49 Jesus to St. Faustina “….My image already is in
your soul. I desire that there be a Feast of Mercy. I
want this image which you will paint with a brush, to
be solemnly blessed on the first Sunday after Easter;
that Sunday is to be the Feast of Mercy.”
50 + “I desire that priests proclaim this great mercy
of Mine towards souls of sinners. Let the sinner not
be afraid to approach Me. The flames of Mercy are
burning Me—clamoring to be spent; I want to pour
them out upon these souls.
Jesus complained to me in these words. “Distrust on
the part of souls is tearing at My insides. The distrust
of a chosen soul causes Me even greater pain;
despite My inexhaustible love for them they do not
trust me. Even my death is not enough for them.
Woe to the soul that abuses these (gifts)”

News From The Streets…
Forever Sowing Seeds of Love - Part I

There have been times when God has sent the Breaking
Bread Team into places where one would think that without
police protection, we would be in big trouble. This was the
case on one particular beautiful Saturday morning. Walt led
us to a neighborhood right outside of downtown
Houston. We had been there before so I did not think too
much about it. That’s until I saw several teens wearing what
seemed to be gang apparel. They, along with the small neighborhood crowd began to approach our vehicles. Here in this
small inner city neighborhood you will find disabled and elderly
grandmothers raising their grandchildren - doing their best to
keep their families together. Then of course you will see the
children - who can resist holding them? All this in the middle of
drug/alcohol addiction, and gang related crime. It’s God’s
love for the people that draw us out of our comfort zone to
come and reach out to His precious people. In Matthew
9: 37 He said to his disciples, "The harvest is great, but the
workers are few. 38So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the
harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields." The
items given out are usually donated by generous people who
care. On cold winter days, blankets are always a welcome
sight. In fact it was a donated blanket that helped show us favor in this neighborhood on this Saturday morning.

“DAD GRACIAS AL SEÑOR PORQUE ES BUENO, PORQUE ES ETERNA SU MISERICORDIA”
LA FE DE SANTO TOMÁS
Juan 20, 19-31.- A los ocho días, llegó Jesús Al atardecer de aquel
día, el primero de la semana, estando cerradas, por miedo a los
judíos, las puertas del lugar donde se encontraban los discípulos, se
presentó Jesús en medio de ellos y les dijo: «La paz con vosotros».
Dicho esto, les mostró las manos y el costado. Los discípulos se
alegraron de ver al Señor. Jesús les dijo otra vez: «La paz con vosotros. Como el Padre me envió, también yo os envío». Dicho esto,
sopló sobre ellos y les dijo: «Recibid el Espíritu Santo. A quienes
perdonéis los pecados, les quedan perdonados; a quienes se los
retengáis, les quedan retenidos». Tomás, uno de los Doce, llamado
el Mellizo, no estaba con ellos cuando vino Jesús. Los otros discípulos le decían: «Hemos visto al Señor». Pero él les contestó: «Si
no veo en sus manos la señal de los clavos y no meto mi dedo en el
agujero de los clavos y no meto mi mano en su costado, no creeré».
Ocho días después, estaban otra vez sus discípulos dentro y Tomás
con ellos. Se presentó Jesús en medio estando las puertas cerradas,
y dijo: «La paz con vosotros». Luego dice a Tomás: «Acerca aquí
tu dedo y mira mis manos; trae tu mano y métela en mi costado, y
no seas incrédulo sino creyente». Tomás le contestó: «Señor mío y
Dios mío». Dícele Jesús: «Porque me has visto has creído. Dichosos los que no han visto y han creído». Jesús realizó en presencia
de los discípulos otras muchas señales que no están escritas en este
libro. Estas han sido escritas para que creáis que Jesús es el Cristo,
el Hijo de Dios, y para que creyendo tengáis vida en su nombre.
Reflexión “Tomás, ¿porque me has visto has creído? Dichosos los
que crean sin haber visto”. Estas palabras del Señor resucitado
quieren insinuarnos a reflexionar, un poco, sobre nuestra fe cristiana. Además, el hombre pascual, el hombre nuevo que debe nacer
en nosotros es, particularmente, un hombre de fe. El tema de la fe
es muy actual, hoy en día, porque el mundo está pasando por una
evidente crisis de fe. Existe el proceso lento de la descristianización, de una paralización y aún de una extinción de la fe en el hombre moderno, y hasta en nuestras propias filas. El tiempo de hoy
huye de Dios, lo reconoce en el mejor de los casos, solamente como idea. No tiene ya un claro concepto de la persona de Dios ni de
su influencia personal frente al mundo y frente a los acontecimientos de nuestra época. Quizás también a nosotros nos pase un día,
que debamos constatar: En el fondo ya no creo más en lo que he
creído antes. Se perdió mi entusiasmo, mi fervor religioso. Y no
nos sentimos por eso demasiado tristes; lo constatamos simplemente.
Nuestra vida de fe, nuestra propia vida espiritual, tiene sus altos y
bajos. Tenemos épocas, en que todo nos anda mal, en que nos cuesta rezar, confesarnos, buscar a Dios. Pero, ¿qué pasará si estos estados se reiteran y llegan a ser duraderos? En todo caso no podemos
mantener viva nuestra fe en el ambiente frío del mundo moderno
sin llevar una vida auténticamente espiritual y sin tener orden en
esa vida espiritual, sin tener tiempo para meditar y rezar, sin tener
tiempo para los que piensan y luchan como nosotros. En esta situación la Iglesia nos muestra hoy la actitud de Santo Tomás. Tomás
es un verdadero hombre moderno, un realista y existencialista, que
no cree en más que en lo que toca, que no quiere vivir de ilusiones,
que tiene miedo que lo engañen: “Si no veo en sus manos la señal
de los clavos y si no meto el dedo en el agujero de los clavos y no
meto la mano en su costado, no lo creo”. Lo que nos impresiona en
el caso de Tomas, primero, que nos lo hace tan simpático y a la vez
contemporáneo, es la violencia de su resistencia. Son muy duras las
condiciones que pone para su rendición. Una dureza tan terrible no
puede provenir más que de un terrible sufrimiento. Él no quiere
arriesgarse de nuevo, porque ya ha sufrido demasiado, porque probablemente - ha sufrido más que los otros por la Pasión y Muerte de Jesús. La respuesta de Jesús a las exigencias de Tomás es
inaudita: Jesús las acepta y se somete a ellas: “Trae tu dedo, aquí
tienes mis manos; trae tu mano y métela en mi costado” y agrega
Jesús: “No seas incrédulo, sino creyente”. Y entonces. Santo Tomás, vencido por tanto amor y tanta indulgencia de Jesús. se siente
transportado a una altura, a la que nadie ha llegado y exclama:
“¡Señor mío y Dios mío!” Es el primero que llega con su fe hasta
este extremo. Hasta ahora, ningún apóstol ha dicho a Jesús: tú eres
mi Dios. De ese pobre Tomás, escéptico y exigente, obtiene Jesús
uno de los actos de fe más hermosos de todo el Evangelio. ¿Y nosotros? Nosotros no vemos ni tocamos al Señor como Tomás. Sin
embargo, nos pasa lo mismo que a él: Jesús está con nosotros, aún
y sobre todo en medio de nuestra duda e incredulidad. para apoyamos y fortalecemos. Nuestras crisis de fe son crisis de crecimiento
y nos sirven para ser más adultos en nuestra fe, para acercarnos
más y más a Dios. Los obstáculos son ocasiones de ascensión tal
como la presa que obliga al agua a elevarse para darle una potencia
nueva. Porque la fe es una aventura permanente, un desafío continuo, un largo camino que tenemos que andar. Y cuándo adelantamos en este camino, tanto más debemos hacer saltos de fe. Es lo
que dice San Pedro en una de sus cartas. “Tenemos que sufrir pruebas, para que sea purificada nuestra fe, como el oro por el fuego”.
Queridos hermanos, pidamos por eso en esta Eucaristía pascual,
que Dios nos haga madurar y crecer en nuestra fe. Y que nuestras
crisis de fe sean sólo crisis de crecimiento en nuestro caminar hacia
la Casa del Padre. Y pidámosle también a María, Madre de la fe,
que nos regale la gracia de una fe firme y profunda en su Hijo Jesús, el Señor resucitado.
¡Qué así sea! En el nombre del Padre, del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo.
