present a practical and effective service to help promote and strengthen the growth of our Catholic faith. The Lighthouse Media Kiosk offers a broad selection of
Catholic teaching from well-known authors and personalities that will enhance your knowledge and understanding of our Catholic religion. We all live busy lives and finding the time to learn more about our faith can
be a challenge but now we are able to meet you where you are! Wherever you have a CD player available to
you, in your car or at home, you can now deepen your understanding and love for our Catholic faith. At the
main church entrance you will see our new Lighthouse Catholic Media Kiosk containing its initial selection of
CDs and brochures. We welcome and encourage you to take an advantage of this wonderful gift sent by
God. The kiosk will operate on an honor system such that media, brochures and books will have an attached
cost label on them and the purchaser will pay for items by placing their money into the drop-box which is built
into the ushers room door. Media will be replenished regularly. Prepare Your Heart.

The Scripture Study group will be examining the Infancy
Narratives of Jesus in a four week course starting at 7 pm
on June 3 in the PAC. All are invited to attend and no previous bible study experience is necessary. The suggested
donation is $15. You can contact Jim Miller at 408-3775070 for more information.
Counseling Available at St. Lucy’s
Because Fr. Kevin is the only priest available during the
week until the end of June, he has asked a retired priest,
Fr. Joe Gordon to be available on Tuesdays. A retired
counselor is also available for counseling on Saturday
mornings. If you would like to make an appointment with
either, you may call the Parish Office.

LEADERSHIP NIGHT
May 23, 2013 – Parish Activity Center
Each month, St. Lucy’s five leadership commissions – Worship, Community, Formation, Outreach
and Administration – meet for a “Leadership Night” to pray, plan and serve the community of St.
Lucy’s Parish.
COMMISSION UPDATES:
ADMINISTRATION COMMISSION:
- Safety Review Completed and Being Implemented: The parish and school are currently getting bids
for replacing existing outdoor lights and adding new lighting, and installing a new gate for the school.
- Considering New School/Church Intercom System to facilitate communication in an emergency.
COMMUNITY LIFE COMMISSION:
- New Goals for the Volunteer Coordinating Committee: 1) Leading the 2013 Ministry Mingle this fall;
2) creating a volunteer database; 3) creating a web-based tool to sign up for ministries; and 4) highlighting
2-3 ministries per year.
- The Parish Picnic is a Go! Mark your calendars for Saturday, Sept. 7 from roughly 11am-3pm at John
D. Morgan Park. This will be an all-hands-on-deck affair! More info to come!
FORMATION COMMITTEE:
- Plans for Family-Centered Catechesis are in Full Swing: Details remain in development, but are expected to include five family retreats over the course of the year: 3 in English and 2 in Spanish.
OUTREACH COMMISSION:
- We Need Prayers! The Prayer Chain Program will be moving forward this summer, with an organizing
meeting to take place in June. Watch the bulletin for more information.
- Refugee Support Ministry: The core support team is planning a summer tutoring effort for the children
of our adopted refugee family, with a focus on language skills. Volunteers are welcome!
WORSHIP COMMISSION:
- “Rediscovering the Purpose-Driven Ministry”: This is our new theme for spiritual formation and enrichment, which will focus on the inspiration that leads each of us to ministry and sustains us in it.
- A New Vision for the 6pm Mass is in the Offing: A subcommittee will be meeting in June to begin developing a liturgical vision to engage more youth at 6pm.
PARISH COUNCIL MEETING: KEY POINTS OF DISCUSSION
- Family-centered catechesis: The May 11th Parish Town Hall on the Strong Catholic Families program
led to important clarifications about this initiative: that it will build on, rather than replace, existing programs, providing new and deepened formation opportunities for the entire parish, rather than solely for
children.
- Tentative Dates Sent for Upcoming Activities: Parish “Happy Survey” (Sep. 7-8); Membership Drive
(Sep. 14-15 & Mar. 22-3); Stewardship “little book” distribution (Sep. 28-9); Ministry Mingle (Oct. 19); Parish Financial Status Report (Oct. 26-7); Call to Tithe (Nov. 2-3 and 9-10).
- Use of Screens in Mass: The Parish will be gathering a committee to develop guidelines for the use of
the large video screens for the liturgy and by ministries.
- Parish Plans/Budget for FY 2013-14: Slated to be approved at the June Parish Council meeting.
NOCHE DE LIDERAZGO DEL PAR
23 de mayo, 2013 – Centro de Actividades de la Parroquia
Cada mes, cinco comisiones de liderazgo - Adoración, Comunidad, Formación, Alcance y Administración –
se reúnen en una "Noche de Liderazgo" para orar, planear y servir a la comunidad de la Parroquia de Santa
Lucía.
COMISIÓN DE ADMINISTRACIÓN:
- La Revisión de la Seguridad esta Completa y en ejecución: La parroquia y la escuela están recibiendo presupuestos para la sustitución de las existentes luces exteriores, para añadir una nueva iluminación
y la instalación de una nueva puerta para la escuela.
- Sistema de intercomunicación entre la Escuela / Iglesia para facilitar la comunicación en caso de
emergencia.
COMISION DE LA COMUNIDAD:
- Nuevas Metas para el Comité Coordinador de Voluntarios: 1) organizar el “Ministry Mingle” 2013
este otoño, 2) la creación de una base de datos de voluntarios, y 3) la creación de una herramienta basada en el web para inscribirse con los ministerios, y 4) destacar a 2-3 ministerios por año .
- El Picnic Parroquial esta planeado: Marquen sus calendarios para el Sábado, 7 de septiembre a partir
de más o menos 11AM a las 3PM en John D. Morgan Park. Este será un evento en el que todos tomamos parte. Habrá más información.
COMISIÓN DE FORMACIÓN:
- Los planes para crear formación de catequesis centrada en la familia están en plena marcha: detalles permanecen en el desarrollo, pero se espera cinco retiros familiares a lo largo del año: 3 en Inglés y
2 en español.
COMISIÓN DE ALCANCE:
- Tenemos que orar! El Programa de Cadena de Oración sigue adelante este verano, con una reunión
de plantación que se llévela acabo en junio. Vea el boletín para obtener más información.
- Ministerio de Ayuda a los Refugiados: El equipo núcleo está planeando un esfuerzo de tutoría de verano para los niños de nuestra familia adoptada de refugiados, con enfoque en las habilidades lingüísticas. Necesitamos voluntarios!
