**Please label all items with your child’s name**
 3 primary notebooks (you can purchase these at Staples or Lakeshore)
 1 inch wide hard cover 3 ring binder
 2 packs of 3in.X5in. index cards.
 4 big pencils
 1 pack of CRAYOLA brand crayons (24 would be best)
 2 folders
 4 glue sticks and 1 Elmer’s glue
 1 regular sized backpack. (NO WHEELS)
 1 bottle of Lysol or Clorox disinfecting wipes
 2 packs of tissues
 1 box of baby wipes
 1 roll of paper towels
 2 package of small size plastic cups
 1 bottle of hand sanitizer and 1 bottle of hand soap (antibacterial)
 1 old, large shirt or a smock, to use for painting (to cover their nice clothes!)
 1 large plastic bottle of juice (need on the first of every month to share for class snack)
 1 healthy snack for your child needs o set in daily (Ex, cut up fruit (NO GRAPES) granola bar, wheat crackers, etc.)
 A change of clothes (underwear, pants, top) labeled with name in a bag. To be replenished when used.
 Vinyl mat r a yoga mat for nap time (NO CLOTH BLANKETS PLEASE)

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We would like to welcome your child to second grade. We are
looking forward to getting to know both you and your child this year. I
am positive that your child will achieve much this year in terms of
academic growth, greater self-confidence, and improved social skills.
Good communication between parent/guardian, teacher, and student is
very important to your child’s academic growth. We would like to ask
that you and your child also get ready for the new year by gathering
the supplies needed for second grade. Please see attached list. Please
be sure to LABEL all the SUPPLIES with your child’s name. Secondly,
please encourage your child to practice the attached sight word list as
they should be able to recognize as many sight words as possible.
Lastly, please be sure that your child reads the assigned books from
the summer reading list that will be sent home in June. If you have
accidently misplaced it, kindly visit the Yonkers Public Schools website
for a complete list of all summer reading books. One of your child’s
first grades upon entering 2nd grade in the fall will be based on the
summer reading.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are pleased to welcome you and your child
to the third grade. We hope you are enjoying this
beautiful summer together! We look forward to an
exciting and successful school year.
We are asking for your help in order to maintain and improve academic
growth. Please encourage your child to read daily for 30 minutes. Please assist
your child by making sure they do the required summer reading. Also, they
should know the addition and subtraction facts from 0-12. It is expected
they know them upon entering third grade. In addition, they should start to
familiarize themselves with the multiplication tables from 0-10. It is our goal
that your child’s grade experience will be filled with personal and academic
growth as a reader, thinker and learner.
Studies have shown that when parents and teachers work together,
children do better in school. It is especially important to keep open lines of
communication. Please feel free to call us about any concerns you may have.
