SEEING THROUGH
VER LA PRESENCIA DE DIOS
Today's readings invite us to look more deeply, to catch a
glimpse of Divine Reality hidden within the
“stuff” of life. God challenged the elderly
Abram and his wife to leave home for a land
that God would show them. Their eyes would
see the land, but only God could “show” it as
a divine gift. Paul reminded Timothy that
God’s grace had always been available, but in
Jesus Christ was made “manifest.”
Las lecturas de hoy nos invitan a mirar más profundamente para
poder dar un vistazo a la realidad divina encerrada
en “las cosas” ordinarias de la vida. Dios retó al anciano Abram y a su esposa a que dejaran su casa
para ir “a la tierra que te mostraré”. Sus ojos verían
la tierra, pero sólo Dios “podía” mostrarla como un
don divino. Pablo recordó a Timoteo que la gracia
de Dios siempre ha estado a nuestra disposición,
pero que en Jesús se “manifestó”.
Jesus called Peter, James, and John up the
mountain and was “transfigured” for a moment, the radiance of God shining through.
Then, just as abruptly, the three looked up . . . and saw
only Jesus.
Jesús invitó a Pedro, Santiago y Juan para que
subieran al cerro y allí se “transfiguró” por un momento, y el resplandor de Dios brilló a través de él.
Luego, con la misma rapidez, los tres miraron. . . y sólo vieron a
Jesús.
During Lent we’re invited to “see through” to God’s presence in the stuff of life: prowling the supermarket, waiting
in traffic, arguing with the kids, cleaning the bathtub. We
wouldn’t really have to “do” anything, if we could only
glimpse divine love supporting us, holding us together.
Durante la Cuaresma se nos invita a “mirar más allá” para ver
la presencia de Dios en las cosas ordinarias: ambulando por el
supermercado, esperando en el tráfico, discutiendo con los hijos,
limpiando la bañera. No tendríamos que “hacer” nada más si pudiéramos divisar el amor divino que nos apoya y nos sostiene.

Fasting and Abstaining in Lent

The Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence. Good Friday is a day of both fast and abstinence.
The law of abstinence obliges those 14
years of age and older not to eat meat. The
law of fasting obliges all those from ages
18 through 59 to refrain from eating between
meals and to limit their eating to one full meal and two
lighter meals for the day.
Los Viernes de Cuaresma son días de abstinencia. El viernes Santo
es un día de ayuno y abstinencia.
Abstinencia significant que no podemos comer carne en
esos días si tenemos 14 años en adelante. Ayuno significa

Centering Prayer is a method of contemplative prayer and meditation that seeks to establish a connection with God through interior
silence, and to maintain the connection by consenting to God’s
presence and action during the time of prayer. Ideally, the prayer
will reach a point where participants become detached from their
thoughts and attain stream of consciousness.
La Oración Central es un método de oración contemplativa y
meditación, que busca establecer una conexión con Dios a través

Las diversas organizaciones y grupos de la parroquia están
realizando una o más de las Obras de Misericordia Corporales
o Espirituales. Esta mañana de reflexión está diseñada para
proporcionar a todos los feligreses la oportunidad de reunirse
y reflexionar sobre estos actos con el fin de afirmar, inspirar
y promover nuestra vida en Cristo. Las sesiones serán
bilingües, y se aceptarán donativos voluntarios para cubrir
los costos. Se les pide a los feligreses que planeen asistir, se
inscriban después de las Misas o en la Oficina Parroquial
durante la semana, para que la Comunidad de Justicia, Paz e
Integridad de la Creación (JPIC), pueda preparar materiales
y alimentos suficientes.
Liturgy of the Word for Children
Liturgy of the Word for Children is for all the children of our
community and visitors between six and twelve years old who attend
either the 10 AM (English) or 1 PM (Spanish) Mass. The children leave
the Sunday assembly, gathering to hear the Liturgy of the Word and
to learn about the rite (Readings, Gospel, Reflection, and Prayer of the
Faithful) in a separate environment. This allows them to become
engaged at a level more appropriate to their understanding and to
nourish their faith experience. Parents are welcome!
The Liturgy of the Word for Children is currently scheduled on the fourth Sunday of the
month through the month of May at which time it will be determined if we should expand
to additional Sundays during the month.

Liturgia de la Palabra para Niños
La Liturgia de la Palabra para Niños es para todos los niños de nuestra comunidad,
y visitantes, que estén entre los seis y doce años de edad, y que se encuentren en la
Misa de 10 AM (Inglés) o de 1 PM (Español). En esta actividad, los niños salen de la
asamblea dominical para escuchar la Liturgia de la Palabra y para aprender más
sobre el rito litúrgico (Lecturas, Evangelio, Reflexión y Oración de los Fieles) en un
ambiente separado. Esto les permite involucrarse en un nivel más apropiado a su
edad y comprensión a fin de nutrir su experiencia de fe. ¡Los padres de familia son
bienvenidos a acompañar a sus hijos e hijas!
La Liturgia de la Palabra para Niños se lleva a cabo el cuarto domingo de cada
mes, hasta el mes de Mayo, es en este momento en donde determinaremos si
debemos ampliar el número de domingos durante el mes.

Needs Volunteer Transcribers
The Tribunal for the Diocese of Tucson is seeking
volunteers who can transcribe depositions that
parties seeking an annulment and their witnesses
have given through an interview at the Tribunal
Office. Needed is a person or persons who can
transcribe in English. Some of the depositions are in Spanish,
therefore a person who can transcribe in both languages
would be most helpful. For further information, please contact
