¿Por qué es más sostenible?
Esta tecnología permite reutilizar en lugar de consumir nuevo caucho (sea sintético o natural) para producir
los nuevos materiales. Y con ello se contribuye a reducir la emisión de CO2. Genera, por ejemplo, un 8%
menos de CO2 por neumático.
HERA Holding y Lehigh Technologies Inc. han creado un acuerdo que les permitirá suministrar el MRP a las
industrias del caucho, plásticos industriales, revestimientos y gran consumo. Entre los principales clientes de
Lehigh se incluyen cinco de las diez compañías más grandes del neumático del mundo. Hasta la fecha, ya se
han producido más de 140 millones de neumáticos gracias a esta tecnología.

HERA and Lehigh Technologies brings
micronized rubber powder
A Spanish waste-to-resource company
- HERA Holding and Lehigh Technologies
Inc., a leading sustainable materials
company, announced a partnership that
will provide micronized rubber powder
(MRP) for the tyre, consumer and
industrial plastics and coatings
industries in Europe. This partnership will
bring MRP to Europe with Hera Holding
adapting its recycling plant in Navarra,
Spain to allow for the production of MRP.
MRPs lower costs, increase the
sustainability profile of end products and
deliver performance without sacrificing
the reliability and performance offered by
traditional raw materials.
HERA seeks international markets to
offer new, green technologies and
innovative waste treatments designed to
respond to the changing trends in green
industrial processes. Through the
partnership Lehigh will work with HERA’s,
Navarra, based subsidiary Indugarbi NFU
to expand the company’s geographic
reach into the important industrial
markets of Europe. The combination of
Lehigh’s technical leadership in
Micronized Rubber Powders with Hera’s
experience in bringing new materials into
industrial supply chains will enable
adoption of the these sustainable
products by a broad range of industries
in Europe.

sustainability targets, said Alan Barton,
CEO of Lehigh Technologies.
Sri Lanka targets $4 bn
rubber exports
Rubber occupies the third position
among highest exported commodities in
Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is moving forward
with an ambitious target of attaining
$4bn rubber exports by 2022.
The 7th largest natural rubber producing
country, Sri Lanka offers many types and
grades of rubber such as RSS, pale crepe,
sole crepe, technically specified rubber and
specialty rubber. Rubber coverage in Sri
Lanka is about 125,000 Hectares of land
and the annual production exceeds
153,000 tonnes. Sri Lanka‘s rubber
products are exported to sophisticated
markets such as Europe and USA and do
not have any problem in adhering to
international standards. Rubber and rubber
products accounted for 10.4% of the total
exports of the country.
As global rubber prices are set to soar,
Sri Lanka is moving to upgrade its rubber
sector and will launch its first national
rubber industry survey in October, which
will survey the industry‘s production,
factories, employee numbers, and labour
issues and will set up lab facilities for
the industry.

Onex close to
buying

Canada’s largest private equity firm Onex Corp, is close to buying German
plastics machinery maker KraussMaffei
Technologies GmbH from Madison
Capital Partners, for around •700 million.
Toronto based Onex clinched the
deal after outbidding a Chinese
machinery group.
KraussMaffei was formed in 1931
through the merger of two competitors
Maffei and Krauss. The Munich-based
company is among the world’s leading
suppliers of machinery and systems
for producing and processing plastics
and rubber.
It develops and manufactures products
in more than 10 production plants and
markets them under the established
product brands KraussMaffei,
KraussMaffei Berstorff and Netstal
through a worldwide, tightly-woven sales
and service network with more than 140
companies and agencies.
I am pleased to announce that we are
launching the first ever national rubber
industry survey next month. We are also
now looking at creating high end rubber
testing lab facilities that the industry
needs. All of this will contribute to Rubber
Masterplan which looks to generate $4
Bn rubber exports by 2022. Apart from
the Rubber Masterplan, my Ministry
itself had already identified rubber as one
of the thrust areas for development.
Therefore the survey findings also will be
used in Asian Development Bank’s City
Cluster Economic Development model
(CCED), announced Rishad Bathiudeen,
Minister of Industry and Commerce of
Sri Lanka.
