least two weeks prior to the date you would like to reserve.

Our next Confirmation service outing will be to serve dinner at Lincoln Park Community shelter, on Monday, April 1st. For
this outing, students need a donation of $10 for the cost of the food, and meet at the rectory at 5:15 PM. There is still room

The Confirmation service outing after that will be to play bingo with the residents of the elderly home run by the Little Sisters
of the Poor, on Tuesday, April 9th. We will meet at the rectory at 6 PM. There is still room available. If you’d like to attend,
please call Daniel Maul, our DRE, at 773-478-1157, ext. 16 or email him at [email protected]
Last year, in July, the youth ministry program of IHM was able to send 13 teenagers and 2 adults to Pittsburgh, PA, for a week
of service work. They went through the organization Catholic Heart Workcamp, and it cost each person about $400 to go.
Some members of our group worked in soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and food depositories, while others worked in the
homes of elderly individuals, for impoverish families, and in daycare centers. They were able to go, in large part, because of a
$5000 grant that we received from the Schwab Endowment Fund. This year, because of greater requests and the global economic situation, we received $3000 from the fund. However, this year, we have even more teens and adults interested in going
to Billings, Montana for another week of service work in July, again through Catholic Heart Workcamp. If you would like to
support their efforts by making a donation towards this trip, it would be greatly appreciated and certainly it would enable our
teens to serve some of God’s poor and elderly people. Thank you.

EASTER 2013
With the word “blizzard” last weekend, it is very hard to see the signs of Easter life that have come so early this year. Yet
signs of promise and hope surround us as we move into the Easter time which calls us to celebrate who we are in Christ.
We are grateful for the new life we have with the election of our new Pope. Pope Francis I has brought vibrancy to our church
through his presence and his own humble style of service. He has impressed many through his own style of preaching and
compassion. We are most fortunate that he leads us all and this sign of hope and promise is a gift of new life for us this Easter
season.
We also see signs of new life in the students who prepare to celebrate and come to the fullness of their faith through Confirmation and First Communion next month. As our Religious Education program has demonstrated, families are the first teachers of faith and through the example and commitment of the families of our students, they move closer in their journey to see
God present in these special graced moments we call “Sacrament.” Pray for these students as they call us to a future of faith in
their dedication and commitment to share God’s grace in the Confirmation in God’s spirit and the breaking of the bread at
God’s table.
We see signs of Easter promise in one another. Whether old or young, we come together from different ethnic traditions to
celebrate the bonds of faith that call us together and make us one in Christ. Easter is our gift of renewal and promise, not just
to God’s love, but also to bring forth the presence of Christ to one another through our service, commitment and hope. May
we be alive in love and come to see the promise we have received from the empty tomb that beckons us to move from fear to
deeper faith.
May Easter be a time of renewal and courage for each of us and our families. On behalf of the entire Staff here at Immaculate
Heart of Mary, we are humbled to be men and women of service to you and extend a Blessed and Happy Easter to you.

2013 Evening of Tribute Awards Dinner
The University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary will be holding their Annual Evening of Tribute Awards Dinner on Tuesday, April 16 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers beginning at 5:30 p.m. This year we will be honoring Steve
and Peggy Lombardo with the 2013 Francis Cardinal George “Christo Gloria” Award and Denis and Sondra Healy
with the 2013 Joseph Cardinal Bernardin “As Those Who Serve” Award.
All proceeds go to the “Holy Land Study Pilgrimage” and other seminary needs.

Pascua 2013
Con la palabra "tormenta de nieve" la semana pasada, es muy difícil ver los signos de la vida de Pascua que han llegado tan
temprano este año. Sin embargo, los signos de promesa y esperanza a nuestro alrededor a medida que avanzamos con el
tiempo de Pascua, nos llama a celebrar lo que somos en Cristo.
Estamos muy agradecidos por la nueva vida que tenemos con la elección del nuevo Papa. Papa Francisco I ha traído dinamismo a nuestra iglesia a través de su presencia y su propio estilo humilde de servicio. Ha impresionado a muchos a través de su
propio estilo de la predicación y la compasión. Somos muy afortunados de que el nos guía y este signo de esperanza y promesa es un regalo de una nueva vida para nosotros este tiempo de Pascua.
También vemos signos de una nueva vida en los estudiantes que se preparan para celebrar y llegar a la plenitud de su fe a través de la Confirmación y la Primera Comunión el próximo mes. A medida que nuestro programa de Educación Religiosa ha
demostrado, las familias son los primeros maestros de la fe y por el ejemplo y el compromiso de las familias de nuestros estudiantes, se acercan más en su camino para ver a Dios presente en estos momentos especiales de gracia que llamamos
"Sacramento". Ore por estos estudiantes que nos llaman a un futuro de fe en su dedicación y compromiso al compartir la gracia de Dios en la Confirmación en el espíritu de Dios y la fracción del pan en la mesa de Dios.
Vemos signos de promesa de Pascua en nosotros mismos. Ya sea joven o viejo, nos reunimos en diferentes tradiciones étnicas para celebrar los lazos de la fe que nos llaman juntos y hacernos uno en Cristo. La Pascua es nuestro regalo de renovación
y esperanza, no sólo al amor de Dios, sino también para dar a luz la presencia de Cristo hacia nosotros mismos a través de
nuestro servicio, compromiso y esperanza. Que estemos vivos en el amor y llegar a ver la promesa que hemos recibido de la
tumba vacía que nos invita a pasar del miedo a una fe más profunda.
Que Pascua sea un tiempo de renovación y valor para cada uno de nosotros y nuestras familias. En nombre de todo el personal aquí en Inmaculado Corazón de María, nos sentimos humildes en ser hombres y mujeres de servicio para ustedes, y les
extendemos una feliz Pascua llena de bendiciones.
