NOTE
Volantín Cortao es una película
que busca un punto de vista
sincero sobre la marginalidad
social. A través de Paulina
y la desconformidad con su
vida, nos vamos sumergiendo
paulatinamente en el duro mundo
que formó a Manuel.
La vocación de realismo es una
premisa en la película. Vemos
como escena a escena la
naturalidad se va apoderando de
la ficción transformándola en el
registro del encuentro entre dos
personas que se van conociendo.
A la vez vamos transitando por
un Santiago periférico y poco
observado en el que Paulina es
una extranjera.
A pesar de la complicidad que se
genera entre Paulina y Manuel,
hay un mundo que los separa
inevitablemente, haciéndolos
enfrentar una dura realidad:
son distintos y poco pueden
ganar juntos. Ambos están solos,
abandonados al margen de una
ciudad que los ignora.
Kite Adrift is a film that seeks for a
truthful point of view about social
marginality. Through Paulina and
the dissatisfaction with her life, we
will gradually immerse into the hard
world that formed Manuel.
The vocation of realism is a premise
in the movie. We see how the
naturalness takes over the fiction,
scene by scene, transforming it into
the register of the encounter between
two people. While we walk by a
little-noticed peripheral Santiago
where Paulina is a foreigner.
Even though the complicity that
develops between Paulina and
Manuel, there is a world that
inevitably separates them. Making
them face a harsh reality: they are
different and there is not much they
can win together. Both are alone,
abandoned outside a city that
ignores them.
STORYLINE
STORYLINE
Paulina (21) es una joven
estudiante de trabajo social
que está haciendo su práctica
en un centro de reinserción de
menores. Allí conoce a Manuel
(16), con quien empieza una
relación de amistad que la lleva
a cuestionar su vocación y a vivir
una nueva adolescencia, esta
vez libre de costumbres y rutina,
robando horas de un mundo que
no le pertenece.
Paulina (21) is a young social
work student, doing her
professional practice in a social
youth center for the reinsertion of
minors. There she meets Manuel
(16), with whom she starts a
friendship that leads her to
question her vocation and starts
living a new adolescence, this
time free of manners and routine,
stealing hours of a world that
doesn’t belong to her.
