.
9. Seleccione bajo qué categoría desea asociar su archivo de vocabulario.
10. Escoja qué tipo de archivo será su vocabulario. Es decir, puede escoger si éste va a ser privado,
público o grupal.
11. Toque el botón de Navegar, busque y escoja el archivo de vocabulario que transfirió desde el Chat
Editor y toque Abrir.
12. Escoja OK debajo del campo de archivos. Volverá al área de buscar archivos, donde deberá ver
aquél que necesita.
13. En su equipo, escoja Vocabulario y luego Escoger un vocabulario nuevo.
14. Escoja Menú.
15. Seleccione Servicio de iShare.
16. Ingrese usando la cuenta de iShare que registró anteriormente.
17. Escoja la carpeta de Mis archivos.
18. Busque el archivo de vocabulario en la categoría donde lo puso.
19. Luego de escoger el archivo, en la pantalla de detalles, escoja Descargar en la sección inferior
izquierda de la pantalla.
20. La pantalla de “descargado exitosamente” aparecerá una vez el archivo se haya descargado.

Nota: La carpeta de “Application Data” (para Windows XP) o “App Data” (para Windows Vista/7) puede
estar escondida. Para ver estas carpetas, vaya a Panel de control (Control Panel) y escoja Opciones de
carpeta (Folder Options). Luego vaya a la pestaña de Ver (View) y bajo Preferencias Avanzadas
(Advanced Settings) > Carpetas y archivos escondidos (Hidden files and folders), seleccione Mostrar
archivos y carpetas escondidas (Show Hidden Files and Folders). Luego, toque OK. Deberá poder ver las
carpetas ahora.
La importación del equipo debe comenzar automáticamente en unos cuantos minutos.
Creando una plantilla en el Chat Editor
1. En modo de edición, en el Chat Editor, haga un clic derecho con el ratón.
2. Deslícese hacia abajo hasta encontrar la opción de Página.
3. Escoja la opción de Crear página nueva.
5. Seleccione la cantidad de filas y columnas.
6. Escoja un Color de trasfondo.
7. Seleccione una imagen si desea.
8. Seleccione Grabar.
9. Haga un clic derecho con el ratón.
10. Deslícese hacia abajo hasta encontrar la opción de Página > Usar como plantilla.
11. Para seleccionar una plantilla, haga un clic derecho con el ratón y escoja Página > Crear página
partiendo de plantilla.
12. Escoja la página de la list.
