esde que el Municipio de Guayaquil concesionó en el 2004 la administración y operación
del aeropuerto a la empresa Terminal Aeroportuaria de Guayaquil S.A. –TAGSA-, los cambios
se dieron a todo nivel. Nuevas y confortables instalaciones con infraestructura y equipos
modernos, así como personal profesional y capacitado, se hicieron presentes para brindar
un servicio de calidad, eficiente y amigable. Hemos recibido varios reconocimientos internacionales por
nuestros servicios. En julio de este año se están inaugurando nuevas instalaciones. La ampliación en más
de 7.000 metros cuadrados de las áreas de preembarque y de arribo nacional de pasajeros, de bodegas y de
oficinas, dos nuevos ascensores panorámicos y tres puentes de embarque de pasajeros (mangas), que se
suman a los siete actuales, nos permitirá atender con mayor confort y calidad a los usuarios.
Todos los días, desde hace diez años, los hombres y mujeres que trabajamos en TAGSA, estamos
comprometidos en el objetivo de ser el mejor aeropuerto del país y uno de los mejores del mundo en la
calidad de servicios que ofrecemos a los pasajeros, usuarios y clientes. Somos una concesión responsable,
solidaria y positiva, que cumple sus obligaciones con la sociedad y el medio ambiente. Buscamos la
excelencia en nuestro trabajo y tratamos a los demás con la cordialidad que queremos ser tratados.

ince 2004, when the Municipality of Guayaquil conferred the concession to manage and
operate the airport to Terminal Aeroportuaria de Guayaquil S.A. – TAGSA changes happened
in every level. New and comfortable facilities with top of the line infrastructure and equipment,
professional and trained personnel, have been available to provide high quality, efficient and
amicable services. We have been honored with several international acknowledgements for our services.
On July 2014, we are opening new facilities. The extension of more than 7.000 square meters of the preboarding and domestic arrivals areas, of warehouses and office space, two new panoramic elevators and
three boarding bridges – to be added to the seven currently in service – will allow us to serve users better
with greater comfort and quality. Every day for the past ten years, men and women working in TAGSA have
been committed to become the best airport in our country and to be among the best ones worldwide for
its high quality services offered to passengers, users and clients. Our concession is responsible, solidary
and positive, in compliance with all its obligations towards the community and the environment. We aim
for excellence in our jobs and we treat other people with the cordiality we expect to receive from others.
Our compromise in the upcoming years is to continue serving with high quality standards and security as
deserved by the people from Guayaquil, from Ecuador and all visitors from the entire world.

Hassan Haji was born upstairs of his grandfather´s restaurant in Bombay.
Circumstances forced his entire family to exile, immigrating to a town in the French
Alps, where famous chef Madame Mallory runs her restaurant. Only one hundred
feet away, the Haji opens a small place of Hindu food that causes a revolution among
the neighbors. As a result, a culinary war starts between the head of the Haji family
with Madame Mallory; and in the middle of this confrontation, young Hassan will find

de dicho país. Se trata de una presentación fantástica de danza
folclórica, saturada del auténtico espíritu georgiano.

THE MOST VIRTUOUS DANCE
The Virtuous Children of the Caucasus is the name of the
mythical group of the ballet of Georgia, formed by
children from 7 to 13 years old dressed with red
suits and traditional hats from such country. It is a
fantastic performance of folkloric dance,
saturated with authentic Gregorian spirit.

Luego del éxito en taquilla en el teatro Koubek
del Miami Dade College, llega a Guayaquil Mitad y
mitad, una cómica historia de dos hermanos que
se disputan una herencia. Una madre con una
embolia, una gripe y muy pocas ganas de morirse; un hijo cercano
a los 50 con una esposa posesiva; el otro llegando a los 40, que la
cuida, la baña, la peina y casi la mata (a la de la embolia); y muchas
necesidades económicas. Ambos hermanos empiezan a idear
maneras de darle un empujoncito a su mamá al más allá. Con Roberto
Manrique y Gabriel Porras.

Mitad arrives to Guayaquil, a
comedy about two brothers
that fight over a estate. A mother with embolism, the flu and very little
desire to die; a son about to be 50 with a possessive wife; the other
one, 40, taking care of her, bathing her, combing her hair and almost
killing her (the one with the embolism); and many financial needs. Both
brothers began to figure out how to send their mother to the other life.

estará en el Puerto Principal para promocionar su más reciente producción discográfica Moenia FM, en la que, según un
comunicado emitido por sus miembros, retoman sus orígenes con un sonido más
electrónico y una fuerte carga emotiva. Muestra de ello es Soy lo peor, uno de los
sencillos promocionales de dicho álbum.

Mexican trio Moenia shall give a recital
in Guayaquil. The band formed by
Alfonso Pichardo (voice), Alejandro
Ortega Midi (synthesizer) and Jorge Soto (keyboard) will be in Guayaquil to
promote their recent album, Moenia FM, in which, as declared in a press release,
they recover their origins with more electronic and emotional sounds. A sample of
that is Soy lo peor, one of the singles of such album.

¿Qué se siente ser guayaquileño y ser alcalde del Puerto
Principal?
Un gran orgullo. Guayaquil es tradición, es presente, es futuro, es
un cambio permanente, es libertad, es altivez, es trabajo y sobre
todo –y esto es un punto que lo recalco siempre- en los últimos
años ha madurado tanto, que dejó de ser parte del problema,
es parte de la solución. Siempre hay excepciones, por supuesto,
pero estamos hablando de la generalidad. Realmente, es muy
agradable representar a un pueblo así, que cada día progresa, que
no pide más de lo que le corresponde, que no cede más de lo que
es justo, y creo que ese camino es irreversible para Guayaquil.
What do you feel by being from Guayaquil and also the
Major of your town?
Huge pride. Guayaquil is tradition, is present, is future, is
permanent change, is freedom, is pride, is work and specially –
and this is something I always mention- in the last few years, it
has grown so much that stopped being part of the problem, to
become a part of the solution. There would always be exceptions,
of course, but we are referring to the generality of it. It is very
pleasant to represent this kind of city, that moves ahead every
day, that do not demand anything more than it is entitled to, that
do not step aside unless for what it is fair, and I believe that this is
a point of no return for Guayaquil.
¿Sobre qué se ha forjado esa madurez y ese camino que
ya es irreversible?
Guayaquil se ha caracterizado por dos cosas fundamentales:
primero, el voluntariado, el cual hay en mayor o menor grado en
todas partes del mundo, pero en esta ciudad es muy especial... es
afán de servir por amor, no por obligación… Podría nombrar a la
Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil y muchísimas organizaciones
más. Y, segundo, el guayaquileño, postergado como ha sido en la
mayoría de los gobiernos, aprendió a resolver sus problemas sin
llorar, reclamando sí, pero sin esperar soluciones de afuera... Un
caso es la salud y se resume con un ejemplo: el primer hospital que
hizo el Gobierno central en Guayaquil fue el Abel Gilbert Pontón
(el del Suburbio). Eso fue en 1971, es decir 141 años después de
que se fundó la República… Que el Gobierno se haya dado cuenta
recién casi siglo y medio después que en la ciudad más poblada
del Ecuador había enfermos es inaudito. Guayaquil analizó las
soluciones y nació la Junta de Beneficencia y sus hospitales. Eso
es lo que ha forjado esta ciudad: amor para servir, compromiso
para servir, capacidad de autoresolver sus problemas.
Where do you find the grounds for such maturity and
for the road already traveled?
Guayaquil is featured by two fundamentals. First, volunteer
labor, which has been present worldwide in different levels,
but that in this city is very special… aim to serve for love, not for
obligation. I may refer to Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil
and many other organizations more. And on the second place,
people from Guayaquil, that has been postponed by most of
central Governments, has learned to solve its own problems

without whining, claiming for his rights of course, but not waiting
for solutions from the outside. One case is found in health care
and it may summarize with one example: the first hospital that
a central Government built in Guayaquil, was the Abel Gilbert
Pontón Hospital (at Suburbio). This was in 1971 so for 141 years
after our country was born as a Republic. It is outrageous that
the central Government realized, almost one century and a half
later that, at the most populated city in Ecuador, people got sick.
Guayaquil analyzed the solutions and Junta de Beneficencia was
born together with its hospitals. That is what has forged our city:
love to serve, commitment to serve, capacity to solve our own
problems.
¿Nacemos los guayaquileños con eso de servir?
Definamos que no es simplemente el guayaquileño de
nacimiento, es el que vive aquí sin importar dónde nació. Alguien
me preguntaba hace unos días: el guayaquileño, ¿nace o se hace?
Y mi respuesta fue ‘se hace’ porque hay gente que ha nacido aquí
y no por eso tiene el mismo espíritu de servicio; y hay personas
que no han nacido aquí y quieren a esta ciudad tanto o más que
los que han nacido aquí. Porque el guayaquileño se hace, pero
eso sí, una vez que se hace guayaquileño, se muere guayaquileño.
Are people from Guayaquil born with such service
vocation?
We must define the Guayaquilean is not only the person born
here, but the one that lives here, not matter his place of birth.
Someone asked me a few days ago: Guayaquileans are born or
raised? My answer was ‘raised’ because there are people that were
born here and not because of that have such service vocation,
and there are people that even though they have not been born
here, they love our town just like or even more those who had.
Because Guayaquileans are raised as such, but have in mind, that
once you are Guayaquilean, you die Guayaquilean.
¿Esto tiene que ver con el “modelo guayaquileño”?
Así es. Un alcalde no solo debe administrar una ciudad. Un alcalde
tiene que interpretar el espíritu de los ciudadanos, sentir sus
anhelos, su forma de vivir, su idiosincrasia. El guayaquileño es
de espíritu libre, emprendedor, cree en el sector privado, no en
el Estado paternalista. Por ello, el modelo que el Municipio ha
implantado es uno de cooperación entre el sector privado, el
Municipio de Guayaquil y la ciudadanía... Un ejemplo de ello es la
concesión del Aeropuerto José Joaquín de Olmedo, cuyo éxito
ha sido reconocido internacionalmente a través de premios

constantes... Tagsa ha cumplido y la inversión realizada no le
ha costado un centavo a la Municipalidad por cuanto todo ha
sido invertido por el concesionario.
Has this anything to do with the “Guayaquilean
model”?
It does. A major does not only manage a city. A major
must construe the spirit of citizens, feel their hopes, their
lifestyle, their idiosyncrasy. Guayaquileans are free spirited,
entrepreneur, they believes in the private sector, not in a
patronizing Government. That is why the model set in by
the Municipality is a structure of cooperation between the
private sector, the Municipality of Guayaquil and the citizens...
An example of that is the concession of José Joaquín de
Olmedo Airport, which success has been internationally
acknowledged by its constant awards... Tagsa has complied
and it has not cost a penny to the Municipality as everything
has been an investment of the concessionaire.

How has José Joaquín de Olmedo Airport influenced in the
image of Guayaquil?
We may all recall the dumpster that our former Simón Bolívar airport
was, with sidewalks that served as beds for donkeys and street dogs
and that flooded during the rainy season,etc... Now our visitors, both
national and foreign, finds an architecturally beautiful terminal, very
comfortable and modern and, as an airport is a window of the city
it belongs to, their impression is completely different than the one
gained before. With the extension, José Joaquín de Olmedo Airport
shall become the biggest one, more modern and with the widest
scope of services in the entire country. It may receive up to seven

Is Tagsa in compliance with the city?
Guayaquil’s airport concession is the best example to show that
delegating certain tasks to the private sector, with adequate controls,
is an excellent option. The concession agreement was drafted upon
the base that the conjunction of private sector and Municipality will
provide the best services that may be possible to passengers from
Guayaquil, Ecuador and the world. Tagsa has made it and every year,
we have recognitions from impartial institutions that through polls
analyze 36 variables of the airport. Indeed, Tagsa is in compliance

starting to be disperse, the sun is still the
same (it rests a few times only in this city),
but during nights and in the early mornings,
a cool breeze proper to this season is
enjoyed. This is the perfect time to go
through this town riding a bike. “Pedaling
by night in Guayaquil is very pleasant and at
such hours, downtown is perfect because
the streets show an optimum condition”,
affirms Blanca Rivera, member of Guayaquil
in a Bike (Guayaquil en Bici, in Spanish),
referring that the night traffic is almost null
in the heart of our city, just like any given
Sunday during daytime hours.
Such association is a community group
that coordinates pedaling rides called
Contemporary Bike Tours in Guayaquil.
“This is not a city tour”, she clarifies.
“Is a ride between friends that want to
rediscover the business town, iconic
buildings, the dynamic and culture of its
people.”

parece dar paso al verano

a hacerse dispersas, el sol sigue siendo
el mismo (pocas veces baja la guardia
en esta ciudad), pero en la noche y en
las primeras horas de la mañana ya se
siente la grata brisa de esta estación. Ha
llegado el tiempo perfecto para recorrer
la metrópoli en bicicleta. “Pedalear de
noche en Guayaquil es lo más agradable
y esa hora es perfecta en el centro de
la ciudad, porque las calles están en
óptimas condiciones”, dice Blanca Rivera
de la organización Guayaquil en Bici
refiriéndose a que el tráfico nocturno es
casi nulo en el corazón de la urbe, al igual
que los domingos durante el día.
Dicha agrupación, que es un colectivo
ciudadano, coordina recorridos a puro
pedal, a los que denominan Bicitour
Contemporáneo por Guayaquil. “Esto
no es un city tour”, aclara. “Es un paseo
de amigos que desean descubrir la urbe
comercial, los edificios emblemáticos, la
dinámica de su gente y su idiosincrasia”.

mejor y diferente a hacerlo en carro”, dice
Jimmy Martillo de la agrupación Ciclistas
de la Calle. “La bicicleta te permite explorar
y descubrir las realidades de los diversos
lugares que visitas. Te da la oportunidad de
percibir los olores, sabores y colores que,
dentro de un automóvil, se pierden entre
el tráfico, el trajín y el estrés de la urbe”,
manifiesta Blanca Rivera.

The May Pyramid, first
monument of the city of Buenos Aires and
the Pink House (Casa Rosada, in Spanish),
home of the President of the Republic,
are located here. The characteristic
color of this place was given in 1875 as
an analogy of the White House of the

lime and bovine blood. From the balcony
of the Pink House, Madonna recorded

Bicentennial Museum, the Metropolitan

fan, visit the subway station of Line A,

Mafalda que encontrará sentada en una

“Como toda ciudad, Buenos Aires tiene un gran circuito turístico;
sin embargo, al haber vivido aquí, ciertos sitios tradicionales,
como San Telmo, La Boca, Puerto Madero, entre otros, ya los
conocía. Algo nuevo que hice fue visitar el Barrio Chino, donde
existen muchos restaurantes y supermercados asiáticos con
gran variedad de alimentos. Asimismo, siguiendo la tradición que
tengo con mi prima Sabrina, fuimos a tomar té -mi hora de comida
favorita- al Hotel Alvear, ubicado a un par de cuadras de mi casa
en el barrio Recoleta. Además, recorrí el Buenos Aires Design, un
centro comercial de tiendas de diseño, con lindas terrazas para
comer viendo la Plaza Francia, destacada por las artesanías de
tejidos, alpaca y plata. A un par de cuadras, en Posadas y Callao,
fui a El Sanjuanino, donde- a mi parecer- venden las mejores
empanadas”.
Culturalmente enamorada
“Fui al Museo Malba. Aparte de ver la colección de arte
latinoamericano del siglo XX, también presencié la exposición
temporal In Your Face de Mario Testino, un panorama completo
de su transgresora y provocativa obra. Visité el Teatro Lola
Membrives y vi el musical Priscila, con la interpretación de Pepe
Cibrián en el rol principal de Bernadette. También estuve en el
Teatro Colón en el estreno mundial de la ópera Réquiem, basada
en la novela Réquiem de William Faulkner. No me perdí del Teatro
San Martín y me deleité con la obra El Jardín de los Cerezos de
Anton Chejov, dirigida por Helena Tritek. Además de la brillante
actuación del elenco, lo que me atrapó fueron las proyecciones
de Eugenio Zanetti. Para aprovechar mis últimos días en Buenos
Aires, asistí a la alfombra roja y al cóctel previo a Corteo, el nuevo
espectáculo del Cirque du Soleil”.

Unforgettable spots
As every city, Buenos Aires has a tourism circuit, however by
having lived there, I already knew certain sites such as San Telmo,
La Boca, Puerto Madero, among others. Something new that
I did was visiting Chinatown, home of many Asian restaurants
and markets, with a great variety of food. Likewise, following a
tradition I have with my counsin Sabrina, we went to have tea –my
favorite time to eat – to Alvear Hotel, located a few blocks from
my home in Recoleta. Also, I toddle around Buenos Aires Design,
a designer stores shopping center with beautiful terraces to grab
a bite while enjoying the views of France Square, famous for its
textile, nickel silver and silver handcrafts. A few blocks from there,
in Posadas and Callao, I went to El Sanjuanino, where I believe the
best Empanadas (Argentinean turnovers) are sold.”
Culturally in love
“I went to Malba Museum and besides enjoying the Latinamerican art collection of the 20th century, I was able to observe
the temporary showcase In Your Face of Mario Testino, a
complete panorama of his transgressed and provocative work.
I also visited Teather Lola Membrives and saw the musical play
Priscila, featuring Pepe Cibrian in the main role of Bernardette.
Also went to Colón Theater, at the world premiere of the opera
Requiem, based on the novel of William Faulkner of the same
name. I did not miss San Martín Theater and was delighted with
The Garden of Wild Cherries of Anton Chejov, directed by Helena
Tritek. Besides the brilliant performance of the crew, I was caught
by the projections of Eugenio Zanetti. To take full advantage of
my last days in Buenos Aires, I went to the red carpet and cocktail
party preview to the show Corteo, of Cirque du Soleil.

comunidades mapuches y al Bosque de
Arrayanes hasta llegar a Hua Hum para
conocer la imponente cascada Chachín…
Los restaurantes de la zona que pude
visitar fueron Don Florencio, una gran
casa esquinera rosada que ofrece el
mejor cordero. Asimismo, Doña Quela es
un sitio antiguo para saborear la mejor
comida gaucha. En el centro de Bariloche,
la chocolatería Rapa Nui es única por su
chocolate caliente, por los blends de té
y por el delicioso postre de chocolate,
avellanas y almendras”.

to climb Chapelco mountain with
some kind of racquets in my feet
to prevent snow for swallowing us.
We also visited Lanín National Park,
made an excursion in Lacar lake and
visited Mapuches communities and
Arrayanes forest until we arrived
Hua Hum to meet the impressive
Chachín waterfall. The restaurants
of the zone that I was able to visit
were Don Florencio, a pink corner
house offering the best lamb. Also,
Doña Quela is an old site to savor
the best Gaucha food. In the center
of Bariloche, chocolate house Rapa
Nui is unique for their hot chocolate,
tea blends and a delicious dessert of
chocolate, almonds and hazelnut.

Just like home
Guayaquileño, de 60 años, cuenta que a la Autoridad
Portuaria llegó gracias a la invitación de Nicolás Romero,
gerente general de la entidad, con quien había trabajado en
Cedegé. “Soy feliz y me siento realizado. Ya estoy un poco
viejo (ríe), pero sigo entusiasta, con mente positiva y juvenil”,
expresa al tiempo que se muestra orgulloso de formar parte
de una de las obras emblemáticas de la transformación que
vive el Puerto Principal. “He tenido otras propuestas laborales
muy interesantes, pero las he rechazado porque aquí tengo
la oportunidad de contribuir, bajo la dirección de nuestro
alcalde, al progreso de la ciudad. Para mí, no solo está la parte
económica, sino también la mística de trabajo”. Ese espíritu y
prolijidad lo ha llevado hasta a poner en riesgo su integridad.
“Cuando construían este aeropuerto, me subía a los andamios
para supervisar en detalle la obra y una vez me caí desde unos
siete metros de altura. Por fortuna, una persona que, de
coincidencia, me acompañó a recorrer la construcción aquel
día, se quedó abajo y fue quien prácticamente me atrapó”,
recuerda.
Félix sostiene que el compromiso de quienes colaboran en
el Aeropuerto de Guayaquil José Joaquín de Olmedo no es
de lograr premios y reconocimientos, como los que año a
año gana esta terminal. Más bien, lo define como brindar el
mejor servicio a los usuarios: “Queremos que se sientan tan
confortables y tan bien atendidos como en casa”.

had worked before in Cedegé. “I am happy and feel fulfilled.

proudly presents himself as part of an iconic work in the
transformation of this main port. “I have had other very
interesting job offers but I have rejected them because here
I enjoy the opportunity to contribute in the progress of our
city, under the leadership of our major. For me, money is not
the only important thing, work mystics is too.” Such spirit
and importance given to details have put him in danger.
“When this airport was under construction, I climbed on the
scaffolds to supervise every detail of it and once I fell down
seven meters. Fortunately, one person that coincidentally
joined me to go through the construction such day, stayed
on the ground and practically caught me”, he remembers.
Félix agrees that commitment of those who work at
Guayaquil’s Airport José Joaquín de Olmedo is not to earn
prizes and acknowledgements as the ones earned by this
terminal year after year. Moreover, he defines it in provide the
best services to users. “We want them to feel comfortable
and well looked after, such as if they were home”.

2006. Su labor se resume en un nombre, supervisor técnico
general, pero sus responsabilidades son grandes y múltiples,
principalmente enfocadas en el área de la ingeniería civil, su
profesión. Está a cargo de la supervisión del plan maestro del
futuro aeropuerto (que estaría listo en el 2024) y es el ojo que
vigila el cumplimiento del contrato de la actual concesión,
entre otras funciones. “Por ejemplo, en estos momentos, soy
el supervisor general de la ampliación del aeropuerto que es
de aproximadamente 7,000 metros cuadrados”.

de sus productos. En estos meses, ni el frío ni el calor, ni el sol ni
la nieve, han sido impedimentos para que fanáticos y curiosos
dejen de lado su ganas de probar o volver a comer un cronut, un
singular postre que fusiona el clásico croissant francés con la
popular donut norteamericana.
Dos meses de trabajo y más de diez recetas fallidas fueron
necesarias para que el chef galo Dominique Ansel encontrara
el punto exacto para su creación: una masa laminada similar a
la del croissant, pero con más capas, que primero es freída en
aceite de semilla de uva, luego laminada en azúcar, rellenada con
crema y cubierta con algún topping que varía de mes a mes. El
primero fue de vainilla y rosa. Así fue como nació este dulce
“híbrido” que, según la página web de su creador, tiene fans en
todo el mundo, “desde Berlín hasta Singapur, convirtiéndolo en
el postre del que más rápidamente se ha hablado en la historia”.

or a little more than a year, number 189 of Spring
street in New York city shows the same scene: a long
line of more than 200 people waiting from 6 AM for
a bakery there to open its doors at 8 AM, just to buy
one of its products. During these months, neither cold or hot
weathers, neither the sun or the snow, have been an impediment
for fans and those who are just curious to leave aside their urges
to taste or eat again a cronut, a singular dessert that merges the
classic french croissant with the popular American donut.
Two months of work and more than 10 failed recipes were
required for french chef Dominique Ansel to find the exact point
for its creation: a laminated dough similar to the one of the
croissant but with more layers, that is first deep fried in grape
seed oil, then laminated in sugar, stuffed with cream and covered
with a topping that varies month by month. The first one was
vanilla and rose. That is how this hybrid sweet was born and,
according the creator’s website, it has fans all over the world,
“from Berlin to Singapore, making it the most virally talked about
dessert item in history”.

Ansel aseguró su éxito a punta de calidad y creatividad. El “boca
a boca” de quienes probaron el producto en sus inicios fue más
que suficiente para que de inmediato empezaran a formarse
largas filas en los exteriores de la pastelería, con tal impacto que
pronto la televisión y los periódicos fueron atraídos por este
singular suceso. Un artículo publicado en el New York Times fue
el detonante para que no solo los neoyorquinos se lanzaran a la
aventura de conseguir su cronut, sino también los turistas de la
Gran Manzana. Quien quiere un cronut tiene que madrugar; por
eso, no es sorpresa que a las seis de la mañana ya haya gente en
la vereda esperando tener la suerte de alcanzar una de las 200
unidades que se preparan a diario. La política de Ansel es clara:
solo esa cantidad para garantizar la calidad. Y cada persona
únicamente puede comprar dos. El francés es tan estricto con
sus normas que en un popular show de televisión matutino, sus
cinco presentadores debieron compartir los únicos dos cronuts
que le vendieron al miembro de la producción del programa
que se acercó desde la madrugada a hacer la compra. Luego,
en su cuenta de Twitter, Ansel agradeció a los conductores y
aclaró que recibieron el mismo trato que los demás, con o sin
credenciales de prensa.

Chef Ansel secured his success only based in quality and
creativity. The word of mouth of those who tasted his product
at the beginning was more than enough to immediately have the
long lines outside the bakery, with such an impact that media
and newspapers were attracted by this peculiar event. An article
published in The New York Times was the trigger for not only
New Yorkers to enter the adventure of getting their cronuts,
but also for tourists of the Big Apple. Those who want a cronut
must wake up really early, as it is not a surprise that at 6 AM there
are people on the sidewalk waiting to be the lucky ones to get
one of the 200 units prepared daily. The politics of Ansel is clear:
only such amount to guaranty quality. And each person may only
purchase two. The french is so strict with its regulations that in
a popular morning TV show, the five hosts had to share the only
two cronuts that were sold to the production team member
who went there at dawn to make the purchase. After, through its
Twitter account, Ansel thanked the hosts and clarified that they
received the same treatment than anyone else, with or without
press credentials.

La inesperada y acelerada popularidad de los cronuts llevó a su
creador a registrar a nivel mundial la marca del producto a solo
un mes de su lanzamiento, lo que no ha sido impedimento para
que hayan surgido imitaciones e innumerables recetas que se
encuentran fácilmente en la red. Así, no es de extrañarse si en
Nueva York se encuentra por ahí con los “doissants”, “croisnuts”
o “crodoughs”, o en Inglaterra halle los “fauxnuts”, una versión
realizada por el ganador de un reality show de cocina. Incluso,
frente a la pastelería de Ansel se venden “bronuts” (brownie y
donut) y “cupconuts” (cupcake y donut).
Pero las imitaciones no son el único problema que enfrentan los
cronuts. Actualmente, hay un mercado negro de los cronuts,
pues hay quienes compran el producto a cinco dólares más
impuestos (precio oficial por unidad) para luego revenderlos en
20 dólares o hasta en 100. Al parecer, y según los expertos, los
cronuts han llegado para quedarse y no serán una simple moda
pasajera, pues no solo son novedosos, de buena calidad y gran
sabor, sino que también marcan tendencia, pues ya se habla de
un nuevo producto inspirado en ellos: los wonuts, mezcla de
waffles y donuts que se hacen en Chicago.

The unexpected and accelerated popularity of the cronuts made
its creator to register worldwide the trademark of the famous
product, only a month after its launching, which has not been an
impediment for the risen of imitations and uncountable recipes
easily found online. Then, it is not strange if around New York
you find “doissants”, “croisnuts” or “crodoughs”, or in England,
the “fauxnuts”, a version made by the winner of a cooking reality
show. Even in front of Ansel’s bakery, “bronuts” (brownies and
donuts) and “cupconuts” (cupcake and donut) are sold.
However, imitations are not the only problem faced by cronuts.
Currently, there is a cronuts black market, as there are people
buying the product at $5 plus taxes (official price per unit) to
afterwards sell it in $20 each or even in $100 each.
It seems according the experts that cronuts are here to stay
and that it would not be only a faddish as those are not only a
novelty, good quality and great flavor, but also a trend, as there
are people already talking about a new product inspired by them:
the wonuts, a mixture of waffles and donuts made in Chicago.

En pieles jóvenes basta con el uso de lociones
hidratantes. Entre los 35 y 40 años de edad,
los sueros deben ser incorporados a la rutina
de cuidados de belleza. Lo recomendado es
utilizar de dos a tres gotas en cada aplicación
en el día y, principalmente, en la noche.
En el caso de los cutis grasos, el serum se puede
utilizar solo en las mañanas gracias a su rápida
absorción. Mientras que en pieles mixtas

de una dosis extra de nutrición, se sugiere
complementar su uso con cremas hidratantes.

ctualmente, los consumidores tecnológicos buscan,
a través de dispositivos portátiles, alcanzar un
bienestar completo que conecte el cuerpo con la
mente. La industria ha desarrollado innovaciones
que monitorean la salud mental y disminuyen el estrés y la
ansiedad de vivir el día a día, lo que ha llevado al surgimiento de la
miquiatría, una tendencia positiva al uso de aplicaciones virtuales
relajantes y saludables para la siquis.
En el mercado ya existen apps y accesorios portátiles, algunos
aún en fase de prueba, cuyo objetivo es alcanzar bienestar
mental. Como ejemplo está uno que promete ser exitoso entre
los jugadores de video: el PIP, un biosensor inalámbrico que
ayuda a reducir el estrés. Gracias a un smartphone conectado vía
bluetooth, el dispositivo transmite la respuesta sensorial de los
dedos, ayudando al jugador a reducir su carga de ansiedad y que
esta no afecte su juego.
También hay unos auriculares inteligentes que con un lector
miden la actividad neurológica del usuario, detectando
emociones y mostrándolas en una pantalla LED detrás de los
audífonos. A través de la aplicación Mico, envían información real
sobre el estado de ánimo para reproducir música acorde con lo
que en ese momento siente quien los utiliza.

through portable devices to reach a complete
wellbeing that connects our body with our
mind. The industry has developed innovations
that monitor mental health and decrease stress and anxiety
of living day by day, which has brought Michiatry, a positive
trend to use virtually relaxing apps, healthy for our mind.
The market already offers apps and portable devices, some
of them still in tryouts phases, which objective is to bring
mental wellbeing. As an example, there is one promising
success among videogame players: PIP, a wireless biosensor
that helps reducing stress. Thanks to a smartphone
connected via Bluetooth, the device transmits the sensorial
response of the fingers, helping the player to reduce his
anxiety burden, to not affect his game.
There are also smart earphones that aided by a reader,
measure the neurological activity of the user, detecting
emotions and showing them in a LED screen behind the
earphones. Through Mico app, they send real information
about the state of mind to play music according the feelings
of the person using them.

L Aeropuerto de Guayaquil José Joaquín de Olmedo ha sido galardonado
nuevamente con el primer lugar en la categoría de Mejor Aeropuerto de
Latinoamérica y el Caribe y con el segundo sitial en el segmento de las de
terminales con capacidad de dos a cinco millones de pasajeros. Este premio fue
otorgado por la ACI (Consejo Internacional de Aeropuertos), entidad que anuncia
anualmente, a nivel mundial, las terminales ganadoras en base a la percepción de los
usuarios sobre los diferentes servicios que se prestan en los predios aeroportuarios.
La terminal aérea del Puerto Principal también ha sido galardonada en los World Airport
Awards, premios que se confieren sobre los resultados de las encuestas realizadas a los
pasajeros de más de 100 nacionalidades en alrededor de 240 aeropuertos del mundo.
La investigación evalúa la experiencia del pasajero en más de 39 servicios que se ofrecen
dentro de las terminales. El Aeropuerto José Joaquín de Olmedo fue reconocido como
el Mejor Aeropuerto Regional de América del Sur. TAGSA administra y opera la terminal
área de Guayaquil, ofreciendo la mejor calidad y seguridad en los servicios que ofrece a
sus visitantes, y eso se traduce en los premios que recibe ininterrumpidamente desde el
año 2007.

he Airport of Guayaquil José Joaquín de Olmedo has been awarded again with
the first place in the category of Best Airport of Latin America and the Caribbean
and with the second place in the segment of terminals with capacity from two to
five million passengers. This award was granted by ACI (Airports Council International),
entity that announces worldwide, annually, the winner terminals based on the perception
of users regarding different services provided in airport facilities.
The air terminal of Guayaquil has also been acknowledged at the World Airport prizes,

De acuerdo al Servicio Nacional de Aduana del Ecuador
(SENAE), hay que tomar en cuenta que:
■ Se prohíbe la importación de celulares a través de couriers,
salas de arribo internacional de pasajeros, pasos fronterizos o
puertos marítimos. Solo se permitirá la entrada del teléfono
celular (usado) de propiedad del viajero y uno nuevo, como
parte de sus efectos personales.
■ Los artículos electrónicos que no pagan impuestos
al ingresar al país (una sola unidad por pasajero) son :
teléfono celular, cámara fotográfica, filmadora, reproductor
portátil de video o sonido, televisor de hasta 22 pulgadas,
computador portátil y de escritorio incluido sus accesorios
(mouse, audífonos, cámara, teclado y scanner), aparato de
proyección y pantalla, binoculares, monitor de computadora
de hasta 22 pulgadas, agenda electrónica o tableta, equipo
de posicionamiento global portátil (GPS), consola para
videojuegos (portátil o no) y calculadora electrónica.
