Fr. Don's Musings…
I'll be away from the parish this week at the annual Priest
Retreat. Once a year the bishop asks us to spend several days
away from our regular parish ministry to focus more exclusively
on prayer. The priests' retreat will be at Mt. Angel Monastery and
Bishop Tyson from Yakima will be our retreat master.
As a priest, I'm much more than the administrator of a church, I
am called to be like Christ to you whom God has called me to
serve. To do that, prayer is a necessity. I usually spend an hour a
day in private prayer to unite myself with the Lord. This annual
retreat is an extended time to focus on prayer, to "rediscover Jesus"
in a deeper way in my life. This year, with my transfer to a
different parish, the retreat will be especially helpful as I adjust
spiritually and emotionally to the change.
Please keep the priests of the diocese in your prayers this week
as we go away on retreat to pray.

At the Easter Vigil this year when Fr. Don
asked all of us, parishioners at St. Peter: “Are
you willing to affirm the testimony expressed
by the godparents/sponsors of these new Catholics and support them in faith, prayer and example as
we prepare to celebrate the Easter Sacraments?” We all
responded: “WE ARE!” Well, now these new Catholics
are waiting for you to help them show their commitment by becoming active in the parish. Invite them to
join your prayer group, organization, etc. They are Annette Picciano, Annmarie Overholser, Johanna Hamilton, Ross Miyau and Sarah Bradley.

Adult Faith Formation
What are Spiritual Retreats? You could be as wealthy as a
king--yet miserable--if you have no friends. Or, be as poor
as dirt--yet happy--because you're surrounded by loved ones.
One’s personal happiness is relationships with other people.
And what personal relationship could be more important
than the relationship with God? But friendship takes time
and needs to be strengthened by conversation. Retreats are a
time away from our normal activities to spend time getting
reacquainted with God, to examine the priorities of life and
to make concrete and practical resolutions for improvement.
There are many types of retreats, of various lengths and
topics. Retreats may be a day long or a month long. They
can be held at camps, monasteries, or special centers which
foster an atmosphere of silence as a means for listening to
the Holy Spirit and getting to know Jesus while getting to
know yourself. Have you scheduled your year-end retreat?
It is the best gift you can give yourself. Call Trappist Abbey
in Lafayette or Mt. Angel or Our Lady of Peace Retreat
House in Beaverton.

Reflexiones del Padre Don…
Voy a estar fuera de la parroquia esta semana para asistir al retiro
anual de sacerdotes. Una vez al año el obispo nos pide pasar varios
días fuera de nuestro ministerio parroquial para concentrarnos más
exclusivamente en la oración. El retiro de los sacerdotes será en el
Monasterio de Monte Ángel y el Obispo Tyson de Yakima será
nuestro guía.
Como sacerdote, yo soy mucho más que el administrador de una
iglesia, estoy llamado a ser como Cristo para los que Dios me ha
llamado a servir. Para hacer eso, la oración es una necesidad. Suelo
pasar una hora al día en oración privada para unirme con el Señor.
Este retiro anual es de un tiempo prolongado para concentrarme en la
oración, para "volver a descubrir a Jesús" de una manera más
profunda en mi vida. Este año, con mi traslado a una parroquia
diferente, el retiro será especialmente útil como ajusto espiritual y
emocionalmente al cambio.
Favor de mantener a todos los sacerdotes de la diócesis en sus
oraciones esta semana. Ya nos vamos a un retiro para orar.

Sacramentos de Pascua?" Nosotros todos respondimos:
"¡Si Estamos!" Bueno, ahora estos nuevos católicos están
esperando que se vea claramente su compromiso a ser
activo en la parroquia. Invitarles a unirse a su grupo de
oración, organización, etc. Los nuevos católicos son

Formación de Fe para Adultos
--¿Cuáles son los Retiros Espirituales? Usted podría ser tan rico
como un rey-sin embargo sentirse desgraciado-si no tiene amigos. O,
ser muy pobre-sin embargo ser muy feliz-porque estás rodeado de tus
seres queridos. Nuestra felicidad personal es base en las relaciones
con otras personas. Y ¿qué relación personal podría ser más
importante que la relación con Dios? Pero la amistad toma tiempo y
necesita ser reforzada por la conversación. Un retiro es un tiempo
lejos de nuestras actividades normales para pasar tiempo para
re-encontrarse con Dios, para examinar las prioridades de la vida y de
hacer resoluciones concretas y prácticas para mejorarse. Hay muchos
tipos de retiros, de diferentes tiempos y temas. Retiros pueden ser un

The recipients of this year’s CDA Scholarships are
Jacqueline Baca, Alesha Garand ,and Abby Reohr.
Congratulations and best wishes as you continue on your
path to higher learning.
Our fall bazaar will be held on November 5th in the parish hall.
We would like all of our members who are able to participate in
some way. If each of us can make a few craft items for the table
it would be very helpful and we can offer a variety to our
customers. We plan on having a country store so if your skill is in
baking pies or breads we can use your help when we get closer to
the date. Just keep this event in mind as you enjoy your summer
and see if you can come up with something to offer when we get

weekend for tamales for the weekend of June 11 and
12th. The tamales are 18.50 per dozen and will be ready

Pre-School Corner
Take three pieces of string, dip them in three
different colors of paint, lay them in squiggle lines on a half sheet of
paper, fold the paper over and pull the strings out. You have now
painted with string.
It was a fun project and more fun to see what shapes we saw in the
picture. We had lots of birds, a rooster, a parrot playing bagpipes and
a dragonfly. We have been practicing for our graduation program,
learning new fun songs. Our Noah's Ark booklet is finished. We
learned that God loves us. We also continue to work on our letter
sounds.

Los alumnos que se ganaron las becas de las Hijas

Nuestro Bazar del tiempo de otoño se llevará a cabo el 5 de
noviembre en el salón parroquial. Nos gustaría que todos nuestros

mesa sería muy útil y se podría ofrecer una variedad a nuestros

Rincón de los Pre-EscolaresSe toman tres pedazos de hilo grueso, luego se
sumergen en tres diferentes colores de pintura y se dejan caer en hoja
de papel, se doblar el papel y mientras se aplasta el papel se jalan los
hilos. Ahora los niños saben pintar con hilo grueso. Esto fue un
proyecto divertido y más divertido fue ver las forma que los niños
vieron en la hoja de papel. Los dibujos parecían pájaros, un gallo, un
loro que toca las gaitas y una libélula. Ellos han estado practicando
para su programa de graduación. Están aprendiendo canciones nuevas
y muy divertidas. Sus libritos de “La Arca de Noé” se han terminado
y los niños están alegres. Siempre se enteran que Dios nos ama. Ellos
continúan trabajando para aprender los sonidos de las letras.
