IMPORTANT NOTE: Paper Collection Container
The Dumpster in our church compound is
constantly being used and abused by people
from outside. To control this kind of illegal
operations our Dumpster will be locked all
the time. This notice will be in the Bulletin
for 3-4 weeks. The City has brought to our
attention that the dumpster kept at the
present location is in violation of the plan
submitted to them initially. So this will be
placed back where it is planned to be in
future.
Our paper recycle container has not been making any
money for the Parish unlike in the earlier days. It brought
us only $50.50 (Fifty Dollars and Fifty cents) for the
whole year. This container also will be soon removed
from the property in the near future. You may not bring
any more papers for recycling. This bin together with our
own dumpster provide cover for those who want to dump
sofas, beds, chairs, TVs and other such items illegally in
our property and most of the time we end up taking them
to the city dumpster. So I am trying to clean up the area
there and install the fence in the east end of the property.

Mary’s Role in Salvation History
(Part 2)
The gift of Mary to the Church was Jesus’ last human
act from the Cross. He placed His mother’s care in the
hands of the only apostle present at the cross, the
Apostle John. “When Jesus saw his mother and the
disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother,
Woman, behold your son. Then he said to the disciple,
Behold your mother. And from that hour the disciple
took her into his home.” (John 19:26-27)
This is one of only two scenes in which Mary is present
in John’s Gospel. The first is the narrative of the
Wedding at Cana in Chapter 2 of John’s Gospel.
These two scenes in which Mary is present have several
things in common. First, Mary is addressed as
“gunai” (from the Greek gune) or “dear Woman” by
Jesus in both scenes. Second, she is never called by
name but only identified as the “mother of Jesus”; and
third, in both cases a “new family” is formed at Cana
by the wedding itself and in the second scene in John
19:26-27 “When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple
there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman,
behold, your son.” A “new family” is formed by a kind
of adoption in which “the beloved disciple” takes Mary
as his mother and in the greater sense, as the mother of
Christ’s family, the Church—a role she fills to this day.
