If
anyone has any questions how the church feels about marriage
and its dignity and power, read todays readings. The union of a man
and wife is a sacred institution created by God, and though there are
so many pressures on couples it does not change what God’s greatest
desire is for families. God wants powerful
things like community, faith, love, fidelity,
compassion. These things are what Pope
Francis talked about in Philadelphia for the
World meeting of families. How do we
achieve these things? We start by small acts
of kindness, little ways that we love, a kind voice, and
a gentle soothing spirit. Our starting point may be small but our destination is higher families together around the heavenly banquet table of heaven.

Baby Bottle Drive
Respect Life Ministry will be conducting its annual
“Baby Bottle Drive” in October. Bottles will be
distributed Oct. 4 & collected Oct. 25. Please take a
bottle home and return it filled with coins, bills or
checks. Your donations benefit our local crisis pregnancy centers and the Hope Ultrasound Mobile Unit.
The Fall 40 Days for Life Campaign began Sept. 23
and ends November 1. We invite all parishioners to
join us in peaceful prayer on the sidewalk of the
Planned Parenthood clinic located on the NW
corner Of Galveston and Alma School Roads. St.
Mary’s has committed to cover Tuesdays from 7am
to 7pm. Whether you have 10 minutes or 2 hours
to pray, your presence on the sidewalk is greatly
needed. Many babies have been saved because
someone took the time to come out to pray. For

la fe, el amor, la fidelidad, la compasión. Estas cosas son las que
nuestro Papa Francisco habla en Filadelfia en el Encuentro Mundial
de las familias. ¿Cómo logramos esto? Empezamos por los pequeños
actos de bondad, pequeñas maneras de amar, una voz amable y un
espíritu suave y calmante. Nuestro punto de partida puede ser
