En 1947, la Dra. Ethel Percy Andrus
fundó la NRTA: la Comunidad de
Educadores de AARP para abordar los
desafíos económicos y de salud de los
educadores jubilados. Los beneficios
que ella ofrecía a los maestros
jubilados se volvieron tan populares
que las personas que no eran
educadores también pretendían los
mismos beneficios que los socios. Por
lo tanto, once años más tarde, en 1958,
la Dra. Andrus fundó AARP y logró
extender sus servicios a una audiencia
más amplia.
