From the Pastor
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Today is the Feast of Divine Mercy!! It is a day to
rejoice in the infinite mercy and love of God and
also a day to present to the Lord our gratitude for
all He has done for us. The chaplet of Divine
Mercy will be prayed after the 9:00 a.m. and 10:30
a.m. Masses as well as after the 12:30 p.m. Spanish
Mass.
Tomorrow, April 4th is the transferred Solemnity
of the Annunciation of the Lord. Our Masses that
day include an 8:30 a.m. English Novus Ordo Mass
followed by a 10:00 a.m. sung Latin Mass. There
will also be a special Mass celebrated by the newly
ordained Archbishop, Peter Wells. He was ordained in Rome and will offer a Mass of thanksgiving at 5:00 p.m. at Holy Family Cathedral to
which everyone is invited.
If anyone would like to take a regular hour of adoration in the Chapel of St. Toribio you can sign the
book in the chapel at the hour you would like to
participate and indicate as you do so that you
would like to commit every week to this same
hour. And then each week be sure to sign in so that
those in charge of assuring that there is always
someone there in adoration will know that you
have committed to that particular hour. If you need
to change your hour please be sure to let the person
in charge of that particular daily hour know that
you are changing. The information regarding who
is in charge of each daily hour is indicated in the
book in the chapel. So far we have had people at
each of the hours day and night. It is a tremendous
blessing to our parish and we are grateful for the
generous service of those who have committed to
be there at their particular hour. Some are coming
every day!! In case of emergency when you know
you will not be able to make your specific hour you
can see if you can find a substitute to take your
place. It is very important, of course, that the
April 3, 2016
Blessed Sacrament , once exposed on the altar is
never left unattended. Once a month we will have a
Mass for all the adorers. The next such Mass will
be April 13th at 7:00 p.m. That also happens to be
the date in 1961 that Bishop Reed officially consecrated the new Church of Sts. Peter and Paul, the
present structure that we are using each day. Let us
pray for Bishop Reed that he may rest in peace and
for all who have died from our parish during the
past sixty years that we have existed as the parish
of Sts. Peter and Paul. we were founded in 1950
and the “new” church was built by 1960 and dedicated on April 13th, 1961.
I hope that everyone will have a good Feast of Divine Mercy today and a wonderful week ahead.
God bless you all,
Father Timothy Davison

Treasures from our tradition
An ancient title for this Sunday is Dominica
in Albis, or “Sunday in White.” During The Easter
Vigil, the newly baptized are invested with a white
garment, a sign that they have put on Christ. At one
time, the garments were worn for a full week of
celebration and reflection, and on this Sunday the
newly baptized would appear in their robes once
again in their new place among the faithful for
Eucharist.
In later centuries, the energy of new life at
Easter was largely forgotten, and this Sunday was
renamed “Quasimodo Sunday” or “Low Sunday.”
In recent years, with the recovery of the insight that
Easter is the privileged time for celebrating and
renewing baptism, there is nothing “Low” about
this Sunday. At a week’s distance, the beauty and
grace of our Easter celebration is sustained by joyful alleluias, the blessing and sprinkling of holy
water, and the comfort of the Lord’s presence to
us. He is risen, and he summons us together, opening up the scriptures for us, breaking the bread, filling us with new life.

a participar.
Padre Timothy Davison

NO TEMAN
ver Cristo victorioso. Pero Cristo lo toca con la
mano derecha y dice: “No temas...estuve muerto y
