La jornada de ayer estuvo marcada por los segundos puestos para España que obtuvieron
la pareja formada por Sara Hurtado y Adriá Díaz
en patinaje artístico y Queralt Castellet en la
modalidad de halfpipe. Los primeros se que-
daron a tan solo un punto de alcanzar el oro,
que esta vez fue para los italianos Charlene
Guignard y Marco Fabbri.
Yesterday Spain got two second positions in
figure skating, by the pair formed by Sara Hurtado and Adriá Díaz, and by Queralt Castellet
in halfpipe. The first ones were only one point
below the winners, Charlene Guignard and
Marco Fabbri.

La primera medalla para España la consiguió por la
mañana la rider catalana Queralt Castellet al terminar segunda en la final de halfpipe, solo superada
por la actual campeona del mundo de la disciplina,
la china Xuetong Cai.
The Spanish rider, Queralt Castellet, won yesterday
the first medal finishing the second at the halfpipe
competition, surpassed only by the current World
Champion, Xuetong Cai, from China.

Jorge Termens Vendrell
Coordinador de jueces de
hockey femenino
Está muy contento con el trabajo que están
realizando ambos equipos que están trabajando incluso mejor de lo que se esperaba.
Jorge es coordinador de la mesa de jueces de
hockey femenino. Es el encargado de organizar
a los voluntarios y de que no falte nada durante
los partidos. Además trabaja codo con codo con
los árbitros, ayudándoles en todos momento.
Granada 2015 es su primera experiencia en
las Universidas, pero lleva 25 en el mundo del
hockey. Ha participado ya en 5 mundiales como
juez de mesa y en otros 6 como jefe de material
de la federación española. Además, lleva dos
años como entrenador del club Hielo Jaca de la
liga española y el pasado invierno fue segundo
entrador preselección. También ha sido árbitro
de la liga española de hockey sobre hielo durante 19 años.
Está muy sorprendido de lo bien que está
resultando la Universiada y le gusta mucho el
ambiente de la ciudad y la acogida que el hockey está teniendo por parte del público.
Jorge is the coordinator of the table of judges
of women hockey. He organizes the volunteers
and makes sure nothing is missing. He also
works hand in hand with the referees.
Granada 2015 is his first Universiade, but he
had dedicated 25 years of his life to the hockey.
He has participates in 5 Worldcups as table
judge working with the Spanish Federation.
Besides, he has trained the club Hielo Jaca hockey team and last winter, he was the second
trainer of the preselection. He has also worked
as a referee in the ice hockey Spanish League
for 19 years.
He is very surprised with how good the Universiade is going and he really likes the atmosphere of the city and the warmth of the hockey
audience. He declares to be really proud of the
work the ice hockey athletes, both women and
men, are doing during this Universiade.

Miguel Aguado, motrileño, es autónomo
y lleva un estudio de diseño web y marketing en linea. Ha sido contratado por la
empresa que ganó el concurso de Tecnología e Información de la Universiada. A
sus 40 años es la primera vez que colabora en un evento como este. El inicio ha
sido duro, pero está contento con su equipo de personal. Nos recomienda la ruta de
senderismo de Cachorros de Monachil..
Comité organizador
Roberto es uno de los responsables del
comité organizador. Se encarga del Programa observadores, que acompaña al
comité organizador de la siguiente universiada, trabaja conjuntamente con FISU, nos resalta que son muy agradecidos.
Practica el deporte, le encanta el voleybol,
y nos recomienda que a partir del día 15
si queremos tranquilidad visitemos su
pueblo, la Rabita en la costa de Granada.
Voluntario
Este voluntario nacido en Granada trabaja
en el departamento internacional y es el encargado de coordinar a los voluntarios que
hablan idiomas, asignando a los attachés
para que acompañen a las delegaciones
extranjeras. Está muy contento con la organización de esta Universiada y agradece
que el tiempo esté acompañando. Para él,
una de las mejores cosas de Granada son
sus famosas tapas.

Esta granadina trabajora del hotel Carmen
asegura que están viviendo días llenos de
movimiento, lo cual es un gran beneficio
para el hotel. Aunque no este muy al tanto
del deporte, le parece muy interesante
conocer a tantas promesas del deporte
olímpico y ver la buena relación que tienen entre ellos. También destaca el buen
ambiente universitario y el impresionante
patrimonio de la ciudad.

Universiade. It is his first time at an event
like this and, even though the first days
were herd, he is happy with is workteam.
He recommends us to enjoy de hiking

Roberto is one of the organization commitee responsibles. He is in charge of the
Observers Program, and accompanies
the organization committee os the next
Universiade. He works together with the
FISU, and says that they are really grateful. He is a sport lover and recommends to
visit his hometown, La Rabita, in the coast
of Granada and enjoy its peacefulness.
Volunteer
Born in Granada, this volunteer works at
the international department. He coordinates the volunteers who speak foreign
languages and appoints the attachés for
the different delegations. He is very happy
with the organization of the Universiade
and pleased that the weather has gotten
better. He reminds not to forget to enjoy
Granada’s famous tapas.

Ángeles is from Granada and works at
one of the hotel that collaborate with the
Universiade. She says that this event is
bringing many benefits to the hotel and
that finds very interesting meeting all the
young olympic promises and see the good
relationship they all have. She highlights
the university atmosphere and the impressive heritage of the city.

Emocionante jornada de hockey

El equipo masculino de Suecia
venció ayer a Corea por 5-4 en un
emocionante y competido partido, que no tuvo ganador hasta
después de la prórroga, cuando
los suecos ganaron a los coreanos en la tanda de penaltis, tras
no haber podido resolverlo en el
gol de oro.
A las 5 de la tarde se enfrentaron
dos grandes, Canadá y Rusia. La
primera parte estuvo dominada
por los rusos, que consiguieron
marcar dos goles. En el segundo
periodo apretaron los canadienses, que a pesar de encajar otro
gol, fueron capaces de marcar 3
tantos. La última parte del partido fue de Canadá, que consiguió
encajar dos goles más a los rusos,
dejando un marcador final de 5-2.
A la misma hora jugó la selección femenina de Estados Unidos
contra la de Japón, encuentro que
se resolvió con la victoria de las
japonesas por 1-4, que fueron
ganando desde el primer periodo.
La selección masculina de Estados Unidos disputó también un
encuentro contra Kazajistán, a
las 20:30 horas, con un resultado final de 2-3, ganando Estados
Unidos en los penaltis.
Por último, China ganó a las
españolas, en un partido que se
celebró también a última hora de
la tarde en el Pabellón Mulhacén,
después de un duro partido en el
que encajaron 12 goles, dejando a
las españolas en el último puesto
de la tabla.

winner until the Swedes beat the

biggest teams, played at 17:00.

Japanese girls, who leaded the
whole match.
USA men team faced Kazakhstan at 20:30, with a final score of
2- 3, winning USA by shootouts.
At last, China showed their
strength on their match against
the Spanish women team at the
Mulhacen Pavillion, where they
played late in the afternoon. It
was a hard match where the Chinese girls scored 12 goals, leaving
the Spaniards on the last place of
the ranking.

China sigue líder en halfpipe

La rider catalana Queralt Casquellet consiguió la plata en halfpipe,
primera medalla de la Universiada
para España, solo por detrás de
la campeona del mundo, la china
Xeutong Cai. En la categoría masculina, los estadounidenses se
hicieron con 3 de los 4 primeros
puestos después de una compe-
tición muy reñida en la que consiguió el oro el japonés Ayumu
Nedefuji, que quedó segundo en
el half pipe de la Copa del Mundo
de Sierra Nevada 2013.
La española, que terminó con
un hematoma en su ojo izquierdo
tras una caída en la clasificación,
dejó para la última ronda sus mejores trucos, pasando de la sexta
plaza a la segunda.

Skiing Super-G competition, the
Polish athlete, Karolina Chrapek, won the first position with
a 1:02,04 time. Only with a 0,34
difference, arrived the Russian

La pareja española compuesta por
Sara Hurtado y Adriá Díaz consiguió la medalla de plata con una
puntuación total de 163.56, gracias a una ejecución magnífica de
su programa libre que hizo vibrar
las gradas del Granada Iglú desde
su aparición en el hielo.
Sara y Adriá, que vienen de
obtener un quinto puesto en el
último europeo celebrado la semana pasada, se quedaron a tan
solo un punto de alcanzar el oro,
que en esta ocasión consiguieron
los italianos Charlene Guignard y
Marco Fabbri con una puntuación
de 164.98. Federica Testa y Lukas
Moroshkin, de Eslovaquia, lograron
el bronce con 142.76.
Adriá salía bastante afectado de
su ejercicio debido a un pequeño
error cometido en su actuación,
aunque los medallistas declararon
que fue una “pasada” recibir el cariño y el calor de Granada.
La otra pareja española en la
competición, formada por Celia
Robledo y Luis Fenero, obtuvo
un séptimo puesto (subieron uno
respecto a la clasificación de ayer),
tras realizar un emocionante programa libre con muy buenas secuencias y elementos. “Estamos
muy contentos con el resultado,
muy satisfechos porque nos hemos sentido muy cómodos en la
pista”, señalaron.

Curling
El curling es un deporte de precisión que enfrenta a dos
equipos de cuatro jugadores sobre una pista de hielo, donde cada participante ha de deslizar una piedra de granito de
20 kg hacia una diana situada al final de la pista.
Adopta los principios básicos de los bolos o la petanca, y
tiene como objetivo dejar las piedras lo más cerca posible
de la diana, ayudándose de unas escobas cuyo barrido
modifica la trayectoria. Una vez se han realizado todos
los lanzamientos de una ronda, puntuarán las piedras que
hayan quedado más cerca del centro, y solo podrán hacerlo
las de un equipo, que no conseguirán más puntos si la siguiente piedra desde el centro es del equipo rival.
El Curling tiene una gran implantación en el norte de
Europa y Canadá, donde hay ligas profesionales. Se cree
que apareció por primera vez en la baja Edad Media, y las
primeras referencias escritas aparecen en los grabados de
la abadía de Paisley, en Reino Unido, que datan de 1541.
Aunque sus orígenes no están claros, existen evidencias
que aseveran que el curling nació en Escocia en el siglo XVI,
donde fueron halladas las piedras más antiguas encontradas hasta la fecha, en 1511.
El juego cobró tanta popularidad en Escocia en el siglo
XIX que propició la formación del Grand Caledonian Club
en Edimburgo, el año 1838, club que elaboró el primer
reglamento de durling.
En los primeros tiempos, las piedras eran simples rocas
extraídas de los ríos y, en ocasiones, eran pulidas y dotadas
de forma. Entonces, el juego dependía más de la suerte
que de la habilidad, ya que el lanzador tenía poco control
sobre la piedra.
El juego es aún conocido en Escocia y regiones de Nueva
Zelanda como “the roaring game” (el juego que ruge) por
el sonido que producen las piedras al deslizarse sobre las
pequeñas gotas de hielo formadas en la superficie de la
pista. La palabra curling deriva del verbo escocés curr, que

significa producir un pequeño ruido. Además, hay una
norma no escrita que dice que los ganadores de un partido
deben invitar a una consumición a los vencidos.
Curling is a precision sport on which two teams are confronted on an ice rink, where each participant has to slide
a 20 kg. granite stone.
It is quite similar to bowling or petanque and its target is
to leave the stones as close as possible to the bull’s eye,
helped by a broom that modifies the direction of the stone. Once all the stones have been thrown, the two stones
which are closest to the target punctuate, only if they are
from the same team. In case the second stone is from the
opponent, only one stone punctuates.
Curling is very common in Canada and northen Europe,
where there are professional leagues. It is believed to have started on Middle Age, as it appears on 1541 engraves
in United Kingdom. There are proves of the existence of
curling in Scotland in 1511 and Edinburgh was home to the
Grand Caledonian Club, that created the first rules in 1838.
At the beginning, the stones were polished rocks taken
from rivers and it was more about chance, rather than
precision.
Curling has many curious aspects, for example, there’s a
non-written rule by which the winners have to invite the
other team for a drink or something similar.

Una pista fruto del esfuerzo

La pista de baches de la Sierra es el resultado del gran trabajo conjunto del personal

Cuco, han sido los responsables
de la construcción de la pista de
baches, situada en la pista Visera, homologada por la FIS para
competiciones internacionales y
donde se celebró la Copa de Europa y Final de la Copa del Mundo de dicha disciplina en el 2013.
Para que la pista sea homologada, la FIS marca unos parámetros máximos y mínimos de
longitud, ancho e inclinación. El
número de obstáculos depende del constructor. La pista de
baches de la Universiada tiene
200m de longitud, 20m de ancho e inclinación de unos 28
grados de media, cumpliendo así
la normativa estipulada en este
tipo de eventos.
La construcción comenzó el 26
de enero y terminó el 2 de
febrero. Hay que destacar el
gran trabajo que se hizo en el
perfil de la pista, ya que en sus
inicios prácticamente no había
nieve, y tras el resultado obtenido se volvió a demostrar la gran
eficacia y experiencia de los maquinistas de Sierra Nevada.
Los entrenos de esta disciplina empezaron el 3 de febrero.
Posteriormente, las condiciones
meteorológicas adversas llegaron a cubrir todos los baches
por lo que hubo que volver a reconstruir la pista. Gracias al gran
trabajo en equipo de pistas, organización (en general a Reyes
Santaolalla), voluntarios y la

Alfredo Naranjo and Iker Cuco
were the ones in charge of
modeling the moguls ski slopes in Visera, a slope in Sierra
Nevada, that was recognised by
the FIS (International Ski Federation) for holding international
competitions and were the places where the Freestyle Skiing
European Cup and the finals of
the World Cup were held in 2013.
This ski slope has to be planned by the FIS according to a
fixed maximum and minimum
parameters of length, width
and slope. The moguls piste of
this Universiade 2015 has 200
metres of length, 20 metres of
width and a slope of 28 degrees
on average, as it is stipulated in
the rules of this kind of sport
events.

Técnica, giros y saltos | Skill, turns and jumps
La pista está dividida en tres partes. Un
tercio de ella, hasta el primer salto, corresponde a un 15 por ciento de longitud. La segunda parte es la parte central
o intermedia, donde el jurado percibe
mucho mejor la técnica y el número de
giros. La parte final, que corresponde a
un 20 por ciento de la longitud, contiene un último salto de carrera donde se
puntúa la acrobacia.
La valoración del jurado en esta modalidad está organizada: 60% de puntos
por la técnica aplicada y número de giros, un 20% por tiempo de la ejecución
y otro 20% por la suma del primer y último salto.
The piste is divided into three parts. A
third part of it correspond to a 15% of
the total lenght of the piste. The second one, the central or intermidiate
part, is the place where the jury can
perceive better the skill and the number of turns. The last 20% part of the
lenght of the piste, where the athletes
make their last jump for being scored.
The final score corresponds to: a
60% is obtained from the skill and
number of turns, a 20% comes from
the execution time and the final 20%
is obtained by the addition of the first
and the last jump.
The trainings of this discipline
started last February 3rd. Thereupon, the adverse weather
conditions obliged to reprepared the moguls piste as the
snow had covered all the already created bumps. Thanks to
the great teamwork of the snow
piste staff (specially thanks to
Reyes Santaolalla), volunteers
and the Spanish Armed Forces
(MADOC, MOE, AA-LOG21 and
RT22 groups) the piste was
operative again and for the rest
of the competitions, despite the
blizzard and the bad weather
conditions.

junto al grupo de observadores mostrándoles las instalaciones de Fuentenueva.

La Universiada no entiende de edades.
Nadie se quiere perder ni un detalle de lo
que pasa en todas las sedes, como este
simpático señor que no dudaba en consultar los resultados en la app oficial.
Durante estos días es frecuente ver a la
mascota oficial de la Universiada en diferentes situaciones. Ayer Uggi se arrancó
con un baile flamenco en el Mirador de
San Nicolás.
The Universiade has no age. Nobody
wants to miss a single detail of whats
going on at the venues, just as this man
who was checking the results at the official Universiade app.
These days it is usual to see the official
Universiade mascot in different and funny situations. Yesterday, Uggi starred a
stunning flamenco dance at San Nicolás
viewpoint.

The app, designed for Android and iOS has become during these 15 days the main reference point to follow the Universiade Granada 2015. The number of donwloads is closed to
the one of other official apps such as Formula 1, Canal + Sports and the main Spanish TV

El Monasterio de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, conocido comúnmente como la Cartuja de Granada, es uno de los hitos de la cumbre de la arquitectura barroca española.
