I want to share with you that since I
began to understand some English lyric songs
listening them on radio I have felt happy to
follow the metaphors in that poems, like in
my native tongue. Like this one [Alanis
Morissette - Hand In My Pocket]: I'm
broke but I'm happy, I'm poor but I'm
kind. I'm short but I'm healthy, I'm high
but I'm grounded, I'm sane but I'm
overwhelmed. I'm lost
but I'm hopeful, baby.
What it all comes down
to is that everything's
gonna be fine, fine,
fine. 'Cause I've got
one hand in my pocket,
and the other one is
giving a high five.
In our faith in Jesus,
He knows what is in our
heart, in our mind, in our pocket. and He
says, My High-Five is my blessing for you.
I like to greet people wherever I go,
although I am bad memorizing some names.
Jesus the Son of God knows our names,
because he knows what is in our hearts. He is
the Good Shepherd, the Good Friend that
never fails. In Acts 11:26 it is said that in
Antioch the disciples of the Christ were
called Christians, name given by others. We
call ourselves (then and now) brothers and
sisters.
However Jesus says [Jn.13:35], “This is
how all will know that you are my
disciples, if YOU HAVE LOVE FOR ONE
ANOTHER.” ><> May our heart is giving
a high five to our brothers and sisters. <><
Como [Alanis Morissette Hand In My Pocket]: Estoy roto, pero feliz.
Soy pobre, pero amable. Bajito, pero
sano. Con subidón, pero pisando el suelo.
En mi sano juicio, pero sobrecargado.
Perdido, pero
esperanzado. Cuando
todo se viene abajo es
que todo va a ir bien,
bien, bien. Porque
tengo una mano en el
bolsillo, y la otra está
chocando los cinco.
En nuestra fe en
Jesús, Él sabe qué hay en
nuestro corazón, en nuestra
mente, y en nuestro bolsillo. Y Él nos dice, que
“Chocando los cinco os doy mi bendición.”
A mí me gusta saludar a la gente
dondequiera que vaya, aunque sea malo
memorizando nombres.
Nosotros
nos llamamos (entonces y ahora) hermanos y
hermanas.
Así y todo Jesús dice [Jn.13:35], “En esto
conocerán todos que sois mis discípulos, si
SE AMAN UNOS A OTROS.” ><> Que
nuestro corazón esté “chocando los cinco” a
nuestros hermanos y hermanas. <><

Monday:
TRUE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY
Can you imagine a world such as the one put before
us in today’s scripture readings? Communities of
believers everywhere would support and encourage one
another and be identified as Christians by the way they
love each other. It would be a world with no tears, no
death and mourning, no crying out in pain. “Behold, I
make all things new,” we hear the Son of God say in
the second reading from the book of Revelation (21:5).
Is this world of John’s vision only imaginary? Are
these faithful followers for whom Jesus prayed only a
savior’s dream? Today they are put before us as a
worthy goal. How much closer can we come to this
vision of a true Christian community in our lives today?

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION
The French Revolution swept the church in France away in an astonishing way, stripping the nation of every
possible vestige of the faith, not merely shuttering churches, but using them as staging areas for pagan raves and
romps. While millions of faithful simply went underground and hung on for the ride, even the seven-day week was
demolished along with the names of the months. What emerged from the chaos was the Napoleonic Code of 1792
governing church life, and therefore marriage law in France, French Canada, and elsewhere. The code makes civil
marriage mandatory for all citizens.
In practice, when the faithful marry, they go first to the City Hall. There, the mayor performs the civil marriage,
usually accompanied by a patriotic speech about the duties of the citizen, particularly in the rearing of children.
Then, typically after a lunch, everyone goes off to change into more festive attire for the wedding liturgy, featuring
consent, the exchange of rings, and the nuptial blessing. Sadly, only a minority of citizens today celebrate even the
civil form of the rite, and a fraction of those continue on to the church. For those who do celebrate the liturgy of
marriage, however, there is near certainty that the spouses are active worshipers, and that they will later present
their children for baptism.

Lunes:
VERDADERA COMUNIDAD CRISTIANA

Cyber-Bullying: Protecting Young People from Technology Dangers Part II
Excerpts from Virtus bulletin by Robert Hugh Farley, M.S.
What can you do? A caring adult should always refrain from the knee jerk reaction of immediately
banning a victim’s access to instant messaging, e-mail, social networking sites, a cell phone, or the
Internet. This strategy neither addresses the underlying conflict, nor does it eliminate current or future
instances of cyber-bullying victimization. It also punishes the victim and not the offender. I may also
close the open lines of communication that a parent has with their child. (Rather) talk with your children
and encourage them to be cautious opening any emails unless they are familiar with the sender… If your
child receives …message that is hurtful…tell them to never respond to it. Responding…frequently only
causes the bullying to escalate. (Instead it should be saved and tell a trusted adult.) If a child feels
threatened with harm, the police should be notified immediately.
