Belong More Deeply Pertenecer Más Profundamente Heavenly Father, Pour forth your Holy Spirit to inspire me with these words from Holy Scripture. Stir in my soul the desire to renew my faith and deepen my relationship with your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ so that I might truly believe in and live the Good News. Open my heart to hear the Gospel and grant me the confidence to proclaim the Good News to others. Pour out your Spirit, so that I might be strengthened to go forth and witness to the Gospel in my everyday life through my words and actions. In moments of hesitation, remind me: If not me, then who will proclaim the Gospel? If not now, then when will the Gospel be proclaimed? If not the truth of the Gospel, then what shall I proclaim? God, our Father, I pray that through the Holy Spirit I might hear the call of the New Evangelization to deepen my faith, grow in confidence to proclaim the Gospel and boldly witness to the saving grace of your Son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen. Amen. Society of St. Vincent de Paul In this Gospel, Jesus says “Sell your belongings and give alms. Provide money bags for yourselves that do not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in Heaven that no thief can reach nor moth destroy.” We Always seem to want more—more money, more pleasure, more power and it is desiring more that can draw us away from Christ and make us unhappy people. So if we have sufficient food for ourselves, our families and reasonable comfort in our homes, let us be content. As we spare a thought and some money for those who are suffering from poverty, we will be able to redirect our hearts to what is our treasure, Jesus, and then we will be faithful disciples. To all of you who share with us, we say a heartfelt “THANK YOU!” for without your generosity, we would not be able to accomplish as much as we do. Your continued support is appreciated and will help bring respite and hope to your neighbors and you will indeed find “an inexhaustible treasure in Heaven!” Diocese of Rockville Centre Golden Wedding Liturgy “This fall, couples that have been married fifty year or more will be honored at liturgies on Sunday, October 6th at the Church of St. Rose of Lima, Massapequa and on Sunday, November 3rd at the Church of Christ the King in Commack. $35. Misa a las 7:30pm. From Fr. Jack Moore: This weekend we welcome Brother James McKnight, a Marist Brother. He is here through the Mission Cooperative Program. It is an opportunity to learn about various religious communities like the Marists who share their gifts to help enable them to fulfill the mission of the Church to proclaim the Good News of Jesus in their own unique way. We learn of how the Good News is proclaimed in Word and action in various places of the Universal Church. On Saturday of this weekend, the Feast of El Salvador del Mundo will be observed, we will have had Mass, a concert; and Salvadorian food. This feast is the Patron Feast of the country of El Salvador. We celebrate Jesus as the Savior of the World. The capital of El Salvador is San Salvador, or Saint Savior. This Feast would have special meaning on two counts: 1. my parents were married in St. Savior’s Parish almost 80 years ago; and 2. both my sisters and me were baptized there. St. Savior’s Parish is located in Brooklyn. Also of note, one of the four Basilicas in Rome was dedicated to Jesus, Our Savior many centuries ago. In our Parish, Diocese, and universal Church, we have observed this year as the Year of Faith. Our Second Reading today is from the Letter to the Hebrews. Besides presenting what faith is, it gives a number of examples of what it means to live “by faith” using the story of Abraham. Like Abraham we are called to live “by faith.” By such faith we put our trust in God; and that faith, or trust, is meant to be a source of joy and courage as we live out our days Peace be with you, Fr.
