I am in Lourdes today and will offer my Mass and prayers for Fathers and your families to Our Lady of Lourdes and Saint Bernadette. This past week was a wonderful week in the Parish as many of our young parishioners with our youth celebrated Vacation Bible School. A very big thank you to all who helped - the artists, the chefs, and the supervisors and chaperones; you helped make it a big success. Again, thank you. Today’s gospel is very encouraging for us. Jesus tells us that no matter what storms are at our doors, if we have faith He tells us not to be afraid but to trust. And eventually in trusting in Jesus the storm will pass by and all will be calm again. The response of the apostles was that they were amazed. They knew that Jesus was very special. Jesus was the only one who could make even a storm obey him. Storms are very strong, but Jesus can even make storms stop. Jesus is the Son of God. This week in honor of the Parish Diamond Jubilee (1956-2016), a gift of another stained glass window will be installed. The theme is a storm - Jesus walking on water, Peter walking on water and Peter crying out in fear, “Lord save me!” The Lord saves Peter and calms the storm. This explains that Peter, as long as he kept his focus and full attention on Jesus, was safe, but when he noticed how stormy the water was he began to sink into it. He called to Jesus for help; Jesus held out His hand and pulled him up to safety. Regina Poirier Faith Formation Cindy Cyman, Coordinator [email protected] There are signup sheets in the Narthex and the St. Joachim Hall for the Diamond Jubilee committees. If you are a worker and wish to help, please sign up. Members of the Parish Pastoral Council will help you with information, especially as you see them in Coffee and Donuts. Michelle Melendez Youth Ministry As of this weekend, from now through August 16th the Parish Office will be closed on Sunday mornings, and on Fridays until after Labor Day. From Today’s Gospel: A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was already filling up. Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion. They woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” He woke up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Quiet! Be still!” The wind ceased and there was a great calm. Then he asked them, “Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?” Too busy to join a ministry? Not sure about working with other people? Uncertain if this is your calling? Have a little faith…Jesus will do the rest. Coffee & Donuts Donuts, coffee, and a li1le conversa?on...what could be be1er than that? Serve all three aJer the 8 and/or 10 AM Sunday Masses. In the first half of FY 2015, your generosity has helped to enable St. Anne Conference to assist 81 individuals and 115 families for a total of 444 people. The chart below indicates the assistance breakdown. As of the end of March 2015, $21,145 had been given to help those in need in our community. On average for the past 5 years, the St. Anne Conference has been able to disburse more than $45,200 annually and assist nearly 300 families per year. Last year showed an increase as $47,300 went to aid 284 families, with substantial assistance in 130 cases. The focus is often on keeping the family whole and in place. It is highly traumatic for children when the lights go out, the water stops, or the family has to leave their home. If you like dealing with people, please consider volunteering by calling 813-645-0304. Stay tuned for more information on St. Vincent de Paul in next week’s bulletin. Parish Diamond Jubilee Directory Volunteers Needed If you would like to help with the Diamond Jubilee Directory, please contact Linda in the Parish Office. SPIRITUALLY ADOPTED BABY Progress Report Thank you for praying for me. I’m three months old now - we are at the end of the first trimester! I’m about 3 inches long and I weigh one ounce. That’s not much, but I’m fully formed and becoming very active in the womb now, even though my mother can’t feel me yet. Your spiritually-adopted baby is able to squint, swallow, move its tongue, make a tight fist when you touch its palm, and can even suck its thumb.
