NEW TO THE PARISH?
You are invited to join the parish community at our People of
Faith gatherings. We gather once a month after the 10:00am
and the 4:00pm liturgies for a meal, an intergenerational
opening experience of prayer and an in-depth learning session
that follows with break-out sessions for nursery, preschool and
kindergarten, 1st – 5th grade, youth group and adults. Our theme
this year is Responding in Prayer. To register or for more
information, visit us on the web at olmc.org or call Christa in
the parish office at 595-0385 ext. 119.
CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD
is celebrated at the 10:00am and the
4:00pm liturgies. Children ages
4yrs to 8 yrs. are invited to gather in
the Daily Mass Chapel during the
liturgy to listen to and participate in
the Liturgy of the Word in a way that is relevant to their young
lives. They return to their family before the celebration of the
Eucharist. No registration is necessary.
PEOPLE OF FAITH CHILDREN meets this
Sunday, January 15th, at St. Michael
Hall from 8:45-9:45am. Children
4 years old through 5th grade are
invited to participate. If you
registered for People of Faith, you
are already registered for POF
Children. Children will gather with
a catechist and same aged peers.
Adult Book Study continues…
We will gather to discuss Raising Faith-Filled Kids written by
Tom McGrath, family faith expert, this Sunday, January 15, at
St. Michael Hall. We meet while the children attend People of
Faith Children. In the book, McGrath offers a generous
collection of easy tips and tools to help Catholic families realize
a spiritual path, and to help parents inspire virtue, discipline,
and hope in their children. Books are still available in the Parish
Store. We will discuss chapters seven, eight and nine;
newcomers are invited to join us!

and activities. As per Diocesan requirements, we are required to
have at least 2 caregivers present in the nursery at all times. In
addition the volunteers must complete the 3 hour VIRTUS training (go to virtusonline.org to register). Please

Virtue of the Month for January: Fidelity
Throughout the month of January we’ll be cultivating the virtue of fidelity.
Fidelity is the virtue that enables us to be faithful to our commitments and to our promises.
Commitments and promises are different from duties and other obligations
in the sense that these are an agreement between persons.
Keeping promises and commitments is something that is outright challenged in our culture today.
We can encourage this virtue in our children in small ways –
ensuring they attend Mass weekly (fulfilling their baptismal promises),
complete their homework, attend their sporting events to which they are committed,
attend parties of invitations they accepted, etc.
So often, an enticing offer emerges which makes us want to backslide on our commitments.
Fidelity in small things supports fidelity in the bigger things.
Because we are free to make commitments, we will be held responsible for fulfilling,
and we will be rewarded for persevering in them.
