The Catholic Home Missions Appeal will take place
next week. One way that this appeal works to
strengthen home mission dioceses in the United
States is by funding seminarian formation in poor
dioceses. The blessing of seminarians places a
financial burden on these dioceses, where educating
each seminarian costs $35-40K per year. Your
support is needed for these young men so that they
might go back and serve their parishes. Please
strengthen the Church at home by making a
generous gift to next week’s appeal.

Liturgy and Worship
Liturgia y Culto
Thanks and blessings to each
person who helped make our Holy
Week and Easter services so
memorable: Lectors, Ushers,
Extra-ordinary Ministers of Holy
Communion, Greeters, Men’s Rise
Group, Sacristans, Vincent Berend
for preparing the Easter fire, the
Altar Linens and Silver Lining ladies. . .
A special thank you to David Rofrano and all of
the music groups and volunteers who worked so
hard to bring such beautiful music to all of our
liturgies. . .
Another big thank you to Li’O Floral Creations for
the beautiful fresh flower arrangements. . .
Special thanks to Rosalie Daves and her helpers:
Sally Wrobleski, Paula Paratore, Judy and Audrey
Sheppard, and Alex DeLeon who donated so
much of their time in decorating and
transforming the Church into a place of awe.
Also, thanks to Lynne Knobloch and Connie
Thorson for watering the hundreds of Easter
plants and to others who in one way or another
helped in the preparations. . .
And last, but not least, a huge thank you to our
pastor Fr. Wencil and our Deacons Arturo, Jerry,
and Jim!
Our community of St. Paul is truly blessed!!
Sunday
Reflection:
Words and bread.
Throughout the years of
his active ministry, Jesus
revealed the divine power at work in him through
earthly parables and shared meals. After his
Resurrection from the dead, the disciples came to
recognize him in the stranger who spoke to them
of the Scriptures along the way when he broke
bread with them. In these post-Resurrection
days, Jesus wants us to know him in the same
way. Every Mass follows the same pattern: we
hear God’s wisdom in the Liturgy of the Word; we
taste God’s love in the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
Lord Jesus, open the Scriptures to us; make our
hearts burn while you speak to us.
The Chapel and Church candle burns in
loving memory of Tom Eisenbarth at the
request of his family.

Third Sunday Of Easter

Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Office Hours:
Tuesday – Wednesday, 9:30 - 11:30 AM,
Thursday: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
The St. Vincent de Paul Society has moved into a “client choice” model for pro-viding food to our brothers and
sisters who request assistance. This means that each person comes into the St. Paul’s pantry, locally, and selects
about three days’ worth of food and toiletries that he/she believes will be needed for the family. SVDP members
bag or box the client’s choice. This is a change from the former approach in which a Vincentian selected what
the client would receive, bagged it, and handed the bag to the client.
Here are a few examples of how the new, “client choice” method has met with great appreciation from our
clients as well as our Vincentians. One of our Vincentians who serves in the food bank at St. Paul was touched
as she witnessed the following. She brings these events to you, our parishioners and benefactors, so that you
might share in the joy resulting from your generosity and love of our neighbors.
On a recent Sunday after the 8:00 AM Mass, a member was unpacking and recording donated food items.
Among the donations was a jar of pimentos (not an item which is typically donated to the food pantry). The jar
was placed in the condiments section of the pantry with the hopes that a client would select it in the future. The
following Wednesday, a client came to shop for her family of three preschoolers, upon seeing the pimentos, the
mother remarked, “Wow! Oh, I love this! Can I really have it?” She was overjoyed, and our Vincentian shared
in her joy.
A second moment touched our Vincentian the very same day. A mother was directed to the toiletries after she
had selected her groceries and the Chapter member had bagged them for her. “Oooh, look at the different kinds
of [bar] soaps!” The client picked up each one and sniffed each, just as if she had been in a grocery store.
“Mmmmmm; I like this one best of all”, she said. “Drop it in your bag,” was the response from the Chapter
member. The client’s smile lit up the pantry!
Our Vincentians are privileged to witness how simple acts of love from members of our parish bring such joy to
our neighbors in need. Thank you for making these opportunities available to our clients and to our Vincentian
volunteers.

Reflexión apostólica
La vida diaria puede
presentarnos ocasiones
o circunstancias
diversas que nos llevan
a perder la paz interior
(dificultades familiares,
laborales, escolares,
personales, etc.).
¿Cómo recobrar esta paz para poder transmitirla también
a los demás? Ordenando nuestra vida, como decía san
Agustín. Teniendo una recta jerarquía del amor, que él
llama ordo almorís (el orden del amor). Todas nuestras
dificultades se reducen a "problemas de amor". No es
que amemos poco, sino que podemos amar
desordenadamente si no tenemos claras nuestras

Third Sunday Of Easter
April 19, 2015
Adult faith formation at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is centered around the understanding that living
“The Way” taught by Jesus Christ is a life-long, evolving journey, involving both effort and decision. To enable
adults to explore the faith and deepen their knowledge of God’s Word, we provide many opportunities to
come together in a learning environment. As a diverse community with a small parish feel, we know it is
important to walk that journey with others and to share what we have learned along the way.
Making Marriage Simple-Marriage Mondays are Back!
Several times each year, we host a Monday

and Helen LaKelly Hunt, Ph.D. The program lasts through
June; you don’t have to attend every session to benefit from
participating. The book is available at Barnes and Noble or
from Amazon. Child care can be provided if reservations are
made in advance. Contact Heidi Clark at
