Questa citazione dimostra l’importanza del chiodo
nella ferratura, da quando i maestri forgiatori
Celti trovarono per primi il metodo di proteggere
gli zoccoli dei loro cavalli da guerra. Da allora
la ferratura del cavallo è rimasta immutata nei
suoi elementi essenziali: utilizzo di bande di ferro
modellate al contorno del piede e fissate alla
muraglia tramite chiodi.
Sembra che in origine il ferro avesse un profilo
ondulato con stampe ovali e i chiodi avessero
gambo rotondo e testa ovale nel senso
dell’altezza.

Solo più tardi i romani, occupando il territorio di
galli, celti e britannici, appresero la tecnica della ferratura e la migliorarono progettando un ferro piatto
con stampe idonee ad alloggiare chiodi con gambo
e testa quadrati che consentivano un’applicazione
più facile e di maggior durata, senza il rischio di
danneggiare l’unghia del cavallo.
Sebbene l’invenzione della ferratura sia da attribuire a tempi antichi, non ci sono dubbi che la sua
diffusione in tutto il continente europeo avvenne
durante il periodo delle Crociate, quando il ferro
veniva trattato e forgiato in abbondanza.

La Metallurgica Rusconi, oggi alla terza
generazione, inizia la produzione di chiodi per
ferrare cavalli nel 1923 in Italia, a Erba, 50 km a
nord di Milano, nella storica sede in centro alla città.
L’azienda oggi ha mantenuto la propria sede a Erba
in un nuovo stabilimento con moderni impianti
di produzione, capace di coniugare la tradizionale
cura della lavorazione artigianale con l’innovazione
tecnologica: una naturale evoluzione per restare
al passo con i tempi, sebbene non esista articolo
industriale tanto legato alla tradizione quanto
il chiodo per ferro di cavallo.

Metallurgica Rusconi began
the production of horse
nails in 1923 in the historical
quarter in the city of Erba,
50 km north of Milan, in
Italy. The company, now run
by the third generation of
the Rusconi family, still has
its headquarters in Erba, but
in a new plant with modern
production equipments
where the traditional skills
of the craftsman have been
enhanced by technological
innovation. Achieving state
of the art production of
such a highly traditional
item as the horse nail has
meant a continuous process
of development over the
years. Mondial nails are
used and recognised by
professional farriers all over
the world. Products are only
launched after in-depth
research, process controls
and technical tests. Working
with both farriers and
veterinarians, the company
ensures that both innovation
and quality targets are met.
Metallurgica Rusconi takes
part in the most important
trade fairs and farriers’
conventions around the
world. This way it receives

in den Händen der dritten Generation, startete ihre Produktion von Hufnägeln im Jahre
1923 in Erba, Italien. Ihr historischen Sitz befand sich 50km
nördlich von Mailand, inmitten
des Stadtzentrums. Auch heute
noch befindet sich der Hauptsitz in Erba, jedoch in einem
neuen Betrieb mit modernen
Produktionsanlagen, in welchem das traditionelle Handwerk erhalten bleibt, jedoch
mit gleichzeitiger Kombination
von höchstem technologischem
Fortschritt. Kein anderer industriell hergestellter Artikel, ist in
derart hohem Masse seinem
traditionellen Ursprung treu geblieben. Mondial Nägel werden von professionellen Hufschmieden aller Länder benutzt
