WELCOME TO ST. BRUNO CHURCH/
BIENVENIDOS
At our Sunday Mass, we come together from all
our small communities and celebrate our
oneness in Christ. Take a little time to get to know the folks
you are celebrating Mass with.
Bulletin Deadline: Monday 4:00 p.m.
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Eucharistic Community II
Dear Parishioners,
Let us continue reflecting on the Eucharist. I grew up
in a place and time at which the Sunday Eucharist was the
main event of the week. Sunday morning consisted of waking up early, putting on the best attire, a.k.a. Sunday
clothes, and going to Mass with family. This was followed
by a sumptuous breakfast and a hearty table conversation.
That made my (Sun)day!
Many remember that and many still practice it. That’s
very good to see, indeed! For if the Eucharist is so important in our lives then it must be valued. It can’t be taken
for granted. We have to prepare for it.
Like when you go on a trip you have to pack up all the
things that you need or when you go to a concert you have
to dress up. The same holds true for Mass.
Everyone who takes part in the Mass needs preparation. The priest or deacon prepares a homily. Lectors take
time to go through the readings. Music directors select
hymns that connect with the readings. The choir practices.
The Mass coordinator sets up the hosts, wine and other
liturgical paraphernalia. The church decorators make sure
that the flowers are fresh and well-arranged. Staff members
make sure bulletins are ready for distribution.
Not only those who have specific functions at Mass
need to prepare but everyone else who sits in the pews.
Here are simple things, taken from Our Sunday Visitor brochure, that that we can do to prepare for Mass,
1. Know why you are here. The Mass is a liturgy, meaning a “work of the people”. You don’t go to Mass to watch
but to participate. You join in the prayers, singing, communion etc.
2. Reflect on the readings. Set aside some time to read
to go through the readings. Let the words penetrate your
mind and soul. How do the readings apply to your life?
3. Think about your offering. When you come to Mass,
you bring everything that you are to the altar as an offering
to the Lord; that also includes your offertory envelope.
4. Plan to go to Mass early. Smile and speak to the
other people who are arriving. A friendly hello makes everyone feel wanted and welcome.
5. Bless yourself with holy water. That simple gesture
reminds you of your baptism through which you can participate in the Eucharist. Be sure to genuflect before you
enter your pew. We do this as an act of reverence and acknowledgement of God’s presence.
6. Enter God’s presence. Be still and let go of all distractions.
“If anyone wishes to come after Me,
he must deny himself daily and
take up his cross and follow Me.”
- Luke 9:23
Fr. Michael B. Brillantes
Eucharistic Community II
Queridos feligreses,
Misa,
1. Saber por qué está aquí. La misa es una liturgia, lo
que significa un "trabajo de la gente". No ir a misa a ver
sino a participar.
a tu vida?
