PRAY FOR THE FAITHFUL
DEPARTED
Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine
XI Sunday in Ordinary Time
First Reading: 2 Samuel 12:7-10, 13
Because God was displeased with the actions of David
concerning Uriah's death in order to marry Bathsheba, God
sent Nathan to reprimand David. Nathan reminds David that
God anointed him King of Israel and victor over Saul. David
realizes his sin against God, but Nathan continues to reveal to
David that the child to be born to him shall die.
Second Reading: Galatians 2:16, 19-21
Paul writes of the struggles between Gentiles and Jews who
both now profess belief in Christ Jesus. Paul proclaims his life
in Christ, working towards unity and faith in the Son of God.
Gospel: Luke 7:36―8:3
While Jesus was dining at the home of a Pharisee, a woman of
the city who was a sinner, came and anointed his feet with oil.
Weeping, her tears fell upon Jesus' feet and she dried them
with her hair. Because of the woman's respect and love, Jesus
forgives her sins. This causes those present at the table to
question who he is.
Parish Events
Thank you to those who are
participating. We have 92
families who have donated
and we thank you. However
we are not out our
participation goal of 500 yet. If you wish to make a donation
please do so with the appeal envelopes that were sent to you
or provided by the church. This helps us with our
participation goal. (Please use a check not cash.)
On Friday, June 10th at 7:30 pm the
Rockland County Catholic Choir will present
their spring concert “Songs of Love, Peace and
Hope” at Saint Joseph in the Main Church.
Please join us. A freewill offering will be taken
during this event.
On Tuesday June 14th at 7:30 pm we will
have an open Parish Council Meeting with the
entire parish. This will be the second open
forum that we will have. Please keep note of the
date to reserve it in your calendar.
Pastors Corner:
On Monday June 13, 2016 I would like to make note that
this is the day that Msgr. Vincent Case, my predecessor at
Our Lady of Grace, Bronx, passed away. Some of you may
remember him from long ago here at the parish. This was
his first assignment after his ordination. Msgr. Case,
according to many sources, was a great administrator but a
lover of fine liturgy and music. He could be found on
Saturday evenings in the sacristy cleaning the silver for the
High Mass. I have carried some traditions at the Solemn
Mass at 11:15 a.m. including the grand processions and
beautiful sacred music. This weekend at Mass I will be
using some items that were personal to Msgr. Case as we
honor his memory.
As an administrator of a large parish there are many things
that fall daily on my plate. The first is the spiritual life of
the parish. Our priests make Saint Joseph great and part of
the community. I thank them for their hard work and
dedication. Going out to see the sick in nursing homes and
homebound are just some of what they do. They advise me
on the spiritual life and any important issues that take
place within ministries and in the community.
As part of my canonical duties I must steer the parish in
the correct financial direction. After three years at the
helm I have made my final observations. In order to keep
this ship afloat I will have to make cutbacks across the
board. Starting in August changes will be coming to each
of the various departments and ministries here at the
parish. These are things that have to done to preserve the
church for the next one hundred and twenty two years.
We have a great weekend here at the parish. Father Patrick
is celebrating his fortieth anniversary of ordination on
Saturday and Fr. Christian celebrates a Mass of
Thanksgiving on his ordination. This is great time for the
priesthood and vocations. We are very lucky as I have said
that we have four parish priests; priests willing to serve the
Lord, and not the other way around. “You are a priest
forever in the line of Melchizedek .”God bless you both on
these great achievements.
Finally please do consider enrolling your children in
Summer with Jesus. It is a great way to make sure your
children ill be safe and active in the summer. There are
trips and other great events planned. You can see the CCD
office during the week to register. The early bird specials
are still running.
I thank you for all your support as we continue to thrive
and grow.

Le Coin du Pasteur:
J'aimerais
parler de Mgr. Vincent Case, mon prédécesseur à
Notre-Dame de Grace, Bronx. Certains d'entre vous se
souviennent peut-être de lui. Saint Joseph était sa première
affectation après son ordination. Mgr.
Voilà pourquoi Simon a invité Jésus

Decimo Primer Domingo En Tiempo Ordinario
Primer Lectura: 2 Samuel 12:7-10, 13
¿Por qué entonces has
despreciado la palabra del Señor,
haciendo lo que es malo a sus
ojos?...
He realizado algunas tradiciones en
acostumbrados a hacer listas.
organizarnos, a ahorrar energía, a lograr buenas cosas.
ciertos alimentos, plantas o medicamentos.
años al timón he hecho mis observaciones finales.
prosperar y crecer.
