Gospel Acclamation
Penitential Rite (Confiteor)
I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in
what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my
fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and
Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the
Lord our God.
Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten,
not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were
made; For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
(all bow) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death
and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with
the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right
hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living
and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy
Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and
the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who
has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and
apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the
world to come. Amen.

la Virgen, y se hizo hombre;
Y por nuestra causa fue crucificado en tiempos de Poncio Pilato;

Bergoglio VIII
Nearly 17 years old, he experienced the call to priesthood as he was going to a National Student’s day gathering in the City. On
his way to meet his “girlfriend” he felt led to go into a church, where he confessed his sins and in his own words: “I don’t know
what happened….but right there I knew I had to be a priest; I was totally certain.” That was Sept. 21, 1953. By the age of 18 he
was finishing a degree in chemistry, broke the news to his parents in 1956 that he had been accepted into the Seminary. As with
most parents of young vocations, they were not thrilled with his choice, but his parents acquiesced, and at length became proud of
his decision. When he knocked on the door of the seminary in March 1956 he was twenty. After two years in the Diocesan
Seminary he applied to the Jesuits and was accepted. But when he was 21 he was brought down with an illness that took him to
the edge of death; removing the upper third of his right lung changed his life and prevented him from continuing to play soccer, or
to sing. In 1960 Jorge took the simple vows of a Jesuit: Poverty Chastity and Obedience, and then was sent to Santiago, Chile for
formation. The house of formation was in a rural area near the capital of Chile, surrounded by large gardens and orchards. It was
a monastic existence – prayer, silence and study; no radio or newspaper, the life of the Jesuit novice was simplicity itself. In
addition he was expected to participate in mission outreach to the poor in the area; for the priest in charge, direct contact with the
poor was a necessary part of Jesuit formation. That experience would remain with him for life. IHM pray for us, Fr. Jerry
Bergoglio VIII
totalmente seguro de eso”. Eso fué el 21 de septiembre de 1953. A la edad de 18 años él estaba finalizando una carrera en química;

RotaCare PiƩsburg Free Medical Clinic at St. Vincent de Paul
This Year of Mercy invites us all to find ways to share our talents. Volunteering at our RotaCare Free Clinic at St Vincent de Paul in Pi sburg is
clearly a way for medically trained caring people to live out this invite
from Pope Francis. And the rewards are great. I have been volunteering
for the last 6 years and I could easily say it is one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.
In the next few months we are expanding our services to East County
residents without medical insurance. But we are at an all me low on
volunteers. We need volunteer medical professionals to volunteer with
us to con nue our quality free medical care for uninsured adults.
Thank you in advance to those volunteering to keep our clinics staffed
and our doors open for folks who have no op on when they are sick
except emergency rooms with hours and hours of wai ng and huge
bills. Any ques ons please call Angela Rivello at 925 389 7116. (St. Joan
