Architectural Mesh
by Kaynemaile™
Our seamless mesh offers structural performance by
using engineering grade polycarbonate, making the mesh
suitable for extremely high-wear environments such as
schools, universities, airports, bars and public spaces; it has
even been tested as a shark net.
Material
Environmentally considerate
Kaynemaile Seamless Architectural Mesh is based on a
traditional European chainmail assembly and produced via
a patented continuous injection moulding process, forming
a 3D impact-absorbing structure made up of solid rings
with no joins or seams.
With only one eighth the embodied energy of equivalent
metal meshes, our Seamless rchitectural mesh is better for
our environment.
The mesh is made from a recyclable self-extinguishing,
fire resistant and UV stabilised high-spec polycarbonate,
making it virtually impossible to scratch or damage. It is
easy to handle on site with no special protection required
and will not rust in corrosive environments.
Manufacturing
Our patented manufacturing process offers unlimited
sheet sizes/dimensions, using a wide range of UV
stabilised colours, resulting in a clean monolithic look and
a faster more affordable installation.
Kaynemaile Seamless Architectural Mesh is 100%
recyclable with a nil-waste production method. Its
lightweight and compact properties offer efficient cartage
options. Kaynemaile is Eco Specifier Green Tag certified.
Savings
Our Seamless Architectural Mesh is only 15% the weight
of equivalent stainless steel mesh; so it requires less
supporting structure and can make significant
budget savings.
Because our product is highly flexible, achieving curves
and organic forms is super easy, and won’t cost you more
than a straight screen.

We use 316 stainless steel hardware and components, so
our attachment solutions won’t rust; the seamless mesh
structure won’t go brittle like panel products and is backed

cladding, rain or wind screening, solar shading and privacy
screening. Our seamless Building-Armour solutions are cost
effective which is ideal for modernising an older building
and/or protecting new buildings (and occupants) from the
elements.

their 80% air flow permeability usually means sprinkler, smoke
detector locations and/or air-conditioning systems can remain

Your Spacemaile product is delivered to your door and

Spacemaile products are designed to be installed by regular
tradespeople, eliminating the need for specialist tools or
installers. The final screen dimensions are easily cut on
site, so they accommodate slight variations present in most

Hanging Screens
Spacemaile Hanging Screens are a simple ceiling-hung
solution often used to divide interior spaces, create visual
privacy or as a backdrop for signage or displays in retail
and hospitality. They are perfect for wrapping internal
columns and turning them into a feature.
Features
Our Hanging Screens can add depth, tactile texture and
visual interest in front of a solid wall or glazing.
The weight of the mesh is sufficient in most circumstances
to hold the screen vertical and even. Unlike a traditional
fabric curtain, the mesh is generally not affected by drafts,
air conditioning or breezes. Key features include:

Tension Screens
Spacemaile Tension Screens are a robust, hard-wearing,
rigid system, designed to be tensioned between the floor
and ceiling. Tension Screens are ideal to use as floor
to ceiling balustrades, security screening, green walls,
screening for stairwells, lift shafts and most safety-fromfalling applications.

Folding Screens
Spacemaile Folding Screens are an operable or moveable
screen, which means they are ideal for creating functional
separation of large halls, bars and clubs or even in openplan offices where intermittent screening is required.
The Folding Screen solution is a result of numerous requests for a
traditional concertina or movable ‘curtain’ using our hard-wearing Seamless
Architectural Mesh. With the addition of coloured lighting, it easily becomes
an elegant long-lasting feature.
Features
Our Folding Screens come with a stainless steel folding
hanger system making the screen easy to manoeuvre and
handle by anyone.
• Size Maximum 6 metre height. Unlimited length.
• Operation Smooth, effortless hand operation, even
screens over 6m high by 20+ metres in length can be
deployed by one person.
• Accessories An optional dropper system to suspend
the roller track below uneven ceilings, beams or building
services is available.
Due to the behaviour of hanging mesh, traditional curtain
track systems are not suitable.
Folding screens are our premium product. Where a screen
does not need to move, specify Hanging Screens.

Kaynemaile Folding Screens include all sliding hardware,
tracks, seamless mesh and a position locking handle.

Suitable to fit into joinery, windows or wall openings where
a more open look than our Tension Screen is required.

INSTALLATION
he Fixed-Framed Infill Screens are our only standard

solution that uses our mesh in ‘open state’. This state
of the mesh gives an open look, with around 50% visual
transparency compared to our Kaynemaile Standard
Screens which uses ‘closed state’ mesh at 20% visual
transparency.

To achieve an acceptable level of finish, the FixedFrame Infill Screen requires precision cutting of the
aluminium track, and is ideally suited for installation
into accurately finished joinery or millwork by
specialist aluminium window fabricators or joiners.

Lighting Kaynemaile
Well-positioned lighting is a successful and cost-effective
way to add value to your mesh installation, especially for
large scale projects such as malls, airports, hospitality, retail
or tourism.
Colour / Temperature
• A cool blue lighting system is often used to achieve
a modern fresh look, as it emphasises the reflective
glass-like qualities of the seamless mesh.
• A warm yellow lighting system will create a more subtle
effect, as it decrease reflectivity and adds a warm yellow
hue to the mesh.
• Full colour-controlled RGB LEDs gives a space an
evolving mood lighting element, which is suited to
hospitality and foyer applications.
• Water Clear screens can naturally allow the ambient
light to tint the screen for you, as the mesh has subtle
chameleon-like qualities.

Positioning
• LED strip lighting running parallel to the mesh
surface is ideal when an edge halo of colour is desired.
• Directional halogen spots, set back from the mesh and
casting across the surface, is an excellent way to boost
that reflective glass-like quality of the mesh.
• Daylight is another lighting element that can work well
for you. Unlike most fabrics our mesh can be used in
windows and brightly lit environments.

Lighting with Projection
The mesh also works very well
as a projection screen, especially
when a large-scale screen or
surface is required. The creative
opportunities are infinite as
the screens can be used for
light sculptures, marketing and
advertising; in fact all forms of
multimedia.
Kaynemaile have been developing outdoor projecting systems
that harness the light focusing attributes of Kaynemaile
Seamless Architectural Mesh, allowing rear and front
projecting. This could include lasers, projectors, spot lights
LED and many other lighting applications. Rear projecting
concentrates the light so that even low resolution images read
clearly.
Exterior and Interior Projection
• As part of a larger mesh building facade, projection can
be integrated in applications such as shopping malls and
car park buildings
• For interior projects applications include sports complex,
shopping malls, airports, and universities

Custom Colours
Kaynemaile can manufacture virtually any custom colour
for you. We work off standard RAL or Pantone colour

laboratory and in exterior test rig conditions. These results
apply to all Kaynemaile systems as well as most Custom
Projects.

General care and maintenance
Architectural Mesh by Kaynemaile is easy to maintain

Methods of cleaning
Interior environments
• Vacuum clean or coarse bristle broom or brush, or
• Damp cloth with standard dishwashing detergent
and clean water, rinse if heavily soiled
Exterior environments
• As per interior for spot cleaning, or
• Mild detergent pre-soak followed by a highpressure water blaster rinse
• Avoid wax, alkaline cleaners or silicon polishes
which may leave a dulling residue

Results show minimal structural/tensile deterioration of the mesh after 2000 hours of continuous
testing (equivalent to approximately 5+ years exterior exposure in New Zealand’s harshest UV
conditions – some of the toughest in the world).
All colours are light fastened, mineral-based pigments to maintain colour and recyclability.
Real world full external exposure testing after 8 years, show 95% original strength and colour.
