La Universidad Rovira i Virgili (URV)
La Universidad pública del sur de Cataluña
Cuenta con 12 centros, donde 1.500 profesores e investigadores imparten una
enseñanza de calidad a 14.000 estudiantes, de los cuales 1.200 son estudiantes de
máster y 1.200 de doctorado).
Calidad
La URV está firmemente comprometida con la calidad y dispone de un sistema de garantía de la calidad certificado por los
organismos competentes en calidad universitaria. Este compromiso se ve reflejado en los resultados de su actividad docente,
investigadora y de transferencia, y en su buen posicionamiento en los rankings nacionales e internacionales. Buen ejemplo
de ello es el reconocimiento como Campus de Excelencia Internacional Cataluña Sur, con el objetivo de convertirse en un
referente internacional en los ámbitos de Química y Energía, Nutrición y Salud, Turismo, Enología, y Patrimonio y Cultura.
Internacionalización
En los últimos años, la URV ha experimentado un crecimiento continuo en el número de proyectos, actividades, profesores
y estudiantes internacionales, que, en el caso de los estudios de posgrado, constituyen el 27% del total de posgraduados.
En los estudios de doctorado, el 33 % de los estudiantes son internacionales. Las siete áreas de la URV más visibles
internacionalmente son: química, ingeniería, medicina clínica, ciencias agrícolas, ciencias sociales, medio ambiente y
ecología y geociencias.
Amplia oferta
La URV ofrece más de 100 titulaciones, de las que 50 corresponden a másteres universitarios, que permiten a los
estudiantes acceder a 23 programas de doctorado de todas las áreas de conocimiento. Además, ofrece 37 títulos propios
de posgrado, entre másteres y diplomas de especialización, específicamente dirigidos al mercado de trabajo y al desarrollo
de la carrera profesional, con horarios compatibles con la actividad laboral.
Investigación
Más de 1.000 investigadores séniors y júniors participan en las actividades de 142 grupos de investigación en diferentes
ámbitos de la Universidad. En cuanto a la producción científica, según Web of Science, la URV produjo casi 1.000 artículos de
referencia internacional en el 2015. De acuerdo con la edición 2014 del SCImago Institutions Rankings, la URV se posiciona
como segunda universidad de España con más impacto de su investigación.

The Rovira i Virgili University (URV)
Is the public university of Southern Catalonia
It has 12 faculties and schools where 1,500 teachers and researchers provide quality teaching
to 14,000 students, of whom 1,200 are postgraduate students and 1,200 are registered on
doctoral programmes.
Quality
The URV is full committed to quality and has a quality assurance system certified by the university quality assurance agencies.
This commitment is reflected in the results of its teaching, research and transfer activities, and its good position in national and
international rankings. Another good example is the recognition of the URV as the Campus of International Excellence Southern
Catalonia, through which the University aims to become an international leader in the ambits of Chemistry and Energy, Nutrition
and Health, Tourism, Oenology, and Heritage and Culture.
Internationalisation
In recent years at the URV, the number of projects, activities, teaching staff and international students has grown continually.
Indeed international students now make up 27% of the total number of postgraduate students. In doctoral degrees alone this
figure rises to 33%. The seven areas where the URV has the greatest international visibility are: chemistry, engineering, clinical
medicine, agricultural sciences, social sciences, ecology and the environment, and geosciences.
Wide-ranging course offer
The URV offers 50 university master’s degrees from which students can progress to 23 doctoral programmes covering all areas
of knowledge, including sciences, health sciences, law, engineering and architecture, arts and humanities. Furthermore, it offers
37 URV-specific postgraduate programmes, including specialised master’s degrees and diplomas, which are specifically aimed at
the job market and professional development and which are taught at times compatible with normal business hours.
Research
More than 1,000 senior and junior researchers participate in 142 research groups in different ambits at the University. In terms
of scientific production, the Web of Science states that the URV produced almost 1,000 internationally cited research articles
in 2015. The 2014 edition of the SCImago Institutions Rankings ranks the URV as the second university in Spain in terms of
research impact.
Másteres universitarios
ESPECIALIZACIÓN PROFESIONAL E INICIACIÓN A LA INVESTIGACIÓN
Duración: Los másteres oficiales constan de 60, 90 o 120 créditos ECTS (Sistema
Becas y ayudas: Anualmente, la URV ofrece más de 200
Europeo de Transferencia y Acumulación de Créditos) y tienen una duración de un
becas propias para estudiantes de máster con destacado
curso, un curso y medio y dos cursos, respectivamente. El curso académico se inicia en
expediente académico.

Grants and bursaries: Each year, the URV offers and funds

Duration: These have an expected duration of three years for
full-time students and five years for part-time students, and conclude
with the preparation and defence of a doctoral thesis.
