HEALING MINISTRY
During Jesus’ ministry “he cured many
who were sick with various diseases, and he
drove out many demons.” This is the case in
today’s Gospel. Jesus fulfills the vision of Psalm
147: “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up
their wounds.”
Jesus knew, however,
that he couldn’t possibly
heal all the illness in the
world. No matter how
many people he cured or
how many hours he ministered, there always
would be more suffering
people like Job who
craved his healing touch. His primary mission
was not to rid the world of all suffering. His
“purpose” was to preach the coming of the
reign of God that heals, yes, but ultimately
transcends and transforms earthly suffering.
With Paul, Jesus could have said, “Woe to me
if I do not preach” that good news.
MINISTERIO DE SANACIÓN
Durante su ministerio, Jesús “curó a muchos enfermos de diversos males y expulsó a
muchos demonios”. Así es el caso en el
Evangelio de hoy. Jesús
cumple la visión del Salmo
147: “Él sana los corazones
destrozados y venda sus heridas.”
Jesús sabía, sin embargo, que nunca podría sanar todas las enfermedades
del mundo. Por mucha gente
que curara o muchas horas
que dedicara al ministerio,
siempre habría más personas
afligidas como Job, ansiosos
de su toque sanador. Su misión principal no era la de erradicar todo sufrimiento del mundo. Su “obligación” era
predicar la venida del Reino de Dios que sana, sí, pero en último caso, trasciende y transforma todo sufrimiento humano. Con Pablo,
Jesús pudiera decir, “Ay de mí si no anuncio”
esa Buena Nueva.

Last year over 10,000 people came to St. Mary’s in Palmdale
to receive ashes, most at the afternoon and evening services.
The Sheriff’s Department has asked that we follow special
traffic arrangements into and out of the Church parking lot on
the afternoon and evening of Ash Wednesday. The west gate
or main gate will be the only point of entry into the Church
parking lot. The east gate will be for exit only. No left turns
allowed either entering or leaving the Church parking lot.
Please travel east on Avenue R-4 (from the direction of 10th
Street East) and make a right turn into the Church parking lot.
On leaving the Church you must exit by the east gate only and
turn right on R-4 and go towards 20th Street East. Please follow the directions of the Deputy Sheriffs on entering and leaving the Church from Avenue R-4 and follow the directions of
the volunteers on Church property on the afternoon and evening of Ash Wednesday.
El año pasado asitieron a la Iglesia el Miércoles de Ceniza más
de 10,000 personas a los servicios de ceniza. El Departamento
del Sheriff nos ha pedido que sigamos las instrucciones de tráfico especiales dentro y fuera del estacionamiento en la tarde y la
noche de ese día. La puerta que da al oeste, junto a la escuela,
que es la puerta principal, será solamente entrada al estacionamiento. La puerta que da al este hacia la calle 20 será solamente
para salir. No se puede dar vuelta a la izquierda a la salida, sea al
entrar o al salir del estacionamiento. Por favor, para entrar a la
Iglesia viaje desde la calle 10th East y dar vuelta a la derecha
para entrar al estacionamiento de la Iglesia. No habrá vuelta a la
izquierda viniendo de la calle 20th East. Al salir del estacionamiento es obligatorio dar vuelta a la derecha hacia la calle 20th
East, no habrá vuelta a la izquierda hacia la calle 10th East. Por
favor siga las instrucciones de los voluntarios y agents del Departamento del Sheriff de Palmdale.

The first step in the process of RCIA is to attend an Inquiry session.
2015-2016 Inquiry sessions meet on Sundays at 11:45 AM (after
10:30 AM Mass) until 12:45 PM in the Holy Family Room (behind
the church adjacent to the new hall). There is no need to call or register. You are welcome any time!

Working Together To Prevent Child Abuse

VIRTUS® Protecting God's Children™ Program
Protecting God's Children Adult Awareness Session is a three-hour training
that helps clergy, staff, volunteers and parents to understand the facts and myths about child
abuse; how perpetrators operate; and how caring adults can take five important steps to keep
children safe. The parent session also stresses monitoring of computers, cell phones and other
technology that perpetrators use to gain access to children and young people.
