Knights of Columbus,
Hollywood Council 2406 will be conducting a
membership drive on Columbus Day Weekend,
October 12 and 13.
The Knights of Columbus is a 130 - year old
national (actually international) Catholic men's
organization, founded on the principles of charity,
unity, fraternity and patriotism. The Knights cosponsored the inspiring Guadalupe celebration at the
Los Angeles Coliseum last year. Fourth Degree
Knights provide some of the pageantry for Catholic
evens such as the San Gennaro Festival, the Divine
Mercy Congress and the Grand Marian Procession.
Membership in the Knights is open to Catholic men
of good standing. Interested parishioners are

What is Stewardship? What does Jesus say about Stewardship?
The lack of spiritual formation and growth of faith produces a decreasing desire to be
faithful stewards of what God gives us. The more mature a person becomes in the
ways of God, in their spiritual formation, with the word, and partaking of the sacraments, the greater the sense to conform to Biblical principles, the greater the desire to
give in cheerfulness.
The formation and growth of faith produces a firm desire in a Christian to develop a strong sense of gratitude
for the Grace flowing within them. How many of us are spending time with the Lord on a daily basis. With all of
the activities in our life, we are finding that Christians spend less than 1/2 a hour in prayer a day, rarely read
scripture, and exhibit the fruit of the spirit in their daily walk less and less. We reason that giving and stewardship come from personal feelings and experiences and not from Biblical precepts. Research indicates that there
is a wall of the will that separates ones beliefs to ones wallet or purse. It appears that it takes a supernatural act
of God directly into one’s life to convince us. Whereas, the Holy Scriptures call for us to give in response to our
gratitude of what Christ has done for us. It really comes down to our spiritual formation. Do
we really believe the Lord has Blessed us or do we believe we have just been lucky? Does
God’s grace and love give the average Christian the ability to give and share according to what
he has given them? The end results of such thinking, is a clear refusal to go to the Scriptures
for ourselves because decide to trust in someone else to hear from God on our behalf..The act
of Christian stewardship should be more of a delight than drudgery.

THE WORD OF GOD UNCHAINED
There is no chaining the word of God! But how many
times do we attempt to do that very thing? Had the
followers of Jesus or the teachers of the law or the
Pharisees been asked if the lepers should be cleansed or
healed, the answer would most likely have been, “No,
they deserve their condition.”
The lepers would have been, perhaps, a mixed group,
Galileans and Samaritans alike, the bond of their awful
disease overcoming the pettiness of former religious
bickering. Jesus’ actions once again illustrate his
vocation and ours: to reach out when healing is needed,
to challenge when conversion is needed, to console when
comfort is needed. He also follows his own advice from
last week’s Gospel: do what you have been commanded
to do. When the cleansed Samaritan has returned to give
thanks, Jesus does not take it as an opportunity for selfaggrandizement, but rather offers insight into faith.

señal de Su amor y nos da mas consuelo que nuestras
ideas o planes. A lo mejor, nosotros como Cristianos
queremos dar o servir, pero en realidad sabemos como?
Tenemos el deseo pero lo hacemos a un lado.
Somos mayordomos temporales del tiempo, talento, y
tesoro de Dios. Que hacemos con estos regalos? Son solo
para nosotros, son para dar, o para compartir con otros?
Como mayordomos temporales, porque no vemos el
placer que es dando y disfrutar de los beneficios que
vienen con ayudar construir el cuerpo de Cristo.
