EIGHTEETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Dear Parishioners,
Peace and blessings!
Next Sunday we will have an open
house at our new “Cenacle,”
718 Oakland St., the old Ave Maria
Resource Center. The open house
will be from 2:00 to 4:00. This new
facility will house many of our
ministries that focus on prayer or
one-on-one counseling and spiritual direction.
Remember to mark your calendar for
August 10 when Grace Lutheran Church will join us
for a pot luck dinner followed by a tour of our church.
The following week, August 17th, we with gather the
same time, 6:30, at Grace Lutheran Church. All are
invited to attend one or both of these gatherings.
Grace Lutheran is at the corner of Blythe and Rt. 64.

OPEN
HOUSE
SUNDAY,
AUGUST 7TH: There will be an “Open House” at the
Cenacle, 718 Oakland Street, on Sunday, August 7th
from 2-4 pm. The building will be utilized for Parish
Ministries such as Spiritual Direction, Individual or
Family Counseling, Healing Prayer, Unbound Prayer,
Small Group Prayer Sessions and Called & Gifted
Interviews. The Cenacle is primarily a “House of
Prayer” for all who come. All in the parish who are
interested in or will be utilizing the building are invited
to attend. There will be tours and review of guidelines
for use of the building. There will also be the
opportunity for making a possible appointment. Any

LUTHERAN
COVENANT:
We have recently signed a covenant with our brothers
and sisters at Grace Lutheran church. As we try to
learn more about each other, one of our first activities
will be to share a meal together and take a tour of each
other’s churches. On Wednesday evening, August 10th
at 5:30pm, we will host a potluck dinner and Fr Martin
will lead a tour of Immaculate Conception. On
Wednesday evening, August 17th, Grace Lutheran will
host us for a dinner & a tour. Please join us in the
St Francis room at 5:30pm on August 10th and bring a
dish for your family and to share with a “picnic”

The Portiuncula Indulgence
(The Pardon Prayer of Saint Francis):
The conditions to obtain the Plenary Indulgence of
the Forgiveness of Assisi is (for oneself or for a
departed soul) is as follows: Sacramental Confession
to be in God’s grace (during eight days before or
after.) … Participation in the Holy Mass and Eucharist
… Recitation of The Apostles Creed, Our Father and
also a prayer for the Pope’s Intention (such as an Our
Father, Hail Mary, etc.). Mark your calendar for the
Feast of Our Lady of the Angels beginning at Vespers
(Noon) on the First of August to August 2nd at
Midnight.
St. Francis said, “Holy Father, if it please your
Holiness, my wish is that, because of the great things
which God has done in this place, all those who shall
come here with lowly and contrite hearts shall have
remission of all their sins, and that there shall be no
dispute about this.” And the pope said, “I grant you
that is shall be so.” And now the privilege extends
beyond the Portiuncula to churches throughout the
world.
The Portiuncula is a small church located within
the Papal Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels in Assisi.
It is the place from where the Franciscan movement
started. This year marks the 800th anniversary of the
granting of this indulgence.

Feast of the Assumption of
Mary. It is NOT a Holy Day
of Obligation. When this
feast falls on a Saturday or
Monday, the obligation of a
holy day is dispensed. We will follow our regular
Mass schedule. The Church Office will be closed.

“CATHOLIC
PRESENCE”
VOLUNTEERS
NEEDED:
Immaculate Conception Parish is joining with
St. Barnabas again this year to bring a Catholic
Presence to the Mountain State Fair, September 9 – 18,
at the Ag Center near the airport. The purpose of the
booth is to reach out to the community to share the
Good News of Jesus Christ and to answer questions
and dispel myths about the Catholic Church. We need
volunteers to help staff the booth during the Fair.
Being an active Catholic knowledgeable about our
faith, a good listener and a people person are the
predominate attributes that will make our booth a
success. Fair passes will be provided to volunteers,
which will cover admission to the Fairgrounds each

MAINTENANCE FUND: Next weekend is the time
for the monthly Yellow Envelope offering for Church
Improvements and School Modernization. This
offering is important for major maintenance and
replacements, and for keeping our facilities in good
working condition. Please place your envelope in the
offertory basket next weekend. Thank you in advance.
IMMACULATA SCHOOL BULLETIN BOARD:
Be sure to stop by and see our Immaculata School
bulletin board in the vestibule of the Church. Our
ICS students have illustrated their interpretation of
our Catholic Virtue of Hope. These symbols are
based on the Bible verse, “It is you, O Lord, who
are my hope” Psalm 71, as well as how practicing
“hope” helps us to meet our Immaculata Catholic
School expectations.
GARDENING MINISTRY: We are in
need of volunteers to keep up all of the
landscaping around the church weeding,
watering,
mulching,
trimming, planting seasonal flowers and
plants, etc. Help keep our grounds

ATTENTION GROCERY CARD SELLERS
In order to comply with new Diocesan regulations,
there will be a MANDATORY training session at the
end of August for all current and potential grocery
card sellers. The time, date and place are to be

GODSPELL AT BREVARD LITTLE THEATER:
The musical Godspell will be performed at the Brevard
Little Theater at 55 East Jordan Street in Brevard on

July 31st & August 7th at 3pm. This hit musical is
based on the gospel of St. Matthew. You may purchase

Agudas Israel Congregation is presenting its
second Mountain Jewish Festival on Sunday,

church microphones directly to your

MINISTRIES FOR ADDICTIONS: Substance
abuse has become a major problem in Hendersonville!
It effects our parishioners. They either have an
addiction, know someone who is addicted, or have a
family member who is suffering from this terrible
disease. There is no shame in being an addict or having
someone close to you who is addicted. The only shame
is doing nothing about it. For more information
contact Raymond Messina at 551-7404. We have
meetings the first and third Mondays for family
members and friends. (Teens welcome) The second
and fourth Mondays are for substance abusers. All
meetings are from 7-8pm in the downstairs conference
room. All discussions are strictly CONFIDENTIAL.

LIFE TEEN High School Youth Ministry
All High school teens are invited to join us Sunday evenings for our youth ministry nights. Join
us for Mass in the Main Church from 5-6pm each week. We are no longer meeting Sunday
evenings during the summer for our Life Nights. We will have other activities/gatherings going
on throughout the summer. Please keep watch of the bulletin for announcements. +
After a beautiful anointed weekend in Atlanta, GA, I’d like to share with you the teens’
experiences, but in their own words, continuation from last week...
Hopefully you have read thru the past 2 weeks of bulletins containing the teens’
personal experiences at Steubenville. It was a powerful weekend with incredible
speakers and break-out sessions for the teens to attend. We also were blessed to have priests available
for Confession, celebrate Mass each day, and lead us in Eucharistic Adoration each day. Please
continue to pray for our teens as they engage in life back home, and bring with them the TRUTH of
Christ into every area of their life. Thank you for your constant support and love for our young people!

EDGE & Life Teen Small Group Leaders are needed to help walk with teens & youth in their journeys of
faith. All have a Baptismal call to serve the Lord and His Church in some capacity. Pray, discern, is the Lord
calling you to serve Him in His Youth?!
- EDGE & Life Teen SGL meet weekly over the summer to pray together, share faith journeys together and talk
about the ministries (what is the Lord calling us to do, how to better serve, meet the needs of the youth/teens)
- We meet Wednesdays, 7-8:30pm in meeting room #1 in the church office area. We will continue to meet for
most of August. Even if you haven't made it yet to a summer gathering, come this week! It is a blessed time.

BOARD FUNDRAISER COMING
Beginning next weekend, August 6/7, and continuing through the month of August, we will have our YOUTH MINISTRY Board up at the
main entrance to the church. It is our main fundraiser for this year. It is very simple. We will have envelopes with numbers on them and I
invite you to come choose 1 envelope, or 2 or 3 or 4, and then put in the envelope the amount that is written on the envelope. It is an
easy fundraiser. We have 2 big trips in the works for next summer - Mission Trip to Haiti for older teens, and Summer Camp for EDGE
youth. Please stop by our board to see more. I look forward to continuing this journey together with you, our supportive parish!!

18º Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
Las lecturas de hoy nos deben de ayudar a reflexionar profundamente en el cómo vemos las cosas
materiales que tenemos. Eso de que ahorramos para nuestro retiro, de los tantos seguros de vida que nos
ofrecen y compramos. Nos hacen vulnerables para pensar que la vida no se alarga con posesiones, sino que
el dueño de la vida es Dios. No es que sea malo el tener, sino la confianza que se tiene en los bienes
olvidando que el centro debe ser Dios. La lectura del Eclesiastés nos pone la vida como una vana ilusión,
como un soplo transitorio que pasa aprisa. "Hay quien se agota trabajando y pone en ello todo su talento, su ciencia y su
habilidad, y tiene que dejárselo todo a otro que no lo trabajó". Las cosas materiales son de carácter efímero. Se explica que
será otro el que goce de los bienes sin haber trabajado para obtenerlos. Precisamente, por eso, son tan difíciles las herencias
y repartición de bienes. ¿Has pensado en ello? ¿Tienes todo arreglado para el día que Dios llame a tu puerta?
Jesús, por su parte, no se pone de lado de ninguno de los hermanos que piden la herencia, más bien les narra la
parábola del hombre rico explicando que no está la vida en poseer, demostrándoles su ambición y el deseo de tener. Ahí es
donde debe estar el cuidado de nuestra parte, no caer en la ambiciona y el poder. Porque con la muerte se termina todo el
capital y los planes. Debemos luchar por ser ricos de lo que vale ante Dios. Valorar el amor, la misericordia, la justicia y
compartiendo los bienes que Dios por su bondad nos ha dado.
"Pero Dios le dijo: '¡Insensato! Esta misma noche vas a morir. ¿Para quién serán todos tus bienes?' Lo mismo le pasa al
que amontona riquezas para sí mismo y no se hace rico de lo que vale ante Dios". - Lc 12, 20-21

Apertura de la Casa Cenáculo
El domingo, 7 de agosto de 2PM a 4PM
nuestra parroquia de la Inmaculada
tendrá la apertura de la Casa Cenáculo,
cual se encuentra ubicada en la calle 718
Oakland St. Este edificio será utilizado
para nuestros ministerios parroquiales
como: Dirección Espiritual, Consejería Familiar o
Individual, Oración de Sanación, Grupos pequeños de
Oración, etc. Este Cenáculo será primordialmente una
“Casa de Oración” para que todos vengan a orar.
Todas las personas de nuestra parroquia quienes
estén interesados en utilizar este edificio están
invitadas a asistir. Habrá un recorrido y se revisaran
los reglamento para el uso del edificio. También
habrá oportunidad de que fijen un horario para su
ministerio. Para mas información, favor de llamar a
la oficina de la iglesia durante la semana.
MINISTERIO DE JARDINERIA:
Actualmente estamos en busca de
voluntarios quienes les gustaría ayudar
con el mantenimiento de jardinería de
nuestra iglesia - deshierbe, riego, abono, poda,
plantación de flores y plantas de temporada, etc.

¿Qué es un Cursillo de Cristiandad?
El Cursillo de Cristiandad es un instrumento suscitado
por Dios para el anuncio del Evangelio en nuestro
tiempo. (Juan Pablo II). El primer objetivo del MCC
es hacer posible que la persona conozca y viva "lo
fundamental cristiano" mediante el anuncio kerigmático del acontecimiento de Cristo, "por la vía de la
amistad" y del encuentro comunitario. Pero no se trata
sólo de que el creyente conozca y viva su fe
privadamente o en un grupo cerrado, sino que, además
-segundo objetivo- ha de ser "fermento en los
ambientes", difundiendo su fe vivida e invitando al

El sistema de computadoras del Hospital de Pardee
actualmente no esta tomando lista de la preferencia
de religión de sus pacientes. Por lo tanto, ustedes

EL BAUTISMO
Los bautizos son el primer domingo del mes, después de
la Misa de la 1:30 PM. La clase de preparación, que es
un requisito para los padres y padrinos, tendrá lugar el
sábado a las 10 AM, en el Salón San Francisco. Por favor
lleven una copia del acta de nacimiento (No se aceptan
tarjetas, tiene que ser una acta con ambos nombres de
los papás). Requisitos para ser padrinos: Ser bautizado y
tener la intención de asumir las responsabilidades, tener
uso de razón, haber cumplido 18 años, estar confirmado,
haber hecho su Primera Comunión y llevar una vida de
fe. Los padrinos han de ser solteros o casados por la
Iglesia Católica. No pueden vivir en unión libre, ya que
deben de ser modelos de vida cristiana para los ahijados.
Para preguntas favor de llamar a Feliciano de la oficina al
693-6901. Los niños deben de tener la edad de 0 a 6
años. Si son mayores deberán atender la clase de la
Primera Comunión y un mes antes de terminar la
Primera Comunión serán Bautizados.
COMO
PEDIR
UNA
MISA
Para pedir una Misa por la intención de un ser querido,
difunto o vivo, llame a las oficinas de la iglesia al
693-6901 en horas laborales (lunes a jueves, 8:30AM4:30 PM, y viernes 8:30 AM-1:00 PM). Se necesita pedir
la Misa con al menos cuatro meses de anticipo. Se
acostumbra dar una ofrenda.
ALCOHÓLICOS ANÓNIMOS
Es una comunidad de hombres y mujeres que comparten
su mutua experiencia, fortaleza y esperanza para resolver
su problema común y ayudar a otros a recuperarse del
alcoholismo. El único requisito para ser miembro de
A.A. es tener el deseo de dejar la bebida. Para mas
información sobre los horarios, favor de llamar a 828708-2282 o 828-676-7903.
¿POR QUÉ DEBO REGISTRARME EN MI PARROQUIA? Registrarse es muy importante para poder inscribir
a sus hijos en el colegio Immaculata, para el matrimonio,
para bautizos, Quinceañeras, y para cartas de
recomendación (Inmigración) de la Iglesia diciendo que
usted pertenece a nuestra congregación. En los archivos
parroquiales estará su nombre y será fácil encontrarlo
cuando usted solicite algo. Cada mes se le enviaran los
sobres para la limosna con su nombre y cuando utiliza los
sobres de la donación, la oficina parroquial reconoce que
usted es un miembro activo de nuestra congregación. La
cantidad donada no importa, su ayuda sí. El paquete de
registración lo pueden encontrar en el cuarto de las novia (a
un lado de baño de las mujeres), y también puede ser
encontrado en la oficina de la iglesia.
TARJETAS DE COMPRA: Por favor recuerden comprar
sus tarjetas de compra de las tiendas de Ingles y Fresh
Market, después de la Misa para beneficiar a nuestra
escuela de la Inmaculada. Al comprar un tarjeta de
comparas, ustedes recibirán el valor total de que pagaron en
sus tarjetas y el 5% de sus compras de tarjetas beneficiaran
directamente a nuestra escuela de la Inmaculada. Para
obtener su tarjeta de compras, lo único que tienen que hacer
es pasar a la mesa de ventas a la salida de la iglesia.

LA PRESENTACIÓN DE LOS NIÑOS
Cada segundo domingo del mes se invita a los niños y
niñas que cumplen los tres años ese mes para recibir
una bendición especial, junto con sus padres y
padrinos. Al igual que José y María cuando llevaron al
Niño Jesús al templo para consagrarlo al Señor,
también reconocemos que los hijos son de Dios, y a Su
servicio y cuidado se los encomendamos. Para poder
participar, deberá darle al Padre Roberto un
papelito con el nombre del niño o la niña
claramente escrito antes de empezar la Misa. El
Padre Roberto los invitará a subir al santuario después
de la celebración de la Eucaristía.
INFORMACIÓN SOBRE DONDE CONSEGUIR AYUDA
Si quiere saber a donde y como conseguir ayuda para
atención médica, cuidado de niños, necesidades
básicas como comida, alojamiento, luz y agua,
consejería, u otros servicios humanitarios, solo tiene
que marcar el 2-1-1 y explicarle a la operadora cual es
su necesidad. Se habla español de 3 a 7 PM, y le darán
el nombre, dirección y teléfono de la agencia donde
puedan prestarle ayuda.
AVISO Puede conseguir muebles, r opa y ar tículos
para el hogar en el depósito del Buen Samaritano, a un
lado del Colegio Inmaculada. Abrimos los martes de
5PM a 7PM, y los sábados de 10AM a 12PM.
También si usted tiene muebles, artículos para donar
en buena condición llame a Feliciano de la oficina para
hacer su donación. 693-6901.
MINISTERIO DE CUIDADO DE LOS ENFERMOS Si usted tiene algún familiar o conocido de la
comunidad que se encuentre enfermo y desea que se le
visité o se le lleve la Santa Comunión, bien sea en la
casa donde éste reside u hospital, puede comunicarse
con Feliciano de la oficina al 693-6901.

Nuestra iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción cuenta con
un puesto de oportunidades de trabajos para personas
quienes estén buscando un empleo o para quienes estén

colocado en la parte exterior del segundo piso de la
iglesia, al lado izquierdo de donde está la entrada
