Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Risen Lord Jesus,
As you are aware, I urged us in my Lenten message to
implore the Lord Jesus to form our hearts, so that we would
emerge at Lent’s end as a people whose hearts beat in accord
with His. Strengthened by prayer, purified by fasting and other
forms of penance, and committed to almsgiving, our hearts are
now more in sync with the Heart of Jesus Christ, on fire with love
for Him and for all our brothers and sisters, especially for those
most in need.
We have more intentionally been united to the Lord
Jesus as we relived His suffering, death, and resurrection through
our participation in the liturgies of the Easter Triduum. As we
rejoice this Easter Day in Our Savior’s triumph over sin and
death, we are keenly aware that we too must continue to share in
His triumph, dying to our self-centeredness and living instead for
the Lord and for others.
During Lent, we were re-created, so that in the weeks
and months ahead, the power of Christ’s love may be at work in
us, enabling us to be “missionary disciples” as we invite those we
encounter to come to Jesus, so as to experience His transforming
love themselves. Just like the first disciples, we are sent forth by
the Risen Lord Jesus to evangelize, primarily by our witness in
daily life, but also in our conversations and dialogue. An aspect
of our witness embraces our reaching out to the needy in practical
ways, so as to make visible Jesus Christ’s loving care for them.
The Risen Lord Jesus will transform our hearts in
answer to our request that He do so. With hearts formed like His,
we can truly live as His disciples, witnesses to the power of His
risen life at work in us.
Keeping you in daily prayer through this Easter season
and beyond, I remain
Faithfully in the Heart of Christ,
Most Reverend Paul S. Loverde
Bishop of Arlington
Alleluia! He is Risen!
From Ash Wednesday through 40 days of Lent we have
entered into Christ’s journey with us and with those who
receive the Initiation Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation,
and First Communion. Forty days have led us through
temptation and to the suffering, death, and resurrection of
Jesus. The Gospel accounts tell us of the empty tomb. Faith
is what allows us to believe that Jesus has risen from the
dead. Faith allows us to move forward trusting in the power
of Jesus’ resurrection, to see beyond the empty tomb. If
Jesus is alive, risen from the dead, then all things change.
We become easily discouraged, but the Risen Jesus fills us
with hope and with a confidence of faith.
We find poverty, violence, and injustice as reminders to
many in their daily life. In a world which seems to have
more of Good Friday than Easter, we who believe in the
Resurrection of Jesus are called to bring hope for those still
hanging on the cross. The Risen Jesus is the one who loves
you beyond all measure. Yield your life over to him, and
the power of the Resurrection will multiply. In prayer we
meet the Risen Jesus. When we encounter those most in
need of our love, we find the Risen Jesus at work.
The Acts of the Apostles tells us of the accounts of those
who met Jesus after his Resurrection. Jesus showed himself
to his disciples, to those with whom he ate and drank during
his public ministry. Jesus shows himself to us, who receive
his Body and Blood in the Holy Eucharist. Jesus has broken
through the death-barrier and has broken the power of sin
and evil over us. Death will not have the final word.
For the next 50 days we celebrate the Easter Season. It is a
time to allow the light and love of the Risen Jesus to break
forth into our lives.
Meet the Risen Jesus.
Announce the most startling news: Jesus lives!
Bring abundant joy because he is alive
in a way we could never have imagined.
Jesus lives! Alleluia! He is Risen!
From all the priests and deacons,
a blessed and happy Easter!
Father Lee Roos
Clergy Notice: I shar e with you the news that Father
Stephen Bilson-Ogoe is no longer in residence at All Saints
Parish. Fr. Ogoe has informed us that he will not be in
ministry as a Catholic priest. Bishop Loverde has removed
faculties for Father Ogoe so that he is no longer permitted
to preach, hear confessions, witness marriages, and offer
public Mass in the Diocese of Arlington. Additionally, Fr.
Ogoe is not to present himself as a Catholic priest, so as not
to confuse the lay Christian faithful. Please remember Fr.
Ogoe and the parishioners of All Saints in your prayers.

Avisos Parroquiales
Es Pascua de Resurrección
¡Aleluya!

a sitio web
www.virtus.org.
Vamos a
nuestra parroquia.
