When the Pilgrims came, the American continent was occupied by many different tribes made up of different cultures, gods, languages and styles of life. Then the Spanish, English and French came and wanted to make the natives into their own image. The Europeans were militarily more developed. These powers were very different from those of the pilgrims. They didn't respect the local cultures and felt they were more superior. The natives were a welcoming people and helped them to survive. Now, it is our time to help others and to be more welcoming and to help them to survive and prosper. We are all pilgrims or descendants of pilgrims/ immigrants. When we come to the Thanksgiving table, let us remember that we are all children of God and knowingly or unknowingly, Christ is our King. This Sunday we celebrate Christ the King. What kind of King is He for us? This is the last weekend that Pam Kollman will be working at St. Colette. The members of this Committee are the heads of the liturgical ministries: Marge Loesch, Gail McCusker, Donnie Shirmer, Julie Vinezeano, and Patty Sedano. Two decisions have been made by this committee: 1. Beginning with Christmas, we will switch to the precious metal communion cups. 2. Beginning in the First Sunday of Advent, we will kneel after the Lamb of God during the prayer: This is the Lamb of God.... Why are we going to do this? In 2010, the Vatican approved a new translation for the Mass. During this time, some changes were made. The late Cardinal Francis George, OMI asked all the parishes to accept these changes. Somehow, they were never implemented at St. Colette. After six years, the Liturgy Committee has decided to implement them. I hope all of us are going to be open to the change. Our liturgical celebrations will be more in union with the rest of the Archdiocese. 7 TO THE PARISHIONERS, SHARE FAITH FAMILIES, FOCUS, SCHOOL TEACHERS, CATECHISTS AND STAFF OF ST.
