Asturianberries: passion for the berries
Asturianberries es una empresa del
Grupo La Cooperativa, nacida en el
2005, que se especializa en el cultivo
y comercialización de todo tipo de
berries.
Asturianberries is a company that
belongs to a farmer co-operative (La
Cooperativa de Agricultores de Gijón),
founded in 2005, that is specialized
in the cultivation and marketing of all
kind of berries.
La base productiva de Asturianberries
son los productores integrados, socios
de La Cooperativa que mediante un
contrato de integración garantizan la
venta de su producto, la formación y
la asistencia técnica necesaria para
llevar a cabo el cultivo.
Cuenta de una plantación principal
en una finca de 17 ha. en Villaviciosa
que además de producir arándano
es un banco de pruebas de diferentes
ensayos y un escaparate para los
productores actuales y los que se van
incorporando.
Disponemos en Gijón de unas
instalaciones logísticas dotadas con
cámaras de frío en las que se procesa
(comprueba, pesa, etiqueta y
empaqueta) la fruta de todo el grupo
para posteriormente distribuirla y que
llegue al mercado en las mejores
condiciones.
Arándano
Nuestros frutos son redondeados, de color negro azulado y de un tamaño superior
al arándano silvestre (±16 milímetros), con la piel firme, cubierta de un polvillo
azulado (pruina) y la pulpa jugosa, son aromáticos, refrescantes, ligeramente ácidos,
con notas dulces en su madurez y discretamente astringentes.
Son una gran fuente de antioxidantes, antisépticos, antiinflamatorios, bactericidas y
muy ricos en polifenoles, por lo que son una gran ayuda en la protección de la visión,
la reducción de la glucemia, el fortalecimiento del colágeno, además de cardiosaludables
y ayudar a evitar cáncer y la ralentización del Alzehimer y el Parkinson.
The production base of Asturianberries
is formed by integrated producers,
members of La Cooperativa that due
to an integration contract guaranteed
the selling of their products, the
knowledge and the technical assistance
required to cultivate the fruit.
The company´s main plantation is
located in a 17 ha. field in Villaviciosa
which appart form producing
blueberry is also an experimental
cultivation area to test the adaptability
of plants to the different conditions
found in the valleys where they will
be cultivated.
Our headquarters in Gijón are
equipped with cold processing
cameras where we check, weigh and
package the fruit of all the members
of the cooperative to distribute it and
reach the market in the best conditions.
Blueberry
Our fruits are rounded, black-blue and larger than the wild blueberry
(±16 mm), with firm skin, covered with a blue dust (bloom) and a juicy
pulp. They are aromatic, refreshing, slightly acidic, with sweet notes at
maturity and quietly astringent.
They are a great source of antioxidants, antiseptics, anti-inflammatory,
bactericidal and very rich in polyphenols, which are a great help in protecting
vision, reducing blood sugar levels, the strengthening of collagen and helps
avoiding cancer and the slowdown of the Alzheimer and Parkinson's.
En el corazón de un Reino
La situación geográfica de Asturias, enclavada
entre el mar y la montaña, proporciona unas
condiciones de humedad y temperatura óptimas
para el cultivo de los berries.
La naturaleza en Asturias siempre ha formado
parte inseparable de su historia. Sus peculiares
fronteras, las escarpadas montañas y el
turbulento mar, han permitido que este antiguo
reino de espectacular belleza se mantenga
inalterable en costumbres, cultura y leyendas.
En sus verdes valles el suelo es fértil, orgánico
y ácido, justo lo que el berry necesita, un buen
ejemplo de ello es que aquí los arándanos y
las moras crecen silvestres.

Frambuesa
Están formados por muchas drupas, aproximadas en piña y que destacan
fácilmente. De color rojo intenso, cada drupa tiene adherido un pelo de color
amarillo oro. Nuestras frutas son grandes (±6 gr.) de sabor agradable, frescas,
aciduladas y con notas azucaradas.
Poseen un alto contenido de fibra, vitamina C y ácido fólico. El consumo de
ácido fólico ayuda a prevenir el cáncer y es fundamental en la gestación.
Tienen acción diurética y propiedades que previenen el reumatismo y la gota.
In the heart of a kigdom
The location of Asturias, stucked
between the sea and the mountain,
gives the perfect conditions on
humidity and temperature for the
cultivation of berries.
In Asturias, nature has been an
inseparable part of its history. Its
particular borders, steep mountains
and turbulent seas has conserved
the customs, culture and legends of
this old kingdom of spectacular
beauty.
In the green valleys where you can
always find a small river, the ground
is fertile, organic and acid, just what
the berry looks for. As an example
to understand it, its enough to say
that blueberry and blackberry grow
wild in our fields.
Raspberry
It is characterised by uniform light red fruit of remarkable shape, appearance
and size, that are long lasting and very consistent.
Raspberries have a high content of fiber, vitamin C and folic acid. Its
comsumption helps preventing cancer and is vital in pregnancy, having also
diuretic effects and properties against rheumatism and gout.
Nuestro sistema de producción
Los productores integrados, con una media de
superficie inferior a 1ha., reciben un plan de
producción específico en el que se les aconseja el
tipo de variedad de planta más acorde con el suelo
a cultivar. Las tierras son mimadas por sus propietarios
con un altísimo de nivel de cuidados, lejos del
tratamiento “industrial” de las grandes plantaciones
intensivas.
La fruta es recogida de manera manual y
cuidadosamente seleccionada siguiendo los criterios
de asturianberries. A su llegada diaria al centro de
recogida es verificada y en ese mismo momento se
refrigera para mantener su alta calidad y preservar
su sabor.
La cadena del frío no se romperá en las cargas
y transportes, y llegará al punto de venta
y al consumidor en óptimas condiciones.
Our production system
The integrated producers, with an average
of less than 1ha. by producer, receive a
personal production planning in which they
are adviced about the kind of plant that fits
better with the ground that is going to be
cultivated. The fields are cultivated with a high
level of care, faraway from what is done in the
big industrial fields.
The fruit is carefully selected by producers at the
time of picking. This procedure is carried out only
by hand and according to the quality criteria set by
Asturianberries. In the storage facility, the berries
are chilled using forced-air systems that allow the
ideal temperature to be reached rapidly in order to
maintain their high quality and safeguard their taste.
The cold chain will not be broken during any
subsequent stages of production.
Grosella
Son bayas del tamaño de un guisante dispuestas en racimos, redondas,
de color rojo intenso y su pulpa es carnosa y jugosa. Al masticar la baya,
su piel fina y delicada estalla en la boca, produciendo una agradable
sensación refrescante.
Son muy ricas en ácidos orgánicos (antocianos y carotenoides) de acción
antioxidante, de bajo valor calórico por su escaso aporte de hidratos de
carbono, especialmente ricas en vitamina C y buena fuente de fibra que
mejora el tránsito intestinal.
Redcurant
Our redcurrants are the size of a pea, arranged in clusters, round and
with a deep red color. Its pulp is fleshy and juicy. While chewing the berry
its delicate skin explodes in the mouth, producing a refreshing feeling.
Due to the verified high levels of vitamin C, fruit acids, and fiber the
berries contain, it is considered redcurrant berries to have fever-reducing
effects, sweat-inducing, mildly laxative, astringent, appetite increasing,
blood cleansing, diuretic and digestive properties.
