Stewardship of Prayer .
We fulfill our obligation to unite with one another in prayer.
Prayers are powerful and important for those in our
parish community who are ill or need our support.
In an effort to ensure our prayer request list is up to
date, at the end of each month we will remove anyone from the list for whom we do not have a current
request. Thank you for your cooperation and your
prayers for our parishioners in need.

Vigésimo-Segunda Semana del Tiempo Ordinario
Semana del 30 de agosto del 2015
Your heart must be full of faith.
Twenty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Week of August 30, 2015
Listen to the Word (James 1:17 - 18, 21b - 22, 27)
What strikes you from the reading from the Letter of James? What
single word or phrase jumps off the page for you?
Look into your life
Question for children: What steps can you take to more humbly
welcome Christ into your heart?
Question for youth: Jesus warns about the things that will lead us
away from God. What tempts you away from being the person that
God created you to be?
Question for adults: Based on this reading from James, what is the
sign in one’s life that faith is present?
Activities for the week
Take one of these activities to further reflect:
God’s laws, including the Ten Commandments, were given so that
we can live in love and peace with God, with one another, and with all
of creation. As a family, choose a commandment as your special focus for action this week. Near the end of the week, share with other
family members what choices you made and the consequences of
your actions.
As a family, choose a way to put faith into action this week. Ask
each family member to offer suggestions. Each member chooses one
action for this week.
Post a list of family rules. Have each member select a rule he or
she has difficulty following. Discuss as a family how each member
understands the rules.
Read stories from the lives of the saints. Talk about how their faith
in Jesus showed through their words and actions.

STEWARDSHIP BY THE BIBLE
—
Page 6
CORRESPONSABILIDAD DE ACUERDO A LA BIBLIA
August 30, 2015 —Twenty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Today’s readings have a common theme that God, through his
commandments, gives us guidance and direction on how to live
good and holy lives. Moses makes clear how blessed are God’s
people to be called close to him. In St. Mark’s Gospel, Jesus
teaches that following strict rituals may actually lead to disregarding the spirit of the commandments themselves. James
expresses two very important stewardship principles: First, that
all good gifts come from God and, second, that good Christians
are to act on his Word. We, as Christian stewards, acknowledge
God’s abundant gifts and strive to embrace Christian stewardship as a way of life. We witness this by our gratefully giving
back to God our gifts of our time, talent, and treasure — feeding
and clothing the needy, giving shelter to the homeless, and visiting the sick and those in prison. In service to Christ, these Corporal Works of Mercy put our faith into action.
30 de agosto del 2015 —Vigésimo Segundo Domingo del
Tiempo Ordinario
