Por fín en El Prado
Pasión por Renoir

[Finally at the Prado. Passion for Renoir]
Por primera vez, el Museo del Prado ofrece una exposición monográfica sobre Pierre Auguste Renoir, una de las figuras más destacadas del impresionismo. En ella se realiza un auténtico repaso artístico por las distintas etapas del maestro francés, haciendo hincapié, sobre todo, en su época más importante, entre 1874 y 1900.
La treintena de obras expuestas provienen del Sterling & Francine Clark Art Institute y fueron reunidas por el creador del mismo,
Robert Sterling Clark.Tanto él como su esposa Francine eran amantes del arte y dedicaron parte de su copiosa fortuna a coleccionar pinturas, piezas de orfebrería, escultura, porcelana, dibujos y grabados.
La muestra, que podrá verse del 19 de octubre al 6 de febrero, abarca todos los géneros que cultivó el artista: la figura femenina, el desnudo, el paisaje, las flores y la naturaleza muerta.Y en ella puede apreciarse la gran aportación de Renoir a la pintura y también la influencia que sobre él tuvieron las grandes tradiciones pictóricas anteriores. Sin duda, una cita obligada
para este Otoño.
For the first time, the Prado Museum is staging a monographic exhibition on Pierre Auguste Renoir, one of the most outstanding figures in impressionist art. It gives a comprehensive overview of the French master's different artistic phases, with special emphasis on his most
important period between 1874 and 1900.
The thirty-odd works on display are on loan from
the Sterling & Francine Clark Art Institute and
were collected by its founder, Robert Sterling
Clark. Both he and his wife Francine were art
lovers and dedicated part of their considerable fortune to collecting paintings, gold- and silverwork,
sculpture, porcelain, drawings and engravings.
The show is on view from 19 October to 6
February and encompasses all the genres cultivated by the artist: the female figure, the nude,
landscape,flowers and still life.It conveys Renoir's
major contribution to painting and also how he
was influenced by other major pictorial traditions
from previous eras.This is undoubtedly a compelling exhibition for this Autumn.

Los reestrenos ocupan las salas de la capital
Un otoño muy musical
[Revivals fill the theatres of the capital. A highly musical autumn]
Tras el paréntesis veraniego son varios los espectáculos que
retornan a las salas madrileñas. Desde el 8 de septiembre al 31 de
diciembre el musical Mamma mia vuelve al teatro Coliseum. Más
de 40 millones de espectadores has disfrutado ya de este espectáculo desde que se estrenase en Londres en 1999. Una original
boda en una paradisíaca isla griega y las canciones de ABBA son
los protagonistas.
El 25 de septiembre , en el teatro nuevo Alcalá, se repone Annie,
la historia de la huerfanita más famosa de Broadway que de seguro volverá a emocionar a todos los que disfruten de este musical.
También en septiembre vuelve al escenario del teatro Rialto
Movistar, después de un notable éxito de público la pasada temporada, 40 El Musical, una auténtica fiesta para los amantes de la
música moderna con una bonita historia de amor y amistad, no
exenta de sentido del humor, como telón de fondo.
Y por último, el plato fuerte: Los Miserables, el musical basado en
la obra de Victor Hugo que ha sido visto ya por más 56 millones
de personas y es uno de éxitos más grandes de la historia de los
musicales. Los Miserables vuelve a la Gran Vía y al teatro Lope de
Vega, a partir del 19 de noviembre, con una versión revisada por
el productor teatral británico Cameron Mackintosh.

After the summer break, several shows are now returning to
Madrid's theatres. From 8 September until 31 December, the musical
Mamma Mia returns to the Coliseum theatre. Over 40 million spectators
have already enjoyed this show since it was first premiered in London in
1999.An original wedding on a heavenly Greek island, with ABBA songs
as the protagonists.
On 25 September, at the Nuevo Alcalá theatre, we have the revival of
Annie, the story of Broadway's most famous little orphan that is bound to
once again thrill anyone who attends this musical.
September also sees the return to the stage of 40 El Musical at the Rialto
Movistar theatre, after enjoying major success among the public last season.This is a true celebration for lovers of modern music, with the backdrop of a beautiful story of love and friendship with touches of humour.
And lastly the pièce de resistance: Los Miserables, the musical based on
Victor Hugo's work that has already been seen by over 56 million people
and is one of the greatest hits in the history of musicals. Los Miserables
returns to the GranVía and to the Lope deVega theatre from 19 November,
with an updated version by the British theatrical producer Cameron
Mackintosh.

La casa del Ratoncito Pérez está en Madrid
Otoño en la cocina... setas en la cazuela
[And in the vicinity of Botín... The house of Perez the little mouse is in Madrid]
[A seasonal delicacy. Autumn in the kitchen... mushrooms in the pan]
Sin duda, el Ratoncito Pérez es uno de los personajes más queridos por los niños. Pero lo que muchos desconocen es que este ilustre personaje es vecino de la villa de Madrid. Su casita se encuentra situada en el número 8 de la calle Arenal
y puede ser visitada por todos los niños. ¡Qué suerte!
Llega el otoño, las temperaturas se suavizan, caen las
hojas y empieza a llover. La naturaleza cambia de color y nos
obsequia con ricos manjares entre los cuales destacan, sin
duda, las setas.
With the arrival of autumn, the temperature becomes
more bearable, the leaves are falling and it starts to rain. Nature
changes its colours and gives us the gifts of delicious delicacies,
outstanding among which are undoubtedly the mushrooms.
Bromas aparte, la figura del Ratoncito Pérez se popularizó a finales del siglo XIX gracias al padre Coloma, un académico jesuita, consejero de la corona por aquel entonces, que recibió el curioso encargo de escribir un cuento para Alfonso XIII cuando
se le cayó su primer diente.
Este fruto de la tierra ha sido considerado mucho tiempo
como una verdura más, pero lo cierto es que carece totalmente de clorofila por lo que se ha creado una categoría de
alimentos especialmente para ellas: los fungi (palabra que
viene del latín y que significa hongo).
This fruit of the earth has long been viewed as just another vegetable, but in truth it is completely lacking in chlorophyll and a food
category had to be created especially for them: the fungi (a word
with a Latin root meaning mushroom).
El padre Coloma, al parecer, "investigó" y descubrió donde estaba la casa del insigne Ratón Pérez y como éste, cada noche,
visitaba las habitaciones de aquellos niños a los que se les caía un diente, incluidas las del futuro monarca. Hay que decir que
el Ratón Pérez no está solo en esta ardua labor de dejar regalitos a cambio de los dientes de leche. Podría decirse que cuenta
con "corresponsales" internacionales que no son otros que el hada Thoot Fairy en los países anglosajones y la ratita Petite Souris
en Francia.
Perez the Little Mouse is undoubtedly one of the most popular characters with children. But what many do not know is
that this illustrious personage is a denizen of the city of Madrid. His little house is situated in number 8 of calle Arenal and can be visited
by all children. How lucky!
Joking aside, the figure of Perez the Little Mouse became popular in the late
nineteenth century thanks to Father Coloma, a Jesuit academic and advisor
to the Crown at the time, who was charged with writing a story for King
Alfonso XIII when he lost his first tooth.
Apparently Father Coloma "investigated" and discovered the house of Perez,
our distinguished little mouse, and how every night he visited the bedrooms
of any children who had lost a tooth, including that of the future
monarch. It must be said that Perez the Mouse is not alone in this
arduous task of leaving a gift in exchange for a baby tooth.We could
say that he has a few international "correspondents", who are none
other than the Tooth Fairy in Anglo-Saxon countries and La Petite
Souris in France.
Las setas han sido consumidas desde la antigüedad. Celtas,
griegos y romanos eran conocedores de sus propiedades
culinarias y curativas. También sabían de su carácter tóxico
ya que en algunos casos pueden ser alucinógenas y muy
venenosas. Realmente hasta el siglo XVII crecían de forma
espontanea en el campo y es solo a partir de este momento
que empiezan a ser cultivadas por los franceses para utilizarlas en sus fogones.
Es un alimento bastante sano ya que carece totalmente de
grasas o hidratos y su composición, en un 90%, es agua.
Pueden consumirse de muchas formas: a la plancha, rebozadas, en revueltos, acompañando platos de carne e incluso
hay dos especies, el champiñón y las oronjas, que pueden
saborearse crudas en ensaladas o carpaccios.
Mushrooms have been eaten since ancient times. Celts, Greeks and
Romans were familiar with their culinary and curative properties.
They also knew about their toxicity, as in some cases they can be
hallucinogenic and highly poisonous.Actually,until the seventeenth
century they grew spontaneously in the countryside and it was only
from that moment on that the French began to cultivate them for
use in their kitchens.
It is quite a healthy food as it contains no fats or carbohydrates,
being 90% water. It can be eaten in many ways: grilled, breaded, in
scrambled egg dishes or as an accompaniment to meat dishes.There
are even two species, the champignon and the agaricus, which can
be eaten raw in salads or as a carpaccio.
A rainy year with many frosty nights will ensure a good crop of
mushrooms… so there you are, enjoy!
Un año lluvioso y con muchas heladas es garantía segura de
