GOSPEL: Luke 2:41-52
EVANGELIO: Lucas 2:41-52
Can you identify with Jesus in this wonderful story
from Luke's Gospel? Jesus at the age of twelve is on the
verge of becoming a man in the Jewish society of his day.
He and his parents have traveled to Jerusalem to celebrate
the Passover. After the departure of Mary and Joseph, Jesus
remains behind in the Temple. There he amazes the religious teachers with his wisdom and intelligence.
¿Te puedes identificar con Jesús en este maravilloso
pasaje del Evangelio de Lucas? Jesús, a la edad de doce
años, está cerca de convertirse en hombre en la sociedad
judía de su tiempo. El y sus padres viajaron a Jerusalén
para celebrar la Pascua. Después de la fiesta, María y José
se marcharon, Jesús se quedó atrás en el Templo. Ahí sorprendió a los maestros religiosos con su sabiduría e inteligencia.
When Jesus' parents discover him missing, they are
upset. Jesus explains the importance of putting God first
in our lives. When we do this, everything else in life will
fall into place.

Dear Parishioners:
Christmas and Year End Giving is
Catholic tradition that began long ago
with the Ultimate Gift—God’s gift of
His only Son, Jesus Christ, to the world.
Tradition holds that the three kings
followed the star to bring gifts to the
newborn king; beginning a tradition of
gift giving during the Christmas season
we enjoy each and every year.
As the season of Advent concludes, the
same flurry of activities is happening at
Epiphany. The Spiritual Life Commission is planning our Masses, choirs are
rehearsing, the plans for decorating the
Church have been finalized, Saint Vincent de Paul is distributing the gifts collected from our “Giving Tree,” parish
groups are having their Christmas parties.
May we, as your parish staff, extend to
you and yours our sincere and personal
Christmas blessings. We wish you every

Sacrament:
There will be Exposition of the Blessed
Sacrament on Friday, January 1st, from
8:30am-5:00pm. This will take place in the
sacristy to the right of the altar.
Feast of the Epiphany:
Save the date! Our parish will be celebrating our feast day, Feast of the Epiphany,
on Saturday, January 2nd at the 5:30pm
Mass. A reception will follow in the cafeteria. This will be the kick-off of our parish centennial celebration! We hope to see
you there!

are hosting a New Years
Eve celebration on Thursday, December 31st, in the cafeteria. The
evening will include lots of food and dancing from 7:00pm till 1:00am. Tickets are

There will be an Open House for prospective
families to learn about Epiphany School on
Sunday, January 10th, beginning at 2:30pm
in the school cafeteria. Come meet the teachers, students, administration, and parents and
find out more about the school’s program.
Applications will be available for the 20102011 school year. Come enjoy refreshments
and participate in a raffle.

Catholic Charities CYO:
Maureen Moriarty will be honored along
with Joanne Fitzpatrick and Pete Murray as
inductees into the CYO Hall of Fame at the
2010 CYO hall of Fame Dinner on January
23rd, 2010 at the Father O’Reilly Catholic
Charities CYO Center at the St. Emydius
Gym. The dinner honors individuals who
have made an extraordinary impact on the
community, provided a legacy of leadership
and have championed the virtues and values
of CYO Athletics. Maureen has served at
Epiphany for over 20 years as a coach, 15
years as the Girl’s Athletic Director, a CYO
Athletic Advisory Board Member and coach
for the co-ed summer volleyball since its
inception in 2007. Maureen gives selflessly
of her time to the Epiphany program and
CYO Athletics, and is a great role model for
giving back to the community. For dinner

La tradición Católica de obsequiar regalos
por la Navidad y el fin de año comenzó hace
muchos años con el máximo regalo que Dios
dio al mundo: su único hijo, Jesucristo.
Dice la tradición que los tres reyes siguieron
a la estrella para poder llevar regalos al rey
recién nacido. Así se dio inicio a la tradición
que tanto gozamos de odsequiar regalos para
las fiestas de la temporada de Navidad.
Al terminar la temporada de Adviento, nuestra comunidad se envuelve de pleno en las
múltiples actividades de la temporada. La
Comisión de Vida Espiritual planifica las
misas, los coros practican, los planes para
decorar la iglesia ya han sido determinados,
la Sociedad de San Vicente de Paul está distribuyendo los regalitos del arbolito de obsequios y los grupos parroquiales están organizando sus fiestas.
A nombre de todo el personal de la parroquia queremos extender personalmente nuestras bendiciones por la Navidad. Les deseamos mucha alegría y felicidad, no solamente
durante estas fiestas sino también a través de
todo el año nuevo .
