I want to thank everyone who made UnityFest 6 a great success. I heard
many positive comments about the festival. New this year was a hugely successful soccer tournament featuring teams not only from our own parish
but from neighboring parishes as well. I hope that this becomes an annual
tradition. Also new this year was a second entertainment stage downstairs
in the parish hall. It was a nice venue for the smaller acts. I, myself, very
much enjoyed playing and singing with my longtime friend, Mike Book. I
did, however, hear several people express disappointment that I was not on
the main stage this year, and so I will try to get a larger band together for
next year. Maybe I’ll perform on both stages. I didn’t hear any complaints
about me not being in the dunk tank, and that is certainly something that I
did not miss.
We will have our final meeting for Unity Fest 6 this Tuesday, September
20th, in the basement of St. John Church at 7pm. Your attendance and
feedback is very much appreciated. Please come if you can. UnityFest 7 will
be September 9th, 2017 (remember that it is always the Saturday after Labor Day).

Financial totals look very good. We brought in $20,186 just from tickets
and the silent auction which is extremely good. I hope to have final totals
(with expenses) in the next week or so. Unity Fest is a key piece to our financial plan for our parish, and I thank everyone who gave so much of
their time, talent, and treasure to our parish festival.

Quiero dar las gracias a todos los que hicieron Unity Fest 6 un gran éxito.
He escuchado muchos comentarios positivos sobre el festival. La novedad
de este año fue un exitoso torneo de fútbol con equipos no sólo de nuestra
propia parroquia sino de parroquias vecinas. Espero que esto se convierta
en una tradición anual. Otra de las novedades de este año fue un segundo
escenario de entretenimiento abajo en el salón parroquial. Fue un bonito
lugar para los pequeños actos. Yo mismo, disfruté mucho tocando y cantando con mi viejo amigo, Mike Book. Sin embargo, oí a varias personas
expresar su desilusión ante el hecho de que yo no estaba en el escenario
principal este año, y por lo tanto voy a intentar conseguir y unir una banda más grande para el próximo año. Tal vez me presentaré en los dos escenarios. No he oído ninguna queja acerca de que no estuve en el tanque
de agua, y eso es algo que ciertamente no extrañé.
Tendremos nuestra reunión final para Unity Fest 6 este Martes, 20 de
Septiembre, en el sótano de la Iglesia de San Juan a las 7:00 pm. Su asistencia y comentarios son muy apreciados. Por favor, venga si puede. Unity
Fest 7 será el 09 de septiembre de 2017 (recuerde que siempre es el sábado después del Día del Trabajo).
Totales financieras tienen muy bien. Recaudamos $20,186 en sólo boletos
y la subasta silenciosa que es extremadamente bueno. Espero tener con
los totales (incluyendo los gastos) la próxima semana. Unity Fest es una
pieza clave de nuestro plan financiero para nuestra parroquia, y doy las
gracias a todos los que dedicaron tanto tiempo, talento y tesoro al festival
de nuestra parroquia.

BISHOP WARD ANNUAL AUCTION
Bishop Ward High School invites you to celebrate
and support our students at the 38th Annual Auction, “Connecting the Dottes” on Saturday, September 24th, at Bishop Ward. Join us at 5:30pm for the
silent auction and a social reception featuring live
music, refreshments and delicious food from Garozzo’s! Our exciting main event, the Live Auction, will

UNITY FEST
The Unity Fest Committee would like to thank Fr.
Kent, Fr. Oscar, Deacon Keith, the office staff, all
our parish organizations, OLU School principal
Nancy Butters, OLU school teachers, staff, parents
and students, our friends, family and all the volunteers who helped make the 6th Unity Fest the best
ever. We would especially like to thank all the OLU
parishioners. Thank you for the donations of your
gifts, time and talents. Without them this event
would not be possible. A special thanks to Sherry
Johnson and the silent auction committee for all
their hard work in putting together a great auction.
To Pablo Gonzales and Oscar Solis for the 1st annual soccer tournament. It was a great success and
enjoyed by everyone. To all the performers who gave
their time and talents to put on a excellent program. To St. Michael the Archangel Parish, our
companions in faith, for the gift of the Kona Ice
Truck. What a wonderful treat. Above all we would
like to thank God and our savior Jesus Christ for a

20th at 7:00 PM in the St. John the Evangelist
Church Hall for the final meeting of Unity Fest

what we could do better and begin planning next

El Comité del Unity Fest quisiera agradecer al Padre
Kent, Padre Oscar, Deacon Keith, el personal de la

sobre todo, damos las gracias a Dios y Nuestro Salvador Jesucristo por habernos permitido vivir un día

SACRED HEART KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus will be meeting
Tuesday, September 20th at 7:00pm in Sacred
Heart church hall.
FR. KENT’S CONCERT
All are invited to a parish family
concert at Sacred Heart on Sunday, September 18th, at 6pm given
by Fr. Kent. There will be songs
sung in both English and Spanish
as well as the use of multi-media
through videos and images. This is a free event
sponsored by the OLU Spanish Prayer Group.
SPECIAL GUEST
Bishop Hector Cubillos Pena of the Diocese of Zipaquira will celebrate Mass on Monday, Sept. 19th.
All are invited to participate in the Holy Mass at
6:00pm in St. John the Evangelist. Mass will be in
Spanish.
RCIA IN ENGLISH
If you are interested in becoming a Catholic or are a
Catholic needing Confirmation and/or First Communion, then we have an excellent program to assist you in your journey. Classes began on Wednesday, September 14th. All are welcome. It would be
helpful if you would contact Fr. Kent or Paco Tarelo
before the classes, so that they will know that you
are coming.

The family of Pat Cornejo would like to thank every
one at OLU that helped with the luncheon after our
mother’s funeral. We so appreciate all that was
done. Keep Miss Pat in your prayers. May she rest
in peace.
ROYAL’S JERSEY RAFFLE
Don't miss the opportunity to purchase your raffle tickets for the

proceed to our parish. The winner will be drawn no

BIBLE STUDY
OLU will be starting another bible study on Tuesday, Oct 11th at 6:30 pm at Sacred Heart. The
study is called, “The Bible and the Virgin Mary”.
1st session will run 6 weeks and wrap up before
Thanksgiving. We will meet again after the New Year
to complete the last 6 weeks. Father Kent is going to
arrange child care by asking some of the 8th graders and their parents who need to get in their volunteer hours to help watch children when needed. If
you are interested please email Danielle at

her know you want to join. Or just show up that
night. We will collect money for the workbooks at
the first meeting.

CLASES BIBLICAS
OLU estará iniciando otro estudio bíblico el martes,
11 de octubre a las 6:30 pm en el Sagrado Corazón.
El estudio se llama "La Biblia y la Virgen María".
1ª sesión durará 6 semanas y concluir antes del Día
de Acción de Gracias. Nos reuniremos de nuevo después de que el nuevo año para completar las últimas
6 semanas. Padre Kent va a organizar el cuidado infantil preguntando a algunos de los estudiantes de 8°
grado y sus padres que necesitan conseguir en sus
horas de voluntariado para ayudar a ver a los niños
