Pro-Life:
Thank you to everyone who is helping out at the pro-life booth at the
fair this week. Our theme this year is "The Womb--the Ultimate
Environment Worth Protecting". Come and see how we respect and
care for life.
Monday, August 15th is the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary( NOT A HOLY DAY OF
OBLIGATION) There will be a Bi-lingual Mass celebration at St. Joseph in the evening at 6:30pm
HOPE YOU HAVE A
PLEASANT DAY
Volunteers are also needed to bring parishioners to church on
Sunday by using their own vehicle and has insurance. At the present
time we have six people to bring to church and three drivers to rotate
weekends. Sometimes its difficult if one or two of the drivers are
down.
Again St. Joseph is seeking a volunteer (s) to commit themselves on
a regular basis to vacuum the church to prepare for Masses, funerals during the week. Days available without interrupting adoration is
on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday. Several people can sign up for
this ministry and work on a rotation schedule. Please contact the
office at 748-4953.

SACRED HEART/ST. YVES
Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time
In today’s second reading, St. Paul encourages us not to grow
weary or lose heart, but to persevere in following Jesus. Our
willingness to give of ourselves, even in the face of conflict and
division, is one way to measure our discipleship.
“After Jesus, it is the Blessed Virgin Mary who by her example
most perfectly teaches the meaning of discipleship & stewardship...She was called and gifted by God; she responded
generously, creatively and prudently; she understood her
divinely assigned role as “handmaid” in terms of service and
fidelity.” (U.S. Bishops’ pastoral letter, Stewardship: A Disciple’s
Response)

In today’s Gospel Jesus said to his disciples: “I have come to set the
earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing! There is a
baptism with which I must be baptized, and how great is my anguish
until it be accomplished!
Your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will help set the
earth on fire with God’s love.
We will meet Monday, August 22 at 6:30pm at St. Joseph in the
